1.
Hi, I'm another bassist who has not been impressed with H&S guitars. I ordered a 5-string sequoia bass back in January, paid in full (£140) and awaited delivery in 21 days. Nothing, and nothing since. I have tried to contact them via email on countless occasions - they have never replied. I have tried phoning but none of the numbers work. I have also tried to get Paypal to help but by the time I contacted them, the 45-day period had expired. It seems to me, looking at this thread that they are ripping off a lot of people. Is there anything we can do by joining force and bring a legal proceeding?
Send a PM to thisnameistaken, he may be able to pass your details to the Police in Hannover. He sold his on ebay recently, and was contacted by another person as well!! Just like to reiterate how lucky I feel....
 2.
Interesting - got any pics? Just goes to show - there are no rules in JapCrap! J.
I'll take some. Been in the loft for ten years, must be on it's 4th refinish from the looks of it!! Have just bolted the neck on, am about to start the wiring.
 3.
All, I've been wondering about this post for a while and I've got five minutes to kill so here goes... I, like probably a quite a few folk here, am an inveterate browser of on-line bass stores, ebay and classified ads. I've only bought one or two over the years but I still love looking. Occasionally I see something rare, interesting, underpriced or just plain weird and I think, "I bet there's somebody on Basschat who'd have that like a shot." So how about we continue this thread with links to "interesting" basses for sale anywhere in the World. To fall into the "interesting" category I reckon a bass has to be either a bit unusual/rare or, if it's as common as muck, apparently cheap. To kick off, if anybody fancies a Status Electro, there's one on Gumtree (London) at the moment for a very reasonable £300 ONO (was very tempted myself but it's fretted). So, what else have you all seen out there for sale that made you think (and if anybody can find me an underpriced Tacoma fretless four I'll have it). Phil
I think with the increasing use of Gumtree, this sort of stuff should go in the Ebay links thread?
 4.
Not a lot I can do really I've already taken the bass back and I've got my refund. What else can I can besides writing to Hartley Peavey himself to complain? What good will that do really?
I remember reading somewhere that someone complained to, i think, Vintage about the quality of the instrument he purchased. MD got in touch and sorted him out a nice one.
 5.
It's got a square-end fingerboard & zero fret, which means it's not from a Columbus/Avon or similar trash-end JapCrap.
My Columbus EB-3 has a square-end fingerboard. No zero fret though...
 6. I'm pretty sure it's mid 90's. I vaguely recall reading a review in Guitar magazine, but the natural finish one had a flamed maple photo finish on it. Something about those pickups bothers me, but I can't think why. I'll fish in the loft tomorrow and see if I've still got the mag.
 7.
There was a really clean looking westone thunder 1, went for £110 last night, pretty good price. There's another one on now too for £185 BIN but the bidding is at £1.25 here There's also a really nice looking headless westone at £232
What's the attraction with those? I had a Westone flying v and it was nothing special at all. And is it West-One or Wes-Tone?
 8.
Neck looks like it's off a Kay bass
I suppose that's more likely given my hypothesis about the pickup. The bar type string retainer is pretty common on those. I would just like to reiterate my disgust for those pickups. No height adjustment, just a metal shell screwed onto the body of the guitar with a tiny magnet in it that got shown some copper wire at some point.....
 9.
Definitely looks like a B&Qenbacker to me! Looks like an old EB-0 copy neck on a home-made body. Bless. J.
yeah, it's homemade. I thought EB neck as well, I've just about finished restoring a Columbus EB-3, the shape of the headstock and tuners are similar. Pickups and knobs look like Teisco/Kay, in which case the pickup is awful.....
 10. Even I wouldn't buy this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BASS-GUITAR-Old-1970...1QQcmdZViewItem
 11. Hoffnar? Not sure it is Jap crap, but I'm putting it here anyway http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hoffnar-Style-Bass-G...1QQcmdZViewItem
 12. In response to the cheap thread that appeared below. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bass-Guitar_W0QQitem...1QQcmdZViewItem
 13. What's this. it looks home made? Have questioned the seller, he's round the corner..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bass-Guitar_W0QQitem...1QQcmdZViewItem
 14.
Yeah I had initially had my eye on the columbus precision with the maple neck that looked nice and played in, but the more I looked at the balck maple hondo I thought I'd have a bid on it, turned out I was the only bidder Does anyone know how much the others went for? I didnt put them on my watch list so I dont know. Would be interesting to find out.
The jazz was the one i wanted, but you could see the holes were the covers had been removed, and I have already got one!! That one went for £75. The cream precision went for £49.99. The rather tatty Kay type one didn't sell, but the one in better condition was £49.99. Why am I typing this? Go here: http://search-completed.ebay.co.uk/search/...o%3D2&fgtp= There's a guy with a Columbus Les Paul with a £199 BIN. He obviously hasn't looked at prior listings... I've had 3 and never paid more than £50.

 16.
I've heard to get a pick sound, while playing fingers you can get via effect pedals. true or false?
You could simulate it with a compressor and EQ I guess. Would end up sounding like Fieldy from Korn. Tic-Tacs falling down the stairs....
 17. I knew without opening the thread what this was I was nosing at the Columbus basses but they got bid on and I didn't want them that desperately....
 18. If he'd left the curves of the body alone, I'd be all over it.
 19.
Look at his other items, you lucky right handed bast***s.
Ah yes! That will be mine then, thanks very much http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/bass-guitar-transpar...1QQcmdZViewItem
 20.
Bump. make an offer.. bare in mind, this cost £429 new for me couple years back
But Peter Cook's is clearing them for £159.... http://www.petercooks.co.uk/clearance.php I really wanted one of these once, but I've decided I'm just not a guitar player.
 21. I have an Ibanez Ergodyne EDC715 5 string with an active triple coil pickup. Bags of power and bottom end. Never seen another one though.... I've also got an Ironbird, but I find the pickup in mine (and old NJ) to be quite mellow, and I actually used it in a carol concert at my local church that I got roped into doing!!
 22.
Not at all! It's speculation really that it's a Hondo - unless the seller's got the original trc (I'd message them & ask for it to be included - as well as the one on the bass, if they have) they likely won't have a clue what brand it was. An added bonus will be if it's a real Rick trc - pretty unlikely, but it does happen. That'd be half your money back on that alone. Anyway, lots of pics when you get it please! J.
what's a TRC? Wait! Truss Rod Cover! Pics will be coming....
 23.
Utter madness - it went from £180 (which was bad enough) to £335 in the last 3 minutes. J.
Yeah. Some bastard fought me for it Shame it's a private listing, I would have liked to have seen the progress. More than it's worth I know, especially as I was considering saving for a second hand one. But.... i have worries that I will get one after all this time and be disappointed, and since this is so accurate to the one I've always wanted, I personally feel it was worth the price. And I think I'll make my money back if I hate it Compared to the weird bridge and pickup cover on the rockinbetter, at least this is accurate. You may continue mocking me now....
 24.
This is the original auction: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=220214885649 Paul posted a link to my auction for a Grabber copy (black plate & 2 knobs) from a month or so ago - so mebbe that's the one you saw! J.
Ah... blimey, you're right, he doesn't hang around. I had it on my watchlist but I won't pay that much for it, wasn't sure what the sort of interest would be in them.
 25. I anticipate a bidding war with that Hondo. It keeps going up by a few quid and there's a good few hours to go yet. The Tokai went for BIN.
