That's if he was looking on ebay UK anyway.
Only BC Rich bass on ebay recently was a knacked Warlock. Although there may have been a Virgo on recently. I'm too lazy to check, just got in from work

 4.
You could set that look off nicely with some luminous green trousers I think! Final question if I'm not bugging you too much. I notice there was some talk earlier about buying similar bases in Lancaster, and you mention another German alternative...do you know which companies/websites and are they all manufactured in the same place in the far east do you think? Found an intersting clip on youtube of some dude playing both necks at once - I think I'd get beaten up if I tried that at rehersals!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW-EsrNl7yk Thanks again for all your help Alain
I think the Lancs was linked... as for ebay, just do a search for doublenecks with BINs, that should find them. You can spot them easily due to the bat inlays; the headstocks tend to vary though. Def. from some random chinese place - there was chinese branded silica gel in the box.....
 5.
Can anyone tell me if there is anything else different between these two basses other than

A mirrored scratchguard
Metallic paint
£50 difference in the asking price

Nope!!
 6.
Seriously, if eBay had their way you'd not be able to do anything unless it was transacted through eBay and PayPal. It won't be long before you have to use their ISP or have an email account with them or some other way of binding you so that they can control things and squeeze more money out of you. I say all of this but I still buy and sell on eBay every single day... not found an alternative way to fuel my disorder yet
Have you seen this: http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/200804.shtml#2008-04-21085253 Sell from a different PC (i.e. at work) and they'll want to 'phone you for permission?!?!
 7.
Just a CMI. There's no connection whatsoever between the brands. And isn't that CMI awfully like the one that was pulled a few weeks ago? An off-Ebay deal, I think, & I bet he paid less than £300 for it... J.
Ah... well I've learned something then I was going to ask what you thought of the price, but I take it you don't approve!
 8. Yeah, but my initial incredulence was because I thought it was down to cash payment full stop!! I'm just been and handed £150 over for an AXL acrylic P bass which I was more than happy with!!
 9.
I suppose my concerns, in no particular order, are weight/comfort, playability, instrument quality and looking like a prat! Any advice you could offer based on your experience would be most welcome. Thanks very much for your guidance so far too!. Cheers Alain
Well I've mentioned the weight but I'd say it's actually quite comfortable. It's less uncomfortable than playing a thunderbird, it's nicely balanced. It's very playable, the necks are very chunky which i like, a good D sized profile. The low B is very nice, I've had some 5 strings where it hasn't felt like part of the rest of the guitar, tension feel and tone have all been off but this is consistent. The instrument quality on mine is fine, but I know they have been hit and miss. Common account is a the jack socket hole, which could have been sanded better but then I tend not to look down it Looking like a prat..... well, I play mine with a leopard print strap. If the bass was bright pink I'd be set Mine was well worth the £200 ish I paid, not seen anything similar. There is another German company offering similar guitars but they do different configurations of neck.
 10.
How odd.... I've done several deals where I've met the person and paid in readies.... When has that come in? seems like they (ebay) are trying to dictate how you buy it? Can they do that? Incidently I may have a pop at the Ashbory as its Black and I fnacy a noodle with one.... Anyone got an idea of how much they should fetch 2ndhand? bob.
I've just done a search on ebay policies and found that they don't recommend it, because "Cash isn't traceable, there is no way to prove payment was or wasn't made and it can get lost or stolen in the post.". Nowhere does it say you can't, which is what I expected. I did read recently that Australians are going to be forced to use paypal only, and was worried that we were getting shafted in the same way. Last time I checked this auction, it got to £96 I think.
 11. I spotted this just been put back up, and I remember it having bids on.... 14. http://www.liveitlive.co.uk/europaiv_spec.html I saw a pic of one of these in this months Bass Guitar Mag, first thought was that I hate the shape, the second was that for that price I'd want more to my bridge than a Les Paul stop tail!!!! But then I noticed the pickups, and thought that if they're anything like the originals, that thing will sound monstrous with everything on. There's no way in hell I'd buy one, I could buy a 4003 for that sort of money.... but it would be cool to tinker with if it was a few hundred. Ditch the 5 way and put in three mini-toggles for individual on/off, put a push-pull on the tone for a choke circuit on the neck pickup, stick a proper ridge on it.... ...and the shape does grow on you....
 15.
OK thanks for the reassurance. Just out of interest how heavy are these instruments to dangle around you neck? I've a nice broad padded Overwater strap (only thing I could afford of theirs) so I hope that will even out the pressure a bit. Cheers Alain
*Very* It's a one-two song instrument. Personally would have preferred the fretless on top, as it takes more pressure to fret and it can be uncomfortable reaching round the lower neck. The sound across the necks is very consitent however, alkthough there is a noticable volume drop with both necks on, so you have to be quick with the switch. depends what you're playing I guess.
 16.
There's a double neck bass on e-bay at the moment from Leicestershire by these guys. I am quite interested in it for various sad GAS related reasons and was thinking of bidding. The seller says he received it a couple of weeks ago and didn't like the 5 string fretted part and has ordered a 4string/4string double. It all sounded reasonably plausible until I read this post. The seller is quite happy about cash on collection to be fair though. Should I be worried/cautious? Thanks, Alain
I'd say it's fine from the feedback and cash on collection angle. It's a private sale, so don't let the H&S business problems put you off. It's the same as mine, and I can vouch for the bass, assuming he's had no problems with it. I paid £190 for mine in the sale, usually getting on for £300 as he says. Let's just hope he receives his 4x4!!

 18.
I'll take some. Been in the loft for ten years, must be on it's 4th refinish from the looks of it!! Have just bolted the neck on, am about to start the wiring.
Here's a thread http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=18151
 19. I've had this in the loft for ten years, thought it was about time I did something with it It had been resprayed black when I got it, I sanded it down at the time and looked like it had originally been brown. I pulled the frets out with a pair of pincers and that's as far as I got. The tone isn't great, so I'm not putting a massive amount of time and effort in to it.... filled the fretholes in with wood filler and sanded them flat, then sprayed the body with Vauxhall car paint. There's a few run marks but it's acceptable to my eyes. Have strung it up to check the neck is actually straight before I do any more. I've layed the bits on the top to see how it looks. There's a spring missing on the bridge pup and the neck one has had the cable cut quite short. The original wiring loom is quite knackered so I'll start from scratch there. Some pics:

 25.
early 90's, i'd say. I've got an old Yamaha catalogue from 91/92 with a red RBX250 in it. pickup looks stock- exposed polepieces. alder body.
Yeah, I concur, I found the magazine (Guitar Magazine Jan 1997). Yamaha changed the design in 1996 to 2x2 tuners, a longer bass horn, and the treble horn points outwards. The pickups look weird to me because they're sealed units on the redesigned ones.
