1. 'Why' by Carly Simon. Been plotting that for a good while now, and this thread is a welcome reminder to give it a go.
2. Sorry to hear about your problems but I'm grateful to you for curing my GAS for one of these amps!
3. I was going to suggest drop-tuning it to BEAD, but then thought better of it - having got to know PP a bit I'm not sure how well she would cope with that!
4. Yeah, feel the same about mine, too!
5. PS that's 324 'jack socket plugged in' hours.
6. Excellent advice from Painy. 4 hours! Sounds very much like a visit to your friendly local guitar repairs person is in order. To give you some point of comparison. Aguilar states a battery life of 324 hours for the OPB-3 pre-amp, which is their most powerful model. Something is definitely not right, there.
7. You might not get too many replies - MTDs are a bit of a minority interest on Basschat! Maybe post to Talkbass instead?
8. Yes I'd like to give Chromes a go at some point - let us know how you get on if you do.
9. The handover to Raymondo, @ The White Horse, Harborne, Birmingham, Saturday 27/09/14:
10. I recently acquired an MTD fretless fiver. Previous owner had strung it with Circle K rounds - not sure about the gauge but probably at least .130 for the B. Decided i would try flats to start with, so strung it with Labellas - Deep Talkin' 45-128. Loved the sound and feel of Labellas on my old Sandberg California fretless 4 so thought they might work on the MTD as well. Gave it a week or so and ... nah, previous owner was right. Replaced the flats with a set of DR Sunbeams 45-130. Oooh yes! Amazing, spectacular sound, and lovely silky feel. Game over!
11. I was there! Was only able to stay for the first set but managed to hear both the Tina Turner and Bruno Mars covers - both of which worked really well and fitted in perfectly alongside the more orthodox rock stuff. Hard to believe that this was the first gig in 2 years - the band was tight and Ray was a consummate showman as well as a rock solid player. After hearing him do his thing for an hour I am now also gassing for a Precision again, dammit! His MIJ P sounded sooooo smooth and fat through his Ampeg/Trace stack. A great evening!
12. PS It's the White Horse, not the White Lion, isn't it? (I don't think there is a White Lion in Harborne, but I may be wrong about that)
13. HI Raymondo. Already PMd you back! I'm around tomorrow so handover should be no problem. Great to hear that the relay goes on!
14. The good news is that it looks like they will be touring again in 2015.
15. I've had a few expressions of interest but nothing firm at the mo.
16. I've had a few expressions of interest but nothing firm at the mo.
17. I have an AG5 (new, from Bass Direct) and a KZ6 (used, from eBay UK). Both awesome basses. Best necks ever - so easy to play. I've upgraded the stock pups on the KZ6 to Nordstrands, and it is now scarily loud and aggressive!
18. Stunning bass! Sorry you have to sell it.
19. Yes indeed. The technical term is the "F**k yeah!" feeling. It has been scientifically proven that only Stingrays can deliver this.
20. Should be ok with Labellas, or Thomastiks (even lower tension) but if still too high just stick a shim in the neck pocket - should do the trick.
21. Don't worry about it - once you've bought your Ray you won't be interested in playing your other basses any more, so it will be easy to sell them!
22. Another thumbs up for TC here - although this is based on a somewhat different rig to what you are contemplating. (mine is an RH750 into 2 TC cabs - an RS212 and an RS210).
23. I’m finding a TC Electronic RH750 + RS212 and RS210 works very nicely in a covers band situation - details here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/235100-tc-electronic-is-definately-better-than-markbass/page__view__findpost__p__2554553 As Lozz says, the big selling point with TC gear is its versatility.
24.
The new gig rig.
Yes! The RS212 on the floor plus RS210 on top works for me, too - rumble, punch and sizzle!
