4. http://www.reverb-store.co.uk/ is the splash page. It's a data-capture excercise, preceeding a full-blown site. Well it can't be any worse than the old SC website, which was my least favourite site to use out of all the music gear e-tailers. I suggest they ask end-user opinions about what we need in a website in terms of navigation etc.
5. I use a Schroeder 1210R and I know there are a few Shroeder users on BC. Maybe you could add them them to you research list? Shroeder website
6.
Use CD baby, or the slightly easier Catapult distribution. They'll sort out everything for you and get your songs on iTunes/napster etc. They take a 9% cut and itunes take there bit too. But you don't pay for aanything apart from the barcode and initial set up, anout £35. Then knock up a website and use paypal merchandise to create a paypal button. Here's my version: http://www.felt-tip-records.co.uk/
Thanks. I'll check all of this out!
7. After a year of recording bits in our spare time, we ...Angie Shaw (band) have produced an album of original songs, entitled The Other Side Of Blue. We have had a short run of CDs produced and our hope for these is to open doors ...to better gigs, find our audience etc. We aren't in it for the money, though wouldn't mind some revenue to pay for the recording/CDs, and recognise that some folk that aren't able to come to gigs, will want to either order a CD or download the songs. Can anyone who self-publishes, give us tips on what we should do to make this possible? We aren't able to do our own online things, bar MySpace (see link below), and so would want to use an existing payment/download thing.
8. I sold a SWR 6X10 to a guy from Poland with one feedback only a few weeks a go. His friends drove over to Harrogate from Manchester, gave me the £600 in cash and drove it away. Just goes to show eh?
9. I bought back with me a Sansamp Bass Driver. In 2005 it cost me the same in dollars as it would have done in pounds over here ...$179. It has proven to be a good buy. I don't use it much, but when I do, it really is gets me out of a hole. Nice thing to have in your gig bag, just in case.
10. Thanks for the tip off. I hope to go. I just looked at http://www.picturedrome.net/music_events.htm and whoever is booking the artists, has taste!
11. I bought a pair of passive phones that were designed by a drummer, to keep noise OUT and they are terrific. Mine came in a hard carrying case, with plenty of flex and airplane connector adaptor (I do use them for travelling to). I got them via eBay. I've just had a quick search and have found one pair. Direct Sound Extreme Isolation Headphones I have no connection with that vendor, or the manufacturer. But I do recommend them as a great alternative to pricey hifi phones.
12. This thread gives me a chance to say something about my sound, and it's not good news for the Big Budget Boutique Bass Bonzos. I've been playing bass live since 1975, and have been through a shop full of nice guitars in that time including two Rickenbackers, Arias, Washburns, a Gibson, a Warwick, and more Fenders than you can throw a pick at. That doesn't make me a good musician, but hey I've got away with it so far. Now I bought a 2nd hand Jap-made Aerodyne Jazz as a spare (for £375) last year. It soon ousted my T-Bird as my main rock bass. I keep thinking I need to get something made to a higher standard with sexy electronics, exotic woods and graphite limbs, but at every gig I say to myself Wow ...is that great, bright wirewound sound really coming from this humble black beauty? As it happens, I've been using various rigs and even a Pod once, and it doesn't seem to matter what I'm using, as long as I've got both the P & the J PUPs on at the same time. I use a pick for most of the time, and I keep the mids down on whatever amp, yet I get this 'near Ricky' sound. I drool over some of the £1000+ basses featured in this great forum, but this damn passive bass just keeps claiming its place. "Does the sound of your bass make you go, "OH YES!"?" OH YES!!
13. I bought this Octave divider nearly new, but discovered it is for passive basses (I got it to use with my active fretless). It can be converted, but I think I'll just move it on. It is in mint condition, with all the original packaging. £25 plus whatever it actually costs to post. I can receive £ on PayPal, or via electronic bank transfer.
14. How depressing. Despite being an Old Git, I pride myself on keeping up with Good New Stuff. I just looked at my download library for inspiration, but my 'finds' of late are more acoustic leaning. Lots of good albums have come out in the naughties, but from acts who hail from at least a decade or two a go. One act that could make this thread though is Yeasayer ...with Ira Wolf Tuton making the bass a vital ingredient.
15.
No, I can't do the 29th June as I'm gigging that afternoon. If the date of the gig or the date of the bash changes to a date when I'm free, then I'll go. I still don't have any tastey gear to show around regardless! ta, Jon
SNAP! My first Sunday afternoon gig of the year.

17.
ee there's always one lets just say it wasn't exactly in the same condition as it was supposed to be-played very nice though.
I'm glad you asked, Steve. I can't keep up with Neil's GAS attacks!
18. I've played at the Baildon cricket/rugby club a few times. That might be a venue. There's at least half a dozen Bass Chatters in Harrogate who might come over. If I ever get my Genz-Benz Shuttle, I'll bring it along!
19.
have you seen this?? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Modulus-Flea-Bass-4-...1QQcmdZViewItem looks really nice to me
I have indeed spotted this one. It lives too far away for me to go and try first, but I could go with it if I knew it was the right kind of thing for me first. Hence the appeal to fondle someone's locally.
20. I like the idea of a Modules 4-string, but have never tried one. I just wondered if a Modulus owner in my area will let me have a play on theirs in their own home. I live in Harrogate, and work in Leeds. Then, if I'm smitten, it will be a case of finding a used one!
21. They do not have a model number, but looking at an ad for HC555s, I'd say they are comparable. These ones are in natural finish. I'll get some photos up in a few mins
22. One pair of Headliner Congas with stands. £100 in good and playable condition. Probably about five years old. Pick up from Harrogate, or I can deliver to Leeds. Pics will follow in a wee while.
