  1. Dear Mr. Spondonbassed,

Please may we relentlessly take the píss put of your unnatural lust for volutes?

    Yours Sincerely,

How does the lid fit on? The tool looks too tall and blocks the slot.

The original drill guides are Imperial so dad turned and hardened some metric ones before he sent it. They were underneath the jig when I put it back in the box. If you put it back in properly then the lid goes back on ;)

  3. I don't like relicing particularly, if I play it and the paint rubs off then so be it, but I don't see the point of buying it pre rubbed off.

It's like shabby chic, which as far as I can tell is a term invented by people who can't paint a chest of drawers properly.  😉

On the other hand, I do like stuff made out of reclaimed timber. Some of the marks and figuring can be amazing. Some of the things I have made out of pallet wood have some really nice texture.

  4. I was considering Barncaster to be a catch all for a guitar that was made out of reclaimed wood that emphasised shakes, nail holes, woodworm etc and accessorised by rusty control plates.

I'm knot a fan.  I wanted to ask however if that is what the young people call "steam punk" these days

    I think that's called a barncaster.

<thread.derail> Steampunk is faux victoriana. Originally coined, as far as I know, when people started writing alternative history, if Babbage had got the difference engine working for example and the Victorians had developed computers. Modern tech in a victorian style ornate, or at least well constructed housing. My favourite Steampunk novel is The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson. </thread.derail>

  6. I'd use a forstner bit over a paddle bit. They're the ones that have a flat circle at the end :)

Unless the hole already exists, in which case a step drill as they are more self centering than either of the two mentioned above.

This is such a bonkers build - I really love it.

I guess this is more a question for Sims, rather than Andy, but it did occur to me, after watching the video of the Sims pickup demo, is why not have 4-way toggle switches on the pickups, rather than a 3-way + an extra on/off switch? Would save a bit of real estate.

I suppose if you have a four way switch then you have to remember which notch is the sound you like, especially with more than one of them. An extra off switch means than set and forget?

Though how many people are mad enough to have three of them?

    Nice... Q? Pick Guard?

I'd of been inclined to of painted up with a pick guard in place... maybe even with the pickup covers fitted... so it all blended in with the stripes...

Black, Mirror...? Can't be Tort.... can it?

Can you still get black mirror scratchplates? That would be epic.
