A few that I'd like to play more but live in their original cases due to lack of space are an original 80s Hohner B2A with picato stainless steel flats, my beautiful flamed maple Guild Starfire II, and my NS Design CR-5M from 2007, which despite having been gigged in a previous band for several years has managed to stay in mint condition with exactly zero dings.

The fake decals make it look cheap when the imprint of the real decal is still showing, and this should probably reduce the value. It is ridiculous to put 'Made in USA' on an indonesia built bass as that makes it look like the decals were applied to deceive a purchaser rather than to make it look more 'proper' at a gig.

Maybe they cost too much to make and they didn't sell enough?

I have one of these, it was my main bass for my previous band (with EMGs and a hi-Mass bridge) and I played it a lot. I really like the neck finish. It never got grubby though as I always wash my hands before playing.
