1.
I have a set, let me see if i have any pics....
Would definitely be interested in taking a look at them Rick, thanks!
2.
damn it, you've all seen it now....
Only ships to the UK That's me out!
3. Thanks Rick! Chrome covers and threaded saddle bridge are already in transit The only parts I haven't ordered yet are the reverse tuners. If anybody has a set for sale drop me a line.
4. So here's my second project. Having sold my '57 AVRI a few months ago I began to regret it a bit so decided to do my own. Loosely based on this: So who knows, a refinshed 57 P Bass could have become an iconic bass had "Black Beauty" not been stolen from Jamerson in the early 60's! So on to the project itself... I started with a 1996 MIJ '57RI and took the neck from that: The body came from a Highway One P Bass. I choose this to get the nitro finish. It's nice and lightweight, and aklthough I've read lots of reports of there being a poly finish under the nitro, the nitro finish on this seems to be really thin. The colour is a flat/matte/satin black, and I haven't decided if I'll gloss it up a bit or not. I think it looks a bit aged in it's current form. Any opinions? Just some of the parts used... For the pickups I've tried to go in more of a period-correct direction than the AVRI's by using the SD Antiquity pickups, and these ones have the raised A pole pieces too. Thanks again to Mr. Fingers for pointing me in the right direction with this! And also a huge thanks to KiOgan who has wired this all up for me. He's been teasing me with the work in progress pics and it's on it's way to me now! (Note: John was as efficient as ever , but me wanting this type of capacitor held the process up.. I've some more of the hardware due to arrive in the next couple of weeks, so should be finished shortly.
5. Wow....that seems like good value and something that would be a great project!
6.
I had the behringer pedal tuner for a while, and didn't find it particularly responsive in live situations, especially when drop-D tuning was required. I then bought the Harley Benton TU-100 pedal tuner and I have to say I'm very happy with it. It's really cheap too, which helps!
7. Done! Thanks for the link, hadn't heard of this.
8. PM's replied to. Some books now sold - see description for details.

10.
A stray thought caused me to go looking for a definitive biography of Jamerson ... hell ... any biography of him, and I was surprised to find that (apparently) none exists. Yes of course I have Standing In The Shadows Of Motown, both the book and the DVD, but that's not strictly a biography of the man although there's obviously a lot of biographical material in there. I though Rick Suchow had written one, but it seems not. Am I missing something?
I think Rick Suchow just has a good part of his website dedicated to Jamerson, but I don't think he wrote a book. Would love to see one though, or maybe two...one from a fan (like Suchow or Dr. Licks) and one that's impartial!
11. The recent rant about comments on sale threads here on BC made me think about this....but that site doesn't even have bumps!!
12. I saw it advertised months ago with something along the lines of "great heavy sound" as the only description. Spelling Precision, amongst other things, is quality though!
13. ....or maybe not! http://www.adverts.ie/745211
14. Thanks for a great thread! In relation to some of the other posts, I have to say I think what you do is cool. I saw your ad for the '58 replica, and I don't think you could have been any clearer that it wasn't a Fender production bass. Please keep this kind of stuff coming
15. Great thread, and it's fantastic hearing the experiences of others! I fancy picking up up a Fullerton or JV P Bass some day, year of birth and all, it's just a shame people here predict that the Fullertons will appreciate a lot
16.
The problem is, if I went to the trouble of cutting and pasting loads of info, pics and vids of Scott Thunes, it would take me two hours and the thread would get 4 hits. Everything is out there already, if people are interested they'll find it (and that's half the fun). And who is going to trust that dAVE_tHE_bOLLOCKS from Lowestoft who lists his interests as 'saving the Marsh Harrier, blogging the history of melamine, and sitting firmly on heritage potatoes.' has got the definitive reference collection on Robert Palmer from No Quarter?
Point taken It's just personally I'd like a resource like this. For example, EssentialTension started a thread a few days ago that had some very interesting clips of Jamerson that I hadn't seen before. The trouble is that the thread will go down the pecking order, only for a similar one to be started at some point in the future, then only for someone to redirect the OP back to the original thread I like the idea of a bassists section, but obviously it would take a lot of effort from members for it to be useful.
17.
I was only thinking this the other day, I know talkbass have a bassists section and if it's possible would be good to see on here!
This is what I meant
18.
As you say there are a few to particular players already, you could do a search for whoever you're impressed with & if nothing appears start one yourself. Not sure if you mean many threads, each dedicated to one specific person or not? There is this http://basschat.co.u...ts-of-all-time/ which appears to be close to what I think you said & there were others long ago. So long as no-one turns it into an attack on others personal tastes or an exercise in who likes the most obscure player they're generally interesting enough.
Not so much as per your link. I was thinking more along the lines of people setting up a, for example, "Bruce Foxton Appreciation" thread where people can post videos, photos, links etc. into one place. So it wouldn't be like an X is better Y argument. Just a thought...
19. I'm just wondering if these have been done before. I'm always thinking wouldn't it be great to be able to come on to BC and find a thread with info, pics, videos, song credits etc of your favourite bass players. I see threads about Jaco and Jameron all the time, but they sometimes seem to become dormant in a short space of time, only for someone else tounwittingly start up a similar thread. The bass players I admire range from Jeff Ament to Jamerson to Jaco to Mani etc etc.... Personally I'd love to be able to find a good thread with loads of the above plus opinions, critiques etc. What do you think?
20. I sold Gary an MIJ Precision Bass body. He was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish and I'd highly recommend him to others! Thanks, Paddy
21.
Nice thread - love the fact that clips of the great man are finally emerging
Nice thread indeed! Had only see the Marvin Gaye clip up until now.
22.
You have a PM
PM replied to. Thanks.
23. Body is now sold. Still have tuners, pickguard and bridge. Prices in first post. Thanks for looking!
