Excellent basschatter right here - great attitude, excellent communication and very pleasant to deal with, instantaneous payment - what more could you ask for? Deal with every confidence.

Ok, I'd like to get some good longlife strings that can last me relatively indefinitely (or at least much longer!). On my main bass I do change strings fairly regularly, but on my very first bass, I've still got the stock squier strings! I'd like to find a middle ground I've heard good things about both the Elixirs with their plastic coating and the Optima Gold coated strings. The thing that scares me about Elixir is that they seem like they go all furry, so I'm leaning towards the gold plated (particularly with my gold hardware!). Or is there something else I'm missing. For the record, no, I'm not going to stop being a lazy cheapskate and change my strings regularly!

Ok, now I've got almost my entire rig sorted out, the only thing I'm missing is something to carry my baby in other than the godawful "Ritter Junior" bag that I've been lumbered with since I started. I've got a 1984 Fender Jazz Special (an uncle of the Duff McKagan signature as they call it now) so I figured a Fender gig bag would be a good shout - and I've been looking at this one for 37 quid delivered: http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_deluxe_gigbag_pjbass.htm Any thoughts? Is there a better and/or cheaper option out there? Or a better place to buy this from? It looks like it's pretty sturdy and has a good array of pouches. Thanks
Kinda missing details, but the answer is probably in this thread. Reckon you might need a shimming.
Mobile basschat has failed me and only displayed half the post. Won't even let me edit it! Apologies I'll check out the link when i get home. Think it needs a good experienced set of eyes to have a look.

Well, seeing as I'm a bass player, i did the sensible thing and got a badass ii for my fender jazz special to replace the stock bbot bridge. EDIT (stupid phone) However, this has left me with rather high action, even at the bridge's lowest setting. So what are my options, and how have people resolved this in the past? I don't particularly want to go back down the bent tin avenue again :-| Is routing the badass into the body an option, or is this stupidly expensive? Is it better to shim the neck? Or even try a different bridge? Any ideas?

Haha, lots of debate here. So my question is... does this mean my TC stack is rubbish in a live situation or what? :-/

I bought a TC Electronic RS210 cab off Barrie yesterday. Every step of the way he has been nothing but understanding and relentlessly helpful to my situation, and he's got excellent taste in books and music to boot! One of the most pleasant and wholly unselfish people I've ever had the pleasure dealing with, I say with every sincerity that I couldn't recommend him any more. Top bloke! And what a collection of basses :-o Feels awful coming home to my fender/status mongrel and hohner steinberger copy :-(
Just to add, Dave is a top bloke to buy from. Sorry to hear about your scamming mate.
Thanks a lot dude Right back at ya! So the guy on ebay claimed that the av receiver had been damaged, didn't work, I'd dropped it, etc, but when he sent it back, it was in full working order. Who knew! Must have been knocked back into shape in transit

Like a right saddo, I'm starting my own feedback section, as I'm increasingly finding myself making transactions on here, and it'd be nice for people to know that I'm not just a random weirdo or a conman Be gentle...

I've bought a Status Graphite neck, a Fender Jazz Special body, a Leo Quan Badass II, a Hipshot D-tuner, various screws, some neon bass lights, a BOSS Chorus and Compressor, a Zoom B2, a Mordaunt Short centre speaker off this man, and he bought my Squier Vintage Modified off me. I've also borrowed the entire DVD boxsets of Battlestar Galactica from him, and he's given me so much bass advice it's almost unbelievable. I can't say I've experienced the bubble wrap surplus problem, but we live in the same town so I suppose we can let him off Needless to say, he's an utterly top bloke and I'm proud to say he's one of my best friends in the whole wide world. So deal with him with every confidence! However, I do have him to blame for distorting me from a "cheap bass -> combo amp" kinda guy into a "spending money I don't have and posting relentlessly on this forum about minutiae" kinda guy. B*****d.

*SOLD* Pedal Board, Power Brick and Limiter/Enhancer

Ok, following on from my last post where I mentioned I've been scammed by ebay (thanks paypal!!), I'd like to also point out that I walked away from the £20 I withdrew from the cash machine today. Sometimes you make your own bad luck So to recoup my own stupidity, I'm selling my old pedal board, Maplin 5-way 9V Power Brick, and Behringer Limiter/Enhancer as a bundle for the princely sum of... £20 delivered. Yes, for all 3 as one bundle, all of which cost me £20 a pop back in the day. Nice little starter kit This is a heavily modified (shall we say) effects pedal board. Good solid construction, the base felt was naff so I ripped it straight out and replaced it with some heavy duty velcro, which I will include in the purchase. (Picture below, some pedals not included and are only shown for effect.) The Limiter is a great behringer pedal, which some reviews I've read claim to be actually better than the boss equivalent. The 9V battery plug was only half soldered in when I bought it, but it's been running fine off the power brick anyway! The Power Brick is the good old maplin standard. 5 connectors for powering 5 9v boss-type pedals.

Right you are guys, I've been scammed out of £200 on ebay, university is looming, I'm skint, and not being made bankrupt by buying my new cab is my only priority right now. So I've got to sell all of my trusty old boss pedals I'll warn you up front that most of these have a couple of scratches to the body, but this is mostly from stray leads and plugs. They've otherwise been well looked after, cleaned regularly, and only sporadically gigged. These pedals are all fully tested and working as good as ever, and will be dispatched well-packaged by next-day courier. I'm in dire financial straits after taking this hit on ebay, so help a brother out here [s]Now this pedal is a real classic - in excellent condition, with original box, and never been gigged - it's a holdover from my brief guitar playing days and has never seen a gig. £25 posted.[/s] [s]CS-3 Compression Sustainer. A few superficial scratches but otherwise in good condition, excellent pedal. £30 posted.[/s] SOLD POSTED GONE [s]NS-2 Noise Suppressor. A bit more scratched than above, but still in full working order, works like a charm in eliminating annoying hiss. £30 posted.[/s] [s]CE-5 Chorus Ensemble. Battered and beaten with one (included, but not pictured) broken topless knob - ooh err - but still absolutely lush sounding chorus pedal that works just fine despite the deceiving looks. A tribute to BOSS build quality £20 posted.[/s] SOLD POSTED GONE

I'm flogging these excellent hi-fi speakers very begrudgingly because bass is more important to me than surround sound right now. I would have held on to these, but I've been screwed over on ebay for my AV amp, so I'm currently down 200 quid and an amplifier, so these have just got to go. http://www.mordauntshort.com/summary.php?P...ant+903i+bipole Pictures to follow, but they're in excellent condition, Calvados finish, and they're currently being stored in their original box and packaging. £200 O.N.O. And that includes free delivery. Truly fantastic as rear speakers, these hard-to-get dipole speakers have fantastic dispersion of sound. Hopefully someone on here would be interested, I've had some terrible luck recently, so no scammers or horrible people, please

I did the 'C4 mod' on my old boss tremelo pedal, in which you simply cut out the c4 resistor and it instantly sounds a million times better! Just goes to show they don't always know what they're doing. Same reason i sold my old marshall guitar amp - let's make valve distortion redundant by implimenting a 2 second delay and fadein when changing channels. Ridiculous!
