1. Updated the gear page moffatt bass bash
 2.
I will bring the W&T Spectrum and Zoid, room permitting in the motor, as I'm travelling up with Russ and Alan. Be nice to see you again Joe, can't wait to see the Sadowsky. Me too........a few pints and a Ruby.......... sounds good to me mate.
Alan was telling me about your Zoid this week Cameron...looks like a real beauty pal...looking forward to seeing that in the flesh. Will update the gear page later with your bits Dave

 4.
LOL @ the pic of me trying to see off the hangover with a Redbull. Change of plan - instead of taking the wee Schroe I thought it might be fun to bring my MB 104HF. Matt you'll be sitting on the roof. Is there a band again this time?
No, just us to make the noise agian Won't be as late a night as last time......3am ish as I remember (or not) B&B has a bar until 12.30 this time - probably a very good thing
 5.
I was one of them. I did mean to come but my evil wife made me go on holiday with her on the same day. I might bring her along to be excruciatingly bored. Ha ha.
Better yet, come down the night before and stay at the B&B...we are pretty much all more on the mature age side than 21.....It was genuinly a great laugh last year.
 6.
Would I be allowed just to turn up on the Sunday? The web page makes the curry and drinking sound obligatory. As long as I don't have to play anything because I'm only a covers band player I would be happy to bring anything that seems interesting to anyone (see sig).
Yes...you need to eat a curry before you can come down, its obligatory..... I know Alan would be happy for annybody to come on down on the Sunday...just dont expect it to be a gas free room...... We did the stay over things last year and it made the whole thing spot on, very relaxed and a great laugh, and you just get to know each other over the course of a few beers.... Last year Alan originally had lots of guys say they would come down, who just didnt show, and made the do a bit of a letdown on numbers, but we had such a good crack he wanted to do it agian.... Dave
 7.
Mmmm curry - is there good ventilation in the hall?
Not enough for your guts Al..... And here is a link with some more details:- moffat-bass-bash It also has a gear page saying whats coming up...some of its has changed Eh Peter...need to update yours... Having said that mine has just changed as well..... Its a top laugh, nice to go for a few scoops the night before and makes the next day a little more relaxed than the usual meet ups Dave
 8. Both sold to a nice guy called Tim, pending the usual transfer of money Dave
 9. All pms replied to pretty much as soon as recieved, but for some reason I am not getting any thread updates...no idea why.... I am based in Chorley (near preston) M61 Junction 8 Would like to see them go as a pair, but no big deal to split them. Dave
 10. I had one of the early SM900 heads (before the chrome front). It was an awesome head, heavy of course, as all of these types of amps are, but a seriously good sounding amp. The eq and twin channel is a fantastic feature. Run it bridged into a good cab and bloody hell... Good luck with the sale. Dave
 11. Change is as good as a rest as they say...... £225 each including cover plus shipping. (cost to be confirmed but I imagine its around £10-15 per cab) Up for sale is my pair of Aguilar GS112's including a pair of very Roqsolid road covers to keep them squeaky clean. Both are the tweeter version with adjustable horn level, 300w 8ohm cabs. Mint condition, sound fantastic, compact, loud and a very easy one hand carry. Any body is more than welcome to come and try them out before hand. These are great cabs, I just fancy a change. Only thing I would be interested in trading them for is a Schroeder 1212L And here are some photos :-
 12. The Omni 15 is a fantastic sounding cab, but size is a factor for me, so on balance Probably the Schroeder 1212L. Its small, loud and light, holds its re-sale value well, and sounds great (to me at least).
 13.
I agree that you can pay the supplier to do straight cuts, but that still leaves you with the angled cuts where the horn starts and ends.
Spot on David ....Bills cabs have lots of angled cuts, its all part of the horn construction, anything but a simple square vented box, so getting the panels cut for you will only help on the standard outer box panels...having said that, if you take your time its really not that hard, just a little time consuming. I built my own death saw to cut the panels... Older Omni 10:- Omni 15:- Dave
 14. Well I tried out the Schroeder 1212 tonight at rehearsal with the band. Great sounding cab, plenty of volume, very articulate sounding top end (I love top end sizzle and twang in my sound). It had masses of btm end, didnt sound as thought it was lacking in that stakes at all. This was the standard 1212 (not the light weight version) but to be honest it was still a one hand carry in. I am now pretty interested in what my two GS112's will sound like again at next weeks rehearsal. This is my initial thoughts:- If I had the two stacks side by side, and was buying from new, then I would probably go for the Schroeder, as its a little cheaper than both GS112's and smaller in total pack space. Its the size of your average 2x10 compact cab. Sound wise both settups (to me at least) are great combinations, I would be happy with either option... The question is, do I sell the GS112's and purchase a Schroeder.....tough call to be honest, and I don't know the answer at the moment...if money was no object I would keep both set ups...but money is of course always a decider.... I have to say a massive thanks to Lemmywinks for letting my try out this cab, Cheers pal !! (Will drop you a pm and arrange dropping it off at the weekend at some point...) Edit:- just to add I play 5 string, and it had no issues handling the B, sounded very tight..... Dave
 15.
I guess if we all liked the look and sound of the same Basses, Amps and Cabs, there would only be 1 range of each. At least that would be an end to GAS as there wouldn't be the choice. Each to his own I guess. They started off as Guitar Cabs and have gone down a storm in the US, it remains to be seen if the look will work as well on the Bass Cabs.
I actually like the look of them......but I am a little odd It still astounds me that your Zoot cabs didnt even have neo drivers, and they still had to be held for fear of floating off into the sky..... Astoundingly light cabs
 16.
OK so i ran the cab in anger last night for the first time since getting it! ran an ashdown MAG600 head through it. the cab is rated at 8ohm so volume wise was pretty much 3 qtr on the amp head. had good bottom end but did fart out a bit, and the high range lacked clarity. So defo decided to change the driver. I'll prob keep it a t 8ohm, so if i get 600w at 4ohm out of the head, i gues it'll be around 450w at 8ohm. So which driver would be best to put into the MAG115 cab?? to ensure i get good bass response (no farting) and decent high sound??? I'm thinking eminence kappa????? Advice/suggestions gladly welcomed!!!!!!!
I would seriously step back and stop at this point.....take stock of what you really want to spend and look at getting an alternate new/used cab. Throwing in an alternate driver could just be like putting money down the drain. Try a few alternate cabs if you can, work out what you really want, but just throwing a new driver in an existing cab is only likely to loose you cash, and not really gain much in tone/volume. Perhaps it will handle more power, but only in as much as it wont burn itself to bits...Its not likely that you will gain much in percieved volume. Dave
 17.
I heard 2 2x12's at the Northwest Bass Bash; they where INCREDIBLY light but sounded distinctly average.
I would agree with that entirely, Ludicrously light stuff.... Bassbunny has a set of the 1x12's, nice guy, drop him a PM perhaps.
 18.
Come to think about it, Yes, Yes you did. But i think at that time you wanted to rip it open!
Mmm....you may be right about that as it was during my massive speaker building phase..... No longer the case....building speakers cabs aint fun anymore with running my own business, family ect....not to mention that its almost impossible to build a cab to a high standard for less than buying one....(time is very much money when you are self employed......) I long since sold all of my BF gear (PA and bass cabs) Steve (Lemmywinks) has just Pm'd me and hopefully sorting out a quick swapsy to try it out.....absolute star. To me the only way to really get how a cab really works is with playing it with the band. The price of them is fairly good over at SHX (£575 for the 1212L I think) And thanks to thisnameistaken for the offer as well ! Dave
 19.
I know Lemmywinks has my old 1212R. I've heard they sound pretty similar?
Cheers Steve I did ask you ages ago to pass the details on Just found his profile so will drop him a PM to check this thread out.
 20.
you thinking of selling the GS cabs..?
Only if I hear the 1212 and like what I hear. I love the GS cabs, but if I can get a smaller package, then yep they will be up for sale.
 21. I am looking to try out a Schroeder 1212L(only interested in the 1212L), but would very much like to try it at a rehearsal with the band. Does anybody have one near to Chorley / Preston / Blackpool area....and if so would they be kind enough to offer a try out of the cab. You are more than welcome to try out my 2 GS112's in exchange. Obviously I will pick up / drop off the cab to suit. Just want to try them out in a real band environment before I place an order. If so drop me a PM. Cheers, Dave
 22.
....there is DEFINITELY a different tone on the ceramic vs neo...I tested the two high end Berg 1x12 mini-stacks. The ceramic had tons more...how can I put it, smooth and chunky roundness, ignoring the tweet. The neo sounded great, but more light and aggressive.
Not doubting what you are hearing at all, but the reason is probably that the drivers themselves are possible not the same spec in that instance. perhaps even the cabs are tuned differently. If you get a neo driver and a standard ceramic driver that are designed to the same freq spec you should not hear a difference. People always will of course..... As has been said say though, 1x12's even with standard drivers are not heavy. My Aguilar GS112's are an easy one hand lift, but are now classed by some as 'heavy' in the small cabs bracket... Size is probably a bigger factor for more people than weight.
 23.
Right, ive got an ashdown LG1000 which i know is 2x500 at 4ohm. I run off one output into a markbass 2x10 (4ohm version) .....i 'm planning on using a second cab (ashdown mag15) which is rated at 8ohm. ....
Only thing here is that unless you have seperate volumes at the output stage, the 4ohm 2x10 will be putting out a lot more volume than the 1x15 8ohm cab....Its always a crap shoot when mixing cabs, it may work just fine, it may not be balanced at all....try it and see. Dont get suckered into the 'I need a 15" to add more bass' view. Some do some dont...My own experiences have been mixed on this. You will possibly be better off with another identical 2x10, if you get chance try both and make up your mind that way. Dave
 24.
- first gig with The Silver Dogs.
...small world, say Hi to the guys from Me pal... Darren is probably one of the best guitar players I have heard in a band for long time...Top chaps Mrs P is out that night or I would be down..... Dave
 25.
I'm so glad you bought those cabs Dave. How's the arm BTW?
The arm is nearly fixed...still a bit broken...but almost back to normal...... Got a gig with a floyd band in a couple of weeks and will probably only use the single GS112, but then it could be a loud one...Yep both of them it is......Just hope my arm holds up..
