I'll be watching the final,as I'm still housebound with my back.
A few beers, some snacks and not taking it seriously is the order of the day

Not a clue I'm afraid.
My first set of the shorties haven't arrived yet.
That being said - I have used the long scale ones on shorties before and as long as the tuners were large post ones they didn't break at that end.
I've never had a Mustang so I don't know about the string bends needed at the bridge end.
I'll have a look to see if I've got any old sets lying about that I don't want when I get a moment. If I do then I'll send them so you can experiment.
you're a gent, thank you

I had a rick copy, with musicman style pickups, it was really good. Sold it because I wasn't in a Jam tribute anymore (I helped my mates out and bought it because it looked good)
I also had a prototpye neck and body, in sparkly silver, that I put a P bass set up on. Made of basswood, very light. Played and sounded great
David does a great job

The other thing I’ve found is that if it has the three foldable legs position it in front of you as in the Y shape. Then if someone comes flying forwards into it it goes to either the left or the right due to the leg that’s pointing at you. Whereas if you position it like an upside down Y it hits you straight in the face.
What a great idea. I do that anyway but not for that reason

There are so many out there. And not always who you think
Ive had the misfortune to have gigged with 1 who was convicted. Another that committed suicide when found out and another who is under investigation.
I had an older neighbour too, he was a photographer and was about to go to court but he then committed suicide too. My wife had his card marked from day one.

What! No mention of Gibson's famous short-scale basses. I've three EB-3s, a couple of which are now for sale, not because I don't like them, I love them, but in my later years I wish downsize- don't want them ending up in my estate.
I'm a Gibson person (got some Thunderbird "76"s too), but like all Fender aficionados- they'll have Gibsons, I've got a 1967 Fender Jazz in my arsenal.
Roger
I once had an EB0. I'd forgotten about that one
Did a few gigs with it but I still didn't quite understand about basses. I'd love to try it now with my current set up. I bet it would sound marvellous

My JMJ has the same profile as my '73 precision. I've never played another precision with this neck profile but it is wonderful.
I've gone short scale because of shoulder problems and I love my JMJ. I still gig long scale occasionally

I'd not come across much Ashdown, but they certainly seem to get a lot of love on here, I will check them out.
The Ashdown founder was actually the Trace Elliot founder
More love for Ashdown from me too. I have the RM500 EVO II. Love it to bits

yep, lots of love for short scales here
My main is JMJ Mustang but I also have two hofner violin basses now
I started on short scale basses in 1981 and bought my first Violin bass in 2012. They are now my main instruments
lighter, easy to play as they are shorter and the athritis likes them too

I had this Bass VI for a couple of years. I probably played it half a dozen times. I had good intentions to do something interesting with it in a band, but it never came to fruition. I have recorded with it though doing a baritone riff and it sounded great.
I echo other's feelings that the string spacing is too tight to be used easily as a main instrument fingerstyle if you are used to more typical spacing.
I have since purchased a 'proper' 6 string bass that is more like a standard bass guitar string spacing, but with an added lower and higher string. Much easier to play despite the wide neck (especially if you are used to 5 strings). So much so that it's my main player now.
It really depends what you want out of the instrument and your expectations as to whether a Bass VI will be any good.
wow a custom shop one, bet that was a few quid!!
I would play it it with a pick probably, if I go that way

Great basses these

I watched it. It was quite enjoyable. I liked the background music.
The characters were good too.
People who write this stuff dont understand the music industry so I take it for what it is.
All in all we enjoyed it

I saw the GG thing last night, I was surprised that in the 1999 trial they threw out the case of the 8 year old as it was too old, and that when it did get in the paper, the fact he had sex with a 14 year old when he was 49 was there as a sideline to the shocking reveal that he was actually bald.
IIRC the victim would have been given a large payout from the newspaper for a conviction. I think this was also a reason the judge cited for throwing the case out.
Either way he's a disgrace and despicable

I supported the Glitter band in about 1988/89. They were superb

Of course we dont just like bass do we. My favorite musicians are not bass players. A thread for your favourite musicians who dont play bass because we are mature and appreciate music as a whole. Anything from brass, drums, piano, guitar, synth or any stringed instrument. Anything that makes noise well.... Is all good here.
This guy is just a MONSTER. Ive yet to see or witness a guitar player who has this much on the guitar. There is no doubt Norman Brown could probably play anything written down in front of him. Of course its subjective. But his feel and touch. James Ross is his bass player who is also a MONSTER...
very nice, very george benson, lovely feel too

ah I see. The holes are in the f/board and the neck, (in the words of Dave Lamb) CLEVER
I've heard of people drilling tiny holes through the fingerboard to the neck and using those as locating holes (under the dot markers I think)
