  1. You’re better off exploring MIDI and using expression pedals or an IPad to control individual parameters.
  2. As I have owned or still own all the pedals/amp sims you mention above (im currently using an HX Stomp) I feel fairly qualified to answer this. My feeling is that the quality of the Modeling has improved not so as the audience might notice the difference, but that the player feels the difference. I really liked (and still use on occasion) the Bass POD XT, but the step up to the HD500x felt more natural to play. The Helix Modeling moves things on again in giving the player the best experience and reaction to the amp sims. I’d also add that application is a factor when trying to measure the quality of amp sims.
  3. Very tricky (unless you’re very good with electronics m) without installing the guts of a Variax into your instrument, or using a Variax bass.

    Octave

Loads (most) octave pedals allow you to mix each octave separately; MXR BOD, Aguilar Ocamizer, EBS Octabass etc. Not just the OC-2.
  5. Yep, just had the same email 😔
  6. Not really, the synth section on the unit is very limited and (as it is replaces the bass signal rather than augmenting it) has fairly poor tracking. That said, when covering something material girl I would use and OC-2 or similar to get close. The GT-1b has a great OC-2 sound. If you solo the -1 octave, add a bit if compression and maybe a bit of filter and you’ll get in the ballpark. If you really want to sound like an analogue synth, best thing to do is (as said by so many in the know on this forum) get an analogue synth. Something like a Novation bass station 2 or Moog little phatty will easily cover 80’s style synths like you mention above.
  7. Same here. I expect it’ll come in the next week or 2.
  8. You will not regret it.
  9. Mine says delivery by 21st Feb.
  10. You’ll need an account at Line 6, but shouldn’t need to register the Stomp. You’ll need the Stomp plugged into the computer via USB at the same time as running the updater.
  11. Sorry, in waxing lyrical I forgot to directly respond; it’ll work just like a Bass Whammy if you so desire. Well done sir, yes exactly that. 👍 You update via the Line 6 updater software on your PC or Mac.
  12. The pitch shifting and is one of the most impressive features of the HX Stomp. I’ve just setup a -4 semitones queens of the stone age patch and it tracks as well if not better than my VB-99! I also setup a Unibass style patch with excellent results.
  13. Me too.
  14. I just got one too. Great bit of kit. Think I’m going to get a Gekko switcher as I’d like the ability to ‘engage’ the patch having scrolled to the correct one. I'm also contemplating going fully frfr as a result of how good the amp modelling is on the HX stomp.
  15. I think there’s even a ‘Pino’ patch if I remember correctly?
  16. Y, the software is Gumtown from Talkbass and VGuitar forums editor. It’s the software that Roland/Boss should have developed and didn’t. https://fxfloorboard.sourceforge.io/info.php?model=gt-10b
  17. If you’re sure the cable is working (ie. You’ve tried running other hardware through it that worked) I would uninstall your drivers and start again. Make sure the GT-10b isn’t connected when you reinstall. Forget the Boss software and use GT-10BFxFloorboard. It had all the Boss features plus all the editing features you’ll ever need. I’m running GT-10BFxFloorboard on an IMac and it was a sinch to setup. I can’t imagine it’s that much more involved on a PC?
  18. What software are you trying to use?

    obbm's feedback

Bought an ART headphone amp from Dave. Perfect purchase. Excellent comms, arrived next day, packaged amazingly including a print out of the manual. First class service and (as if he needed it, judging by the previous 16 pages of positivity) another high recommendation from me. This is why I love Basschat.
  20. Love the headstock logo 👍
  21. Yes, micro POG is digital and has wet and dry outs. I’m sending the wet output woth ocatve up only through the GT-1b (it has high gain Gtr amp sims) adding a bit of delay and verb gets you close to the RB type sound. I’ve actually spent a lot of time working with different setups; AKAI unibass, micro POG, and even Hex pickup equipment to achieve the split effect. I still favour the POG and a multi such as the GT-1b.
  22. You are correct, I’m splitting the signal in a micro POG and then processing the signal with the GT-1b apologies for not being clear.
  23. Cheers for the heads up, now ordered.
