1. Im hoping to see AndyDye in his band next month in Sheffield, the fantastically named Fargo Railroad Co. I contacted him at random for some information on Kiogen wiring kits after reading his comments about them. It turns out we know eachother from being in bands as teenagers! We used to play gigs together. Small world eh? Top fella, looking forward to seeing them!
2. Maggie May. The only redeeming feature of that song is that I can mess up as much as I like and it will still sound authentic. Stones tunes always annoy me too, it's like I can play note for note inside out but I still sound awful!
3. All I can do here is add how amazing the service is that John provides. Just received a Precision kit and a Jazz wiring kit. Fitted the P one already with ease thanks to the clear instructions, there was even a little screwdriver in the package, good eh?! No more soldering for me! I will be ordering more as my bass collection grows. Thanks John!
4. Great guy and really great to sell to, great communication. I recommend! Thanks Ray!
5. Hi everyone On holiday in France and can't sleep. Just been 'counting basses', it's like counting sheep but with basses that have been and gone over the years! So by the wonders of free hotel wifi I thought I would start something with you all. Two simple questions. 1. Which bass do you wish you had kept hold of? 2. Which bass turned out to be a stinker? My answers 1. R*ck*nb*ck*r 4001 - a 1975 beauty, sounded like nothing else before or since, sold it when money was tight. Bad move. 2. Musicman Stingray - it had the weak G string problem, it drove me nuts. I wish I still had all the basses I have ever owned!
6. So here goes, these are split in to Teen Days, Young Days and Middle Age Days. Old Days to follow in about 20 years... Teen Days Metallica - ...and Justice for All Guns n Roses - Appetite for Destruction Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys 1 and 2 Iron Maiden - Powerslave and Number of the Beast Primus - Frizzle Fry Young Days Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American Interpol - Antics Gene - Libertine The Strokes - Is This It Subcircus - Carousel Longpigs - Mobile Home Middle Age Days Weather Report - Heavy Weather John Coltrane - Blue Train Jaco Pastorius - eponymous And more to come... Not very exciting but they have all been important in some way or other.
7.
Talking Heads - 77 Television - Marquee Moon Pixies - Doolittle Nirvana - Nevermind Fugazi - The Argument Fever Ray - Fever Ray Interpol - Antics and loads more I've yet to think about...
Carlos D! I have often wondered why people don't mention the bass lines of Interpol more. I have listened to Antics more than any other album ever recorded!

10. Hi Having a gear clearout to fund a Barefaced! This is a fretless Squier VM Precision neck. Its got a few marks on it from roundwounds but generally in good condition. I bought it from Telebass on here. If you have played any of the Squier VM series basses you know how great the necks are on these things. Its from one of these - http://www.fender.co...color-sunburst/ £45 shipped. Sorry about the poor quality pics - hopefully you get the idea from them though. Thanks for looking! Julian

Amazing pickups that frightened the life out of me with how much output they have! I have added an link to the original advert because I cant upload images at the moment. Should be able to later tomorrow though. 12. Hi Up for sale is my John East J-RETRO 01 in black. If you have clicked on this listing then you know what these are all about - I put it in a Squier VM Jazz and its amazing! I bought this from Paul S on here a few months ago. Selling the bass I put it in so dont have any need for the preamp now. I dont think they they make them in black anymore so here is a link to the chrome version for specs etc. http://www.east-uk.c...j-retro-01.html Good condition. 13. Just about to put an SVT3 Pro up for sale, if I sell it quickly then I will be having this!!
14. I've done few school productions now and Little Shop is my favourite. The bass on the film soundtrack is really good fun to play I found. We are doing it at my new place next February. I try to listen to the songs plenty for a good 2-3 weeks before even picking up my bass. For me it seems easier to learn them that way when I finally get the score in front of me. I feel like im playing the song rather than just playing the notes from the score. I found that my Jazz suited the songs better than my P bass but of course thats all personal taste! Have fun and enjoy!
15. Kim sold me the first items I have ever purchased through basschat. They we pristine condition dimarzio pickups and I couldn't be happier with them! Really great communications and fast delivery! I wont hesitate to make further purchases when he has more items for sale (and I have the cash to buy!) Julian
16. I have an MBE410-II 4ohm arriving today! I will be pairing it with an Ampeg SVT3 Pro and a USA Fender precision. I will be back to report on how it sounds! UPDATE - Used it at a very loud rehearsal yesterday. In a word - awesome. The cab itself is really light and i can carry my bass case in one hand and the cab in the other when loading. The combination of the bass, head and this GK cab produced some amazing tones and volume! I couldnt be happier with this cab. Highly recommended.
