[/quote] I've not played a Stingray or Big Al so in all honesty cannot say - but looking at a couple of Talkbass threads it appears that Bongo neck is 'different' to the other EBMM basses, at least.     **SOLD** For sale, used 2005 Music Man Bongo 4HH in black with graphite pearloid pickguard, including a custom leather strap that was created from an image of the pickguard pattern. Now that my band is only playing Motown and blues, the Sandberg VS is getting all the playtime because of its custom PB63 pickups suiting the material better. Excellent neck with a rock solid bridge and tuners. Very easy action adjustment via the truss rod wheel and bridge saddles. Wear and tear: Some chipping on the edge of the fingerboard , a chip on the bottom front near the strap lock, and a thin scuff on the front of the headstock (see photos) Comes with original Music Man hard/plush case (some scratches on outside, see photo slideshow), the case key, cleaning cloth, a wiring schematic and an Ernie Ball sticker. Strung with Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys. £725 couriered in the UK - I will use Aylesford couriers who are near me and have been recommended on the Courier thread. The bass in the Sandberg's cardboard box, with plenty of bubble wrap. Or £700 of you want to pick up, I'm 15 mins from J5 M25. Payment via bank transfer, or PayPal (buyer pays fees).     Just an update on this: we ran both monitors active in the end off the mono aux mixer feed, and it worked fine - as suggested above it meant the sax/harp/piano/vocals could be mixed independently for the monitor feed. Thanks again for the advice!

    I've only played a MM Bongo! Really must broaden those horizons...or go the James Jamerson route and keep the Bongo for 30 years and never change the strings/adjust the truss rod again...

    First jam recording - bass drum and lead guitar were missing! Bass is Bongo 4HH through Trace GP7SM 130 and Trace compressor....mic needs better positioning as it wasn't so distorted live.     Thanks for the advice Musky and Muttley (Deputy Dawg and Stop the Pigeon references in one thread, love it ) . Tried out the steps above, nothing obvious and still distorting when tested separately...so I've now got a couple of new Celestion BL10-200S in there and they sound great, so will see if anyone is interested in the dodgy ones for parts.

    OK no luck with either the rubberised Super Glue or Copydex, have opened the cab and now suspect the wiring... The speakers are the original Celestion C10H-100s at 16 Ohm. The amp and cab are rated at 8 Ohm, so I would have thought the default wiring would be parallel to present 8 Ohm. But, it does not appear possible: the red/black leads coming from the cab jack socket terminate in one +ve and one -ve spade connector. So at best I would be able to connect those to one speaker and then link that to the other in series, to present 32 Ohm....not a good match for the amp. Any suggestions on how best to achieve parallel wiring? Cheers. EDIT: schoolboy error - parallel achieved by jack to speaker 1 +ve, then onto speaker 2 +ve; then jack to speaker 1 -ve, then into speaker 2 -ve. Distortion still there, so am going to bite the bullet and get a couple more speakers...

    Much appreciated, Dad 3353 and iCastle - I'm going to give it a go as I'm fully prepared to swap out for a pair of Eminence. I have some of the "Power flex" (rubber infused) Super Glue, which is intended for flexibility, will let you know the results!

    Hi all, my Trace Elliot 2x10 (2001T) cab sounds distorted at all volumes, both speakers seem to be at fault. They are Celestion 10"s rated at 16Ω, wired in parallel, and have been plugged in (with speaker cable) to a Trace GP7 SM 150, which has two 8Ω speaker outputs. The Amp is a combo and sounds fine with its own speaker, but trying the extension cab either with or without the combo speaker plugged in results in fuzzy distortion...(I have tried both speaker outputs from the amp, no luck). The dust cap of each speaker appears to have lost its bond with the cone for approx 1/3 of its circumference, see red areas circled in pictures: ...could that be causing the distortion, and if so any tips how to fix it? Thanks for looking and any advice much appreciated

    One thing that has helped me when recording live to Garageband is a USB Mic (Blue Microphones 'Yeti', £67 from Amazon), as the condenser mic on the Macbook Air is tiny and misses a lot. It also has an omnidirectional setting which is ideal for placing in the middle of a band jam.

    HI everyone, I'm Kevin, from Tonbridge in Kent, and have just started bass again after a 20 year hiatus! Have been jamming pub rock numbers with mates with a view to playing the local pub in summer, bit of Nine Below Zero and Feelgood to start with. Picked up a discounted Vintage EST986 (St***ray) knocked down to £170 because of a miniscule scratch, not bad at all; and a furry TE GP7 SM combo which is plenty loud enough for the pub! I've promised myself not to upgrade the bass until I've got better than it, which won't be for some time...but having a history of the dreaded GAS (especially in my other hobbies of vinyl playback, cycling, comics) I'm sure the inevitable will occur - doesn't help that I walk past a genuine 4 HH Stingray every day in Tonbridge's Vintage American Guitar shop! In fact the only hobby I have which can't involve GAS is Taekwon-do, although that would change quickIy if bionic leg implants were available... Looking forward to chatting with you all Cheers Kevin
