1. Sorry for the delay in updating the thread. The bass finally arrived in mid December and it has taken me this long to put it down and get to a keyboard. Here are a few pictures and there are more pictures with a full review of the bass on my blog (http://tiernangodel.co.uk/shuker-jazz-bass/) It is another stunning example of Mr Shukers workmanship and it plays fantastically!! 2. Very nice mate...I'll bet you can't put it down!! I hope it's everything you wanted
3. So...I just had a chat with Jon and it looks like I should receive the bass by Thursday this week Here's a cheeky picture he sent as a taster and to check some final details. If I said I am excited it's probably an understatement in the extreme!!
4. Great job Dude!!! I love the whole bass - from conception to the finished bass!! That Lion scratch-plate is particularly special
5. I've been watching the progress on this and can't wait to see it all come together!! The rotary control is really interesting...Are you having one control switching from Off-parallel-Series-single coil that effects both pickups? I had wanted to put a switch in my build like this but went with the 'both pickups Parallel-both pickups Single Coil' switch in the end. Maybe I could get it rewired at some point... Sounds like a really versatile bass you've got coming there
6. Thanks guys...Just added a new close-up picture showing back of the neck... I'd not thought of the similarity to the SR5...I put together my favorite aspects of each Shuker I owned and then added a few extra things...this was the result. Fingers crossed it turns out as well as I hope!!
7. Having had two previous basses built by Mr Shuker, I wanted to use the experience and knowledge I had gained from the previous builds to spec up my ultimate bass. The previous basses have been a Shuker series II which I have now sold (Here's a link to the build diary - http://basschat.co.u...age__hl__shuker) and my current number 1 bass, a set-neck Single-Cut bass (no build diary for this one unfortunately!). My reasons for ordering this bass are varied but primarily I wanted to have a bass of the same caliber as my SC bass in the form of a jazz bass. The spec on the new bass is here - 5 string custom jazz 34" scale 24 frets 17.5mm spacing at bridge nut width 45mm neck depth at 1st fret 20.5mm 12th 22.5mm 3 piece wenge - deep set neck macassar ebony board two way truss rod carbon fibre reinforcement MOP side dots small frets brass nut white headstock finish black shuker sig headstock 1, 4+1 with string trees Hipshot Ultra light tuners neck lacquer so the grain of the wood can still be felt j bass custom shape, deeper cutaway, extended horn ash body, multi chambered upper bout polyester bisect Olympic white colour nitro finish satin topcoat 1 x Tort & 1 x Black s/plate (to be fitted first) chrome hardware rear rout control cavity hipshot A style bridge removable ramp – Black Ebony Kent Armstrong pickups - Dualcoils (with a radius) – Parallel / Single coil switch (With the wiring done so as to allow a switch to Series / Single coil if desired) 60' spacing (bridge pickup 1/2" nearer neck) John East pre, U retro BLI001 – Jon East battery life indicator side jack The bass was ordered mid September last year and I'm expecting it to be finished any day now so I thought I'd share the spec and various pictures with the Basschat community. With any luck I'll get an email from him in the next few days and I can add some pictures of the finished bass. I'll update with any further developments..!
8. OOoo...It's getting closer!! I'm looking forward to seeing them...He's about 3 hours off finishing a jazz for me and I really can't wait.
9. These basses are absolutely fantastic....another fine example of Jon's handiwork. Good luck with the sale
10. This is looking great...My set neck SC Shuker has become my number 1 bass for almost every gig. I'm pretty sure you'll love it. It'll be interesting to see this one 'come to life'
11. Money transfer in progress...sorry guys, looks like it's gone. I'll confirm when the funds have arrived and it has left these shores..!!
12. On Hold...Sale pending!!! Looks like it going to Paris....
13. Sunny Sunday bump...more information requested via PM so here it is for everyone else too: Neck at the nut 45mm; at the 12th fret 65mm; at the 24th fret 74mm The body at its widest point (across the back pickup) is 325mm. The Schaller bridge is 3-way adjustable and the neck can accommodate a string spacing of 18mm and go narrower than the current setting of 17.5mm.
14. The burl is amazing to see in real life too!! Bank holiday bump... Any reasonable offers...?
15. MrT-Bass

sold

If I didn't have another bass on the way, I'd be all over this! Great bass and an amazing price!! Good luck with the sale
16. Bump...I had another play of this yesterday and am still floored by the finish, action and overall playability and sound of this bass. Such a shame to have this in a case, not being played!!! It's crying out to be loved by one of you luck player...
17. Post-teaching bump...!! Weight added to the specs in first post!!! 4.6kgs
18. Saturday night Pre-gig bump!! Shame to have this beauty sitting at home...
19. Bump...2000+ views and no real contenders...? This is a whole lotta bass for the money!!!
20. I'm not in the 'Kidney market' but I'm sure one would buy a Shuker or two....and this could be one of them
21. Thanks for the comments guys I've had a few offers of trades but nothing I 'm going for. I really want a cash / bank transfer sale. This really is a stunning example of Jon's handiwork..such a great player and if you ask me, it's a bargin (I guess I would say that but it really is!!)
22. 'Should probably be out in the sun whilst it's here' type bump Anyone...?
23. I'm pretty sure it can be removed but it really is tiny. Since it has been serviced it has got less pronounced. Maybe due to the wood soaking up the lemon oil and re-expanding...? Either way it's barely noticeable. And it in no way impacts on the playability or sound of the bass as it is purely a surface indent. I hope that helps
