1. I have the Rosseti bass mentioned in the topic title - I was wondering if it would have any value at all or any use to a beginner? The Bridge on it has warped and the Estring has snapped. The other strings are ok, I think they are Spirocores if I can remember correctly. Is this bass worth selling and for how much or should I just chop it up and burn on the bonfire?
 2. I could ship to Europe. I'm not sure how much it would cost tho.
 3. Thanks everyone for thier help and advice. I 've ordered a Thomann Hybrid bass with a quilted maple laminate back and sides. Looks nice, should arrive in early Jan now!
 4. Thanks for the replies. Just looked up the Shen basses and they are the best looking basses I've seen and he seems to know what he is doing. It's becoming more apparent to me that a bass needs to be well set up to optimise it's potential. Unfortunetly I don't have the budget to travel to Ireland for a Holiday... I haven't been on Holiday for 10 years and I don't include touring in that!! Do you think it'd be worth speaking to Tom Barret and would he be willing to ship a bass to the UK. I'd feel more comfortable buying from somewhere like that than say thomann where I've heard their set ups are very basic...
 5. what are differences and benefits between laminated, solid and hybrids?
 6. So, the piece of crap upright I had needs a new bridge and new strings and so thought instread of throwing money at this bass it'd be better to buy a decent bass. I've done some research and I've thought about getting something pretty decent that will see me through for a good few years.... I'd quite like a carved solid bass that isn't that 'schoo' orchestra' orange colour. As far as I can tell there isn't a great deal of choice for buying new or used in the UK - I'm quite happy to buy a secondhand instrument, infact that might be preferable. New I've found an Archer, the Zellar and the Stentor Student ii and Conservertoire(?) Are there any other brands out there I should look out for both new and used? Are the Thomann basses any good - they seem to be mostly laminated. Are there any obvious things I should look for when buying a used upright? I should also add that i'll be using the bass for mainly pizz jazz but will use a bow too. Any help/advice would be appreciated. I have a deep knowledge about electric bass but lost when it comes to these beasts! Thanks

 13. Please check out this video for the Darkglass Electronics B3K. I am a Darkglass Artist and did this video for them to demo the pedal! I thought it would be of interest to some people on the forum. Youtube Cheers
 14. £700 without the flightcase as I would like to keep it. Bump
Just bought a new car so need to sell some gear I never use to help ease the pain! Awesome amp, been fully flightcased since I bought it - only used it for a couple of gigs and a couple of rehearsals. Really versatile, warm sounding amp. Fully working order. £800 with foam sleeved flightcase
15. This happened to me a few years ago with the stand on my WAV. I got a free replacement which when arrived was already broken! I was pretty furious by this point, I must admit as I had a lot of gigs playing upright back then. I eventually got in touch with House Music and bought the upgraded (and properly made) stand for at cost price (£60) which was all they could do for me, or send me yet another WAV stand. I asked them to pass on the infomation that the WAV stands were crap and that they should really do something about it. It kinda pissed me off that I really didn't have any option and that a company like NS Design cut corners on such a vital part of the instrument. Still grinds my gears to this day thinking about it again haha! ah well the new stand is good tho, def worth upgrading!

 17.
Nom Nom Nom (The bass that is not that god awful video! Just to clarify!!!)
Cheers. That picture really doesn't do the bass justice - it looks 10 times better in the 'flesh'! It just feels solid when I pick it up compared to my Fender. I've never had a custom shop bass for and I'm so appreciative and honoured FGN built and gave me one! It's got a really great snap and punch, lots of low end and warm but with a really nice high end that you can get to 'bite' if you dig in.. which i do! I'm hoping somebody will start to distribute them in the UK, they really deserve and have blown previous 'high end' bass I have used out of the water! Oh and yeahhh we ain't the attack attack from the us. thank f***.
 18. So after a week of it sitting in the Parcelforce depot down the road I finally had my FGN Custom Shop Jazz Bass delivered this morning. My first impressions were this is the nicest instrument I have ever played and the build work is exemplary, I haven't found a dead spot on the neck, each note rings out clearly with a bell like 'piano' tone, really 'fast' neck and it just looks stylish. I think I may be putting my 75 reissue Jazz into retirement as main bass! I had the bass built to my specifications, tho with a Jazz there isn't a whole lot you can do but it's finished in Metallic Charcoal Grey with matching headstock, rosewood board/maple neck, ash body, Hipshot bridge and d-tuner, Seymour Duncan SJB-1 pickups and CTS-pots. It has a really cool feature that I think they used to do on old fenders where they leave a bump in the wood at the neck join on the lower hord for stability, I know Alleva Coppolo do this too... if it makes a big difference or not I dont know. Anyway I thought I wold post a pic they had put up on their twitter before they sent it to me. FGN Twittpic Page

 20. curse of the bass player haha! ah well. It's a moded america 75 ri with a badass bridge and quarter pounder pickups. The bass sings - best bass I own! If you want to see more of it you can check out some our previous videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Op1MDTYFs08 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia0DTfz6hqc...feature=channel
i dont listen to alot of this genre of music.. but i genuinely really liked that!! thanks for sharing... just one thing... we dont see enough of your bass! playing is great.. is it a Squire, or a 75 ri?
21. Thanks for every one who has given positive feedback - it's really cool! That song is actually getting day time a-list play on australias biggest commercial radio network right now which is really bizarre! Also loving the BC youtube comments - especially the one 'the bass playing isn't anything special' - made me laugh as all the song needs is a supportive line - I just did what I thought was right, held back and managed to get a little james jamerson vibe on the go. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion tho!
Good stuff. Liked a lot about the song. Great bass sound. The Orange rig was the star. Good luck and keep it up.
22.
I'd pay good money for that show!
haha yeah thosebloody waders - they could;ve at least have got some that were actually dark! ah well not many people seem to have noticed! I can't embed it sorry - for some reason people can't watch it in germany - we're trying to get it sorted out tho.
