2. Hello basspersons, I have one of these; Thumb Bolt-on LTD 2001 Only a hundred and fifty Thumb Bolt-on LTD 2001 basses were built, making them one of the rarest and most precious of all Warwick models. This bass, already a Warwick milestone at that time, marked the beginning of a "Limited Edition" concept that would grow every year thanks to the enormous feedback, which prompted Warwick to create a tradition out of it. The contoured Thumb body is made of 3 parts: an Ovangkol bottom, a Bubinga Pommelé top, and a Maple veneer that goes in between to emphasize the coupling joint. The bolt-on Ovangkol neck has an Ebony fingerboard and little dot inlays on its edge. The pickup configuration is as follows: 2 active MEC J-Style pickups, where the bridge single coil is mounted slightly slanted, controlled by 2-band active MEC electronics. You can also pull the tone knob to make it passive. The back of the headstock is signed by the Warwick boss. A fabulous bass in fabulous condition. I've had it since new, it has been very well looked after and it comes with the Warwick certificate and truss-rod tool, strings and manual. Would any one like to make me an offer? Mike F
3. Thank you Steve, People of basschat; Steve has been a gentleman throughout the transaction. A pleasure to sell to, more than happy to know that he owns one of my old basses. Good man! Mike F
4. Hello Nick, Hazy days indeed! That's very nice of you to say so about my playing, cheers man. It was about 1996. I remember being in awe of one of your recorded basslines that I heard then. Bet I still can't play it! I still have that very 1973 Jazz Bass; gigged it loads since then, all over the place. Anyhoo, back to the thread (ahem). I do recall listening to Squirrel and G-Man, on me Walkman, thinking "that's how I'd like to play bass". And it is, like you said, massively underrated. It was quite an inspiration at the time. Mike
5. Kuff Dam off that album is fantastic. Tart Tart too. Indeed there is brilliantly funky playing on the whole album. I was goin go to say I once played one of Paul Ryder's old basses, owned by a guy called Nick..., and there you are! Nick, remember Macfarlane Road in Shepherds Bush? You were in a band with Keith? Mike

10. Hello there Marcus, It weighs 9lbs. Pictures added now. My apologies for the lack of quality. What looks like a mark inside the lower horn is actually a reflection. The bass is of far higher quality than these pictures! Mike
11. This is a wonderful bass guitar. Made in Japan, has a serial number beginning with B which I think puts it at around 1999/2000. I understand that Fender used EBS pre-amps, for a short period, before changing to cheaper Fender pre-amps. I have an e-mail from EBS I can forward which explains the layout of the controls. Basically it is always active with the toggle switch going between two tone settings. The control knobs are pick-up pan, volume, treble/mid shift and bass. The back of the neck has been refinished; the very glossy laquer has been taken back to a more satin finish. It is for sale for £525, open to offers. If you have any questions I'm more than happy to answer them. Thanks, Mike.

18. JPJ said; "I then came up with the bridge riff, which is in E. The riff is rather tricky sounding, as it's built from a repeated phrase that's four and a half beats long. Each time the phrase is repeated it's rhythmically displaced by half a beat". Led Zep found it hard too! Just keep playing it.
