Ok, so I am in the market for my first phaser and have been looking at the above. Do people think that the MXR is a good phaser, is it worth the extra £40 odd pounds to get the 100 version and what alternatives might you suggest to look at in the same price area. I have seen the 90 version for about £80 and the 100 model at around £120 which is the very top of my budget. There seems to be some love for this phaser but is that because their good or is that because their well advertised? I love the Moog but I can't stretch to that at the moment. Comments and ideas always appreciated. BH12neil

Thanks for your post, just looked up the details of that amp and it runs at 140 watts at 8 Ohm, would that be ok if the cab runs at a continuous 250 watts. Never quite understood the relationship between amp watts and cab watts? BH12neil

I have just managed to pick up a ridiculously cheap Ashdown Mag 210T Deep cabinet which I have decided to use for home practice. Its rated 250W/8 Ohms with 2 x 10" drivers and so the question is what amp head would you guys and girls recommend to run it. New or second hand the budget is about £250, I have one rack space left in my main rig so it would be useful if I could utilise that but not essential. Another point is that I have a spare speakon cable that I can use with this cabinet so an amp that is able to take this connection would be useful, but again not essential. The one thing that is important is that the amp in question should be compatible for headphone use so that I can practice whenever I fancy rather than when is reasonable taking into account my long suffering neighbours. Of course I realise that I'm not going to be able to compare what's recommended with the quality of my Gallien Krueger main rig but nevertheless I don't want to sacrifice all quality just because its a practice rig. Sound quality within the constraints of my cab remains important to me. As I'm still relatively new to this game any recommendations or thoughts steering me in the right direction would be really appreciated. Regards, BH12neil

I have tried plugging the bass in and it hasn't impacted on the noise, I have also listened when no instrument leads have been plugged in and its the same. It seems that its the same in all circumstances, the only thing I have noticed is that the hiss doesn't increase with volume which is why I am a little confused. Thanks for all the comments its really appreciated. I will rig the amp to an Ashdown cab that I have and power it direct from a wall power socket instead of an extension lead as is the case at the moment to see what I learn from that and then I'll report back with the findings. In the meantime any further comments really appreciated. BH12neil

Hi, Hope everybody out there in bassland is having a good Christmas and looking forward to the new year. Here's my question:- I have just taken delivery of a GK 1001RB-II amp and two GK cabs; a Neo 212II and a Neo 115III. I've wired them up for the first time using the speakon cables provided to find that there is a gentle hissing/hum coming out of both the cabinets, its not loud but it is irritating. I have changed all the leads over in all the various conatations and have tried setting up in the full range mode, none of these actions has illiminated the noise. Now I am new to this sort of kit and I don't know whether this low level noise is normal or whether somewhere along the line there is a problem with either the cabs or the amp. Common sense tells me that the cabs should be silent but perhaps this is not the case. I have to say I am really frustrated by it because it has taken months for the amp and cabs to be delivered to me and the last thing I want to do is get involved in returning items if there isn't a problem but if there is, obviously I want to sort it out now. Any advice on what might be the problem, if indeed there is a problem, would be really appreciated. BH12neil

Hi there, Excuse my ignorance here but this is all new to me and the following question may be a stupid one, nevertheless here it is anyway because I don't understand. I have set up a pedalboard and my understanding is that the last lead runs from the last effects output to the amp. As the title of this thread indicates I have a GK 1001 RB II amp, but I don't know where to connect the lead. Is it to the 'Input' socket, is it to the 'FX Out' socket, what is the 'FX Return' for? I've looked in the GK manual and done a quick search on here and still non the wiser. Any help really appreciated. Kind Regards BH12neil

Have been looking at the pros and cons of these effects for some time now and still can't decide which to go for. So when in doubt ask a man or woman who knows; what are your experiences using these pedals and which do you feel offers the better quality? Help as always really appreciated. Regards, BH12neil

Thanks for your comments. Sorry I have just realised I've not made myself entirely clear, the Zoom isn't powered by the pedalboard power block, its plugged via an adapter into the mains and so in that respect is entirely separate. I guess that was a bit of an oversight of mine not to note that. Any other suggestions as to solve the problems? Regards, BH12neil

OK I have just set up my first pedalboard, a Gator powered by Gators own power brick. My chain is as follows:- Stingray - EHX Bass Big Muff Pi - Zoom B2.1u - GK 1001 RB II amp The Muff seems to work OK although I think I may be losing some volume when the Zoom is in the chain, if I take out the B2.1u the Muff works perfectly as does everything else. Its the Zoom that is causing all sorts of problems. I get really bad hissing, humming and loss of volume on many of the settings and the interference is driving me mad. I have gone back through the chain and all seems ok until the Zoom enters the equation. Should I move the B2.1u before the Muff in the effects chain, would that help, I realise my cables could be improved upon and I am in the process of doing that in any case, but they are by no means cheap and nasty ones. Any help would be really appreciated because I have only recently purchased the Zoom and I am now wondering whether I made the right choice. That said, I know many of you are very happy with your Zoom B2.1u's so I must be doing something wrong somewhere. Just a final point, please bear in mind that I am new to all this and still have problems understanding terminology, so for the moment keep it as simple as possible and treat me like the idiot I am. I have a 1001 RB II on order but want to get a cover for it in advance, the dimensions given by GK are height 59.7cm x Width 62.3cm x Depth 41.9cm, do these dimensions take into account the function knobs that protrude from the face of the amp and the rubber feet on the base? Thanks in advance to anyone with a measuring tape. BH12neil

A confused newbie here looking for some help. Ok, this is my first excursion into the world of effects pedals and I need advice as to what leads go where. I have a Low Down Studio 110 amp with a main input socket and a preamp out socket at the rear. This is my understanding, please correct me if I'm wrong; one lead runs from the main input socket in my amp to the 'effects out' socket in the pedal, another separate lead runs from the 'input' socket of the pedal to my bass. Am I right so far? That leaves a a third socket on the pedal marked 'dry out', what is this and what is it for, should I be using it? My guess is that its for linking other pedals which at the moment I don't have but hopefully will have in the near future. This brings me to another question which is if in the future I was to invest in some additional pedals and a pedal board how would this work lead wise? Regards BH12neil
