Hi Paolo - are there many players in Portugal who play Jerzys? I have a feeling someone has posted a pic of someone playing a Jerzy in Portugal while they were on holiday a while back. BTW, ARGH should be along any minute to herald your arrival and probably offer to conspire with you in plotting the overthrow of the incumbent bourgoise management of this forum for the glorification of the ERB motherland.

PS: I think trying to use logic to rationalise or deconstruct what are essentially irrational belief systems is a pointless exercise irrespective of whether you're religious or not. BTW: Can we get this thread back on track please?

I smell a circular argument. I used to pick fights with religious zealots for fun when I was at university, just for the sport of strangling them with their own hypocrisy. Hari Krishnas, JW's and Born Agains were all fair game. Now I can't be bothered. Ironically, the world HASN'T changed one way or another. Live and let live I say.

I use the Akai Unibass for the solo as well sometimes.

i play it as recorded, the bass line reinforces the guitar riff but then I mix it up a little during the guitar solo and then afterwards until the finish.

After seeing this lovely piece, tapping on a bass seems a bit crude and harsh sounding to me.

Gents, do you think you could continue this thread without the homophobic comments please?

I was just mentioning my own problems with 6 strings and giving respect for anyone who can get around on any bass with more than 5 strings without tripping over their fingers or losing their place.

I personally have enough problems dealing with a 6 string. For me the biggest difference between a 5 and a 6 is that the 6 sits on my body in such a way that its difficult to see the fingerboard. So a lot of the note choice for me relies on muscle memory - effectively I'm playing blind! I can't even begin to imagine the confusion that a 7 or 9 string would cause me.

hello Jack, we should probably be running a sweepstake to see who makes the first "hi jack" terrorist joke. Welcome anyway, hope you find something of interest.

It looks like the body consists of two facings of 12mm thick plastic sheets which are laminated or screwed (I can't tell) onto a wooden core. Interesting idea, at least he's daring to be different but personally I'd prefer a solid body in 3 dimensions. There's all sort of potential for sweat and crap to get into the spaces between the front and back facings which would make cleaning a nightmare.

The prices are surprisingly reasonable and the more recent Shukers can easily stand up to a Smith or Fodera in terms of build quality IMO. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait, Jon's priorities are quality not deadlines. Just looking at PSN's build diary now, I like that new shape too and it has me gassing for a pair of headless workhorse 5 strings with that body shape using 3 piece maple necks and a mahogany body...but then I remember I already have those coming but with graphite necks instead and a custom body shape and custom pickups.
