  1. After months of mucking about on guitar because it was more interesting, I picked up one of my basses this evening and played.  It was so much more satisfying.  I'll always be a bass player.

Same here, I`m currently loving my recently acquired Gibson Les Paul Studio, but when I pick up a bass I feel "at home". I class myself as a bassist who can play guitar, I could never claim to be a guitarist.

Likewise. I accidentally ended up on guitar for almost the last ten years. Its why I all but vanished from here for so long. After nearly dying from covid I picked up a bass again and realised I may have just wasted the last decade 🙂

It's never a waste... It's all making music. I've been forced into playing lots of guitar at the moment, and though bass is always gonna be my 'thing' I've made a commitment to put the time in and get better. Over the past months I've noticed that when I pick a bass up my playing has changed, like when I'm developing basslines I'm making different choices, imagining how the two instruments will fit together from the outset.
