1. [sub]17 weeks!? that's pretty mental. I ordered a Super Twelve 3-4 weeks ago and was quoted a 6-8 week delivery time. Hope that doesn't turn into 17 weeks for me too, the cabs i'm using atm are horrible [/sub]
2. ha that's what i like to hear! need to go and try one of these out now then... I think i know where July's bonus is going
3. I really wanna go try out and try one of these, just to see if the hype can be believed if for no other reason! anyone tried one with a Barefaced Super 12? I reckon that would make an epic lightweight, ridiculously loud rig!
4. Harry bought my Bergantino NV610. Absolute pleasure to deal with, clear communication throughout, and he's an all round nice guy! Deal with confidence!
5. I used to have a similar model to that, in green though. Really nice bass, can get some great tones out of it.
6. As new Bergantino NV610 cabinet with the berg padded cover. Here's a link to all the specs on Bassdirect: http://www.bassdirec...o_NV_Range.html Absolutely love the sound of this thing and it's ridiculously loud, had it for around about 6 months now and since I bought it I'm not playing regularly in a band any more and it's just too big for the shows I get to play for various artists at the moment. Sad to see it go but I need something smaller £750, collection from Milton Keynes. Pics to follow PS I'd prefer not to trade this. Cheers ***ITEM IS NOW SOLD***
7. Lol guess that might help slightly
8. yeah it does sound pretty extreme and after giving the link a read i doubt i could be bothered to figure out how to mod it in the first place... could spending hours reading that and still not fully understand! Is the VT bass likely to do anything that different to the Sansamp bass driver di?
9. cheers for the replies guys. Will look up on modding the pre amp and maybe some new pre amp valves. The amp is defo designed with EL34's in mind as much as 6L6's, as they say on the website.
10. Hi guys, I'm thinking of changing out the valves in my amp from 6L6's to EL34L's; seeing as there's 12 of them it's not gonna be cheap so I thought I'd draw on the vast amount of experience and knowledge of people on here and get some advice first. Ok so i'm using a Traynor YBA-300 through a Berg NV610, and the sound seems to be more hifi and transparent compared to the Ampeg SVT-CL and SVT-VR which i've briefly owned in the last year and loved the sound of (got rid of them due to reliability and build quality issues) and even though it does sound really nice I'm after a bit more grit and mid punch, seeing as i play 90% rock. I'm just wondering if switching out the 6L6's to EL34's is gonna do the trick? What do EL34's sound like? Here's a link to the amp if you're interested: http://www.traynoramps.com/products.asp?type=5&cat=40&id=435 Thanks in advance! Johnny
11. Bought a Traynor YBA-300 from Eddie. Absolutely great guy real friendly, Amp was in perfect condition and sounds brilliant. Would definately deal with him again. Cheers Eddie!!
12. Hey how quick do you need to sell? im after a one of these but aint got the cash for another 10days... =/
13. yeah man the berg is an epic cab been after one for a while. so hard to find 2nd hand and well expensive new though! would love to come for a pint, gotta get my bro and cousin on board cos they're staying at mine this weekend, not sure they'll be up for it as we only get together 2-3 times a year and pretty sure they wouldn't want to spend 3-4 hours of drinking time in the car you gigging the traynor anywhere next weekend? Johnny
14. sounds good man i'm deffo interested in this amp! i'm eyeing up the bergantino nv610 to go with it gotta return this sh*tty ampeg first tho! i'm from milton keynes so london isnt so far, when's your next gig? Johnny
15. thanks for the replies everyone, & Eddie that traynor yba300 has piqued my curiosity, been reading reviews all afternoon... whats the tone on it like? i'm after quite a punchy rock sound that will cut through a full band pretty easy, how well you reckon this amp will pull that off? cant believe how cheap it is to be honest! gutted i cant try one as theres no decent music shops nearby, and i doubt most places stock these anyhow. cheers mate Johnny
16. yeah i decided to take the CL and got it today... what a foolish move... the unit i received was of poor build quality, and sounded distinctly average and dull. i'm pretty sure that the solid state ampeg that the shop loaned me sounded alot better! as soon as i pulled the amp out of the box i heard a rattling from inside it, and on inspecting the back of the amp it appeared that the black cubes on either side were hanging off, and one of the tubes was pointing out at a precarious angle. now at this stage im like... damned if i'm turning this thing on it'll probs explode! i opened up the back and the cubes in there were fairly secure but the screws and glue from one side of them had failed, and one of the cubes had bent (i call them cubes as i have no idea what they are, please excuse my ignorance!) then i turned the amp upside down and a 2 1/2" screw fell out from somewhere!! plucked up to courage to turn it on and it works, but its really nothing special and i would never have bought it if i have seen it and heard it before hand... so far my experiences with ampeg have really put me off... cba with all this bs just gimme a decent amp... can anyone recommend an alternative amp? i've heard the fender bassman 300 pro is quite good but there is no place to buy them, and some people have been praising the mesa 400+...
17. been trawling through alot of reviews and shizz... theres not really alot out there on the VR vs CL in terms of the sound/tone. it seems like the VR goes louder from some of these reviews. is there anyone that has tried both that can give an A B of tonal quality between the two?
18. Hey guys, does anyone know the difference between an Ampeg SVT-VR and an SVT-CL? i know the vr is based on the 1970's svt's trying to recreate that sound... but seeing as the description of both amps mention that classic 'ampeg sound' i dont really know what the differences are, sounds wise... which would you recommend? i bought a VR but it broke after 2 hours and ampeg cant get the parts for a good few months, & i already waited 3 months for it... they offered me a CL instead but i'm not sure whether to take it as i don't know what the differences are. gotta make a decision by early next week =/ thanks in advance Johnny
19. i would be well up for this but my band has just had a year's break, we're getting our act together with all new songs which we havent yet learnt! probs be ready to gig in a couple months! www.myspace.com/manyfalls just sent the track thats up there to get professionally mixed
20. noooo just my luck! no sooner than i have to spend my NV610 savings fund on a new car, this pops up!! dang it! been waiting for a 2nd hand one of these for ages
21. I live in Milton Keynes, however the shop I bought the amp from is in bonnie wee Scotland
22. In the first week of july i bought an ampeg svt-VR ex display for £750, wasnt a scratch on it, it looked like new, turned up to band practice and within 2 hours the amp broke... it got sent back to the shop mid july and they couldnt fix it so they sent it back to ampeg. it's now the 2nd week of sept and i've still not got it back and had no indication of when i will get it. in fairness to the shop they've loaned me an ampeg B500DR to use in the meantime but we all know it just doesnt sound the same. surely it cant take this long for ampeg to fix the darn thing??
23.
Dropping the price from £70 to £60 - an absolute bargain!
Ok I cant refuse this amp for £60 lol. When's a convenient time for you that I can come buy it?
24.
Had this one up before, only selling as i need something with a bit more life in it. 100w Ashdown Five Fifteen bass combo, great condition and only been used once a week for the last 6 weeks or so. It's got the carpet style covering and looks and sounds brand new. Looking for £70 for it, can arrange to meet or whatever is convinient for anyone in Staffs or West Midlands. Pictures available on request - this is the standard version, not the one with the head & cab im afraid. Thanks, Sean
i may be interested in this; just upgraded my ashdown mag600 to an ampeg svt-vr, its way too loud and massive to use as a practice amp in the bedroom! i know this five fifteen is 100w but just wondering how loud it actually gets... would still need a bit of headroom if you know what i mean. also can you put a few pics up? cheers Johnny
