1. Updated
+1 UPS (US --> UK). Had a (heavy) rack preamp sent over. No problems except for a one-day delay in delivering. Ended up not having to pay custom fees, but that was just sheer luck.
2.
well how's this; i'm from the south but live in the manc - a zany twist in this location based thread? or maybe just a case of some guy from the south living in manchester? crrrrazy...
You've blown my mind man.
3. I was plucking away at Floyd's "Money" last night. Before that I had my usual Motown funtime. It wouldn't have sounded 'right' on any other bass IMO.
4. Yummy. Would prefer a 412 though.
5. I had a Laney 410 that was very nice. It's their SS heads I have a problem with. Has anyone else had any reliability issues with Laney?
6.
Bill Fitzmaurice. I was referring to Bill's post about speakons costing roughly 4 times as much as jacks.
Kudos to the vintage vibe but I don't expect Ampeg to skimp.
7. There's a couple of 'Fenix' basses for sale near me. Any experience anyone?
8. Wow. Do you have any preferences? You clearly have some experience to share. I think you owe it to your host market members. That's a disturbingly clean thumbnail you have there though
9. I'd reckon a clip-wire frame for the A bass would look cool. Would love the option of a more traditional (yet abstract) look. - Like the Yammy silent electric uprights.
10.
Interested to know what bass you use - I sometimes have similar problems when I use small necks.[[smaller the neck, the more you need to cramp your hand to play]..Also do you do warm up exercises before playing;particularly important now It's getting cold..
A warm up and warm down would be very helpful regardless of the weather. Although I don't know how related it would be to the nerve endings. I reckon a neck that fills the space but isn't too gig is the best compromise. I play a jazz neck and I felt the pains when I first started playing on it. It still feels a bit unnatural sometimes. I like the potassium idea. Everyone should eat a banana a day anyway. There's enough in the world.
11. mmmm, that's just about bashed up enough to make you go all tingly when you see it in the flesh.
12.
UPDATE Well......he got his first bass at the weekend and spent Sunday learning a couple of U2 tracks - 4 note specials - and feeling very pleased with himself!! Piano practice tonight didnt raise a single complaint for the first time in months. Thanks for all the input, advice and brilliant posts. cheers L
Aww lovely to hear. Keep us updated.
13. Welcome to't forum JC. Your englush is clearly better than mine.
14. Am I right in thinking the Corvette might be a little weighty? Something to keep in mind. I do love the $$ tone though.
15. Well here's some southern love. Welcome to the forum.
16. Is the Ashdown 410 not 8 ohms? Surely you could have just plugged the speakers in the Trace's extension out. Then everything gets used except the Ashdown head...(no big loss)...
17. 99ster posted it first with a different seller (and a higher price/better fb if I recall).

20.
I checked that out last time it was on Ebay as I live quite near Chichester and it's better in the looks department than the sound department, sadly! It's a completely empty box with two unbranded 12" drivers in there, so you can definitely save yourself the journey... Nik
Gahh, thought as much. A guilty price..
21. My apologies. That's me stereotyping as usual.
22. Sorry. Lakland Joe Osborn check here: http://www.lakland.com/basses.htm
23. Gorgeous DJ. Although I hate you for not knowing your old blue one had Fralins. I'll never forget it I'm afraid. Never.
24. Very cool
25. The 'You're' in the title is killing me. I'm so ashamed...
