1. Couldnt make it anyway, but its not really my thing, having been to similar in the past. The reason for the post though, is the photographs on the blog, that contain basschatters, will they have their real names or usernames added. I've noticed in the past, that similar pics from events and gatherings etc, show photo's and captions such as; "steve, bob and paul....", whilst this is great if you know them, in which case you'd know their names anyway, it doesnt help the majority of us basschat folk, who only know most people by their usernames? Just a thought, Really looking forward to seeing the blog though, as you always do a fab job bluejay, and will be good to see what many of us missed. Rick.
2. Great result, and good method. Leo always made things simple, to allow any repair to be carried out quickly, once you have the replacement parts of course. Another great bass saved. Good work fella!!
3. We're hardly comparing eggs with eggs her are we. Its definitely way over priced, but i personally haven't seen another in this spec/finish. He's obviously hoping a custom colour fullerton collector will jump, if they don't, the price will come down, nothing unusual in the sellers methods. As Barrie says, you can get a CS model for less, but then they are less rare, 2 on ebay now, heres one; http://bit.ly/1p8BMQy as for quality and authenticity of feel, if the price wasn't the issue, i know which one i'd have......actually thats not true, I'd have Barrie's '64!!!
4. Well, it is nice. Its a very rare custom colour. Its a stack knob. It has all the candy, none of which looks like its ever been fitted Its a Fullerton reissue, although not early enough for me, to make it a real 'collectable'. But, it is still a very rare bass, in 'collectors' condition, and therefore it will command top, top money. I agree though, its a grand overpriced for me.....at least. Cant see even the keenest surf green addict biting at that price. Its lush though isn't it. Love to see these in that condition. Personally, I'd much rather have this one, just as rare, mary kaye stack knob, blonde, gold. Half the price, just as nice. 5. I've recently had problems with being able to 'return', and stop everything being in one continuous paragraph (Now fixed after reading others experiencing the same on basschat site...thanks) Then I had problems with typed text not keeping up with my typing, now fixed using the little icon thingy, as requested...thanks again. Now when I click the 'quote' icon, to quote someone in a reply, the reply box appears, but the quote doesn't?? Just me??? Why are all these issues only seem to be appearing on basschat?, I've not experienced any of these issues on any other sites? thanks in advance.....and hope!!
6. NOW £349 Decided to sell my set of vintage Boss Pedals in Boss BCB-60 pedalboard, as they simply don't get used. I bought these last year, as I have never really delved into effects, never my thing, but was offered these as a set against a part trade, and thought I’d give them a whirl, as the set looks great, and they are also pretty scarce these days, (some more than others of course) I'd prefer to keep them all together, (price is for all…obviously, which is what they cost me I think). If you are only interested in one of them, then I have no problem with you PM’ing me with your offer, and if they don’t sell as a set, and I can shift them all individually, then I may go that route. It would be a shame to separate them though. You can see in the pics that 3 of them have original instructions, and 2 have the boxes. The board suits them just fine, and has space for another pedal, and a tuner. Anyway, what you see is what you get. A very cool set of vintage Boss Bass pedals. Offers on the set are always welcome, by PM only please Pics;
7. Don't know if this is old, or if I've even posted it in the right place, I don't do upright, but thought this was pretty impressive....and I don't mean the dogs fleas! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyUZh_Cbw6Q#t=108

9.
Hi Rick In what way did they reduce the spec? I'm curious as I have a 2xxxxx 62 jv and a 7xxxxxx 57 jv, both very nice. I know they changed to poly finish after the fender logos. Anything else? Cheers Ted
They changed the wood from sen ash to alder initially, then quickly to basswood. The neck profiles changed. The slab rosewood was changed to veneer i think in late '83 or '84. The tortoishell material changed to something nothing like the originals (As per the current awful crop of CS releases), and from 3 to 4 ply (on the '62's obviously). The tuners changed from a period correct closer-thread gear, and smaller holding screw, to a larger screw, and multi thread tuner. Threaded saddles were replaced for slotted i think in '84,a nd the brass shielding plates were ommitted too at some point.The decal was changed to a large Squier decal. The pickups were changed. The wiring was plastic coated. No chrome covers were installed, or mutes on the jazz. From memory, i think thats about it, although I'm no expert on JV's after '83. From what i've heard, the quality of woods and electronics were even less after this time. Serial numbers shouldnt be used exclusively for dating these, as per original instruments. Neck/pot dates should also be used, but, as with the originals, certain characteristics can also accurately date an instrument, which on the earliest JV's, you can often date it to within a month, just by the details. As wioth anything Fender, there are always the odd exceptions to general rules though! Hope this helps. This is only based on my experiences though, I wouldnt claim to be a JV expert. Rick
10. That is the bargain of the year (and last year!). I've never seen one of these go for less than a grand, and I've seen probably all of 'em. If I'd seen this, I'd have had this too, especially at that price. Not to be confused with Squier decals. Congrats to the buyer. Proper result!!
11. This is a good idea. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Zero-Mod-Thumb-Rest-for-Fender-Jazz-Bass-No-Modifications-No-Holes-In-Black-/221350847649?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item338989e4a1 You could easliy make one yourself out of wood or plastic to suit your pickguard screws?
