1. Hi Steinberger say that the body wings are hard maple and the body top is flamed maple. The neck is a hybrid of maple and graphite. It does take double ball end strings but is also provided with grub screws (like with the Status) so that you can use ordinary strings if you can't get your hands on DBEs. I hope that this helps Graham Here is the blurb according to Steinberger: Steinberger has long been famous for designing the most comfortable and balanced basses the world has ever seen and the Synapse bass is no different. Designed by Ned Steinberger, the Synapse bass guitar is a HYBRID instrument combining the strength, rigidity and clarity of graphite with the warmth and beauty of wood. At the heart of every Synapse is our Cybrosonic™ neck featuring our patented graphite U-channel with adjustable truss rod uniquely crafted into a 3-piece, hard maple neck. We then add a smooth and durable phenolic fingerboard and a glued-in body design to create an instrument with distinctive tonal clarity, sustain, "pop" and response as well as ultimate stability! One low-impedance, active EMG USA bass humbucker mounted at the "sweetspot" combined with an internal low-impedance preamp and a stereo piezo bridge extends the range on both ends for earth-moving lows and phenomenal transients from slap-style playing. Internal trim pots allow you to adjust the balance of the piezo output between the high and low strings if needed. Equipped with a Rosewood saddle for warm, pure tone, you can install an optional aluminum or composite saddle to create other tonal possibilities as well. Other features include a gorgeous flame maple top, our Combo™ headpiece that accommodates both DoubleBall™ and single-ball strings, the patented 40:1 ratio, direct-drive double ball bridge for super-fast string changes and rock-solid tuning stability. With it’s headless design and new, innovative “Strap Hook”, the Synapse bass balances perfectly and positions the bass in the ideal playing position when standing. The fold-down leg rest accommodates performance while seated as well. Provided with a premium, padded gigbag, the Synapse’s headless design is compact and capable of fitting into tight places including most overhead airplane bins. Put it all together and you’ve got a bass of unequalled performance, comfort and flexibility. Steinberger - State of the Instrument.
2. I am selling my Steinberger Synapse 5 String fretted bass. It comes with the original box, gig bag and Allen keys (attached to bass). The bass is in 'as new' condition and has no noticeable fret wear or marks apart from one small ding recently acquired on the neck which does not fall under the fingers when playing.. Happy to post and also happy to travel a sensible distance to meet. I am based in East London. I am looking for a Sandberg 5 string Jazz type bass to replace it with. I would consider a Part X with a lightish 5 string.
3. I have a Steinberger Synapse 5 that I would like to move on. I assume that you'd not be in interested in that? However, if I could move on the Steiny then I would be interested.
4. Do you know whether the Dynaverb is one of those made after 2008?
5. I am wondering as well as Phil if you are still selling this body?
6. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
7. I have been reading a thread on replacing V1 in the GB Streamliner 900 and understand that Mr Foxes used to have a selection of excellent vintage replacements available. Do you still have an EEC81 to sell Mr Foxes and, if so for how much?
8. I live in London E1 and work in London NW6 but as the post says I'm happy to drive a few miles to meet if this helps.
9.
Bump for a nice speaker and owner
I say - thanks for the 'nice owner' bit. I missed this first time around :-)
10. It is tweeterless, without a tweeter, has no tweeter. It is in fact a Midget and not a Midget T :-)
11. Quickest sale I have ever seen - whoever is buying this will not be disappointed - I love mine
12. I haven't taken any photies of the wee beast. It's in perfect condition, as is the cover. However, I should manage to take some over the weekend and plop them on this post.
13. Thanks Bod. Yes I received mine from Alex fairly simply packaged. I'll ask him for any hints about sourcing a box.
14. Has anyone on here ever posted a Barefaced Midget cab? If so have you any idea of postage costs/the best service to use (Royal Mail/DHL/UPS etc)? What about getting hold of packaging (a good strong box)? All answers gratefully received.
15. I am selling my Barefaced Midget which is in perfect condition having been protected in a Roqsolid custom felt lined case from new. I bought it from Alex at Barefaced in December 2011. I have used it with my acoustic (except for me) 3 piece for rehearsals and a dozen or so gigs. It is the black steel fronted version with 2 speakon sockets. Collection from NW London is preferred but I can post if the buyer pays. I am also willing to drive a few miles to meet the buyer if this might help. Photos here: https://db.tt/BEohEgqa For those who don't know about Barefaced the Midget uses a 12" speaker. Barefaced are renowned for their sound quality, sensitivity and power handling. This Midget handles 600 watts and is 8ohms. It only weighs 20lbs.
