1. Lovely playing Bill. Thinking about one of these to use with my 3 piece indescribable band but worried that there will be issues with the others hearing it properly when trying to play along on stage... hmmm think on
2. I am selling my EBS Multicomp True Bypass Dual Band Compressor. It has 3 modes: Tubeism, Multi Band and Normal modes Controls for Compression and Gain It is in perfect condition having been protected in my pedal board when I gigged it. I bought it from The Bass Centre in February 2010. I don't think that I have the box but will have a look later. Photos will follow later. I live in London E1 (Whitechapel) and work in London NW6 (Kilburn)so the pedal can be collected at either location or I'm happy to drive a few miles to meet if that helps.
3. I have a Midget non tweeter which I would consider trading
4. Hey David - I'm honored that you've replaced this beauty for my old MM. I'm very glad it's gone to a good home.
5. David has just bought what turned out to be my 1990 (and not 1989 as I thought) MM Ray. He was a pleasure to deal with and very understanding about my mistake. He made the transaction very easy leaving me to only box up the bass for collection. I have learned more about my old Ray through David than I was able to remember/ever knew in the first place. A pleasure to do business with. Graham (grelum)

7. This very much looks as though it is now sold subject to payment going through. Thank you all for your generous comments. I will miss the beast but it should be played and I haven't played it regularly for ages.
8. The neck started as matt but over the years it got shiny with use. I'd now call it shiny matt or semi gloss Afraid my bathroom scales are on the blink so I can't weigh it tonight. It's no lightweight but that too describes the sound... just lovely.
9. I'm currently trying to sell/swop my '89 MM Ray 5 (black with maple neck and rosewood board). Its up for £900 and there is a bit of interest (one potential swop - which I can't afford - and one potential buyer). I'd be interested in your Lakland if i manage to close a deal.
10. A few more photos of the beast attached. For the sake of originality I have now replaced the strap locks and put the original strap buttons back on.
11. Link to my MM http://basschat.co.uk/topic/179367-musicman-stingray-5-fretted-1989/page__fromsearch__1
12. I have an '89 MM RAY 5 that is elsewhere on this forum in case you're interested.

14. I think you're right Pete. If you look at the paperwork it lists the magnets as Alnico. I confess I'm not well up on the technicalities but always loved (and love) the sound and the simplicity of being able to switch sounds with he flick of a switch (series/parallel etc). When I got the bass I wanted something that would excel at both finger and slap styles and this was the one for me giving a chunkier and more bass like noise (as compared to; eg Alembic, Wal, Status etc). I traded my old Status Series II 4 string fretted for the predecessor to this (an older SR 4 fretted which was stolen).
15. I very, very rarely ever play this classic which got a lot of use by me between 1989 and 1997. It has been virtually mothballed since then with the exception of a week's playing in November 2010 when it was played in Sunshine on Leith in the Theater Royal Windsor. I now almost exclusively use my Status fretless with my own band and would like to get hold of a Status Series 2 - 5 string (carbon thru body headless to match my fretless). The Ray is black with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. There are 4 chips on the body; 3 along the bottom and one on the upper waist as shown in the photographs. There is the usual buckle rash on the back although this is fairly minor. The varnish on the neck (I think around the 5th - 7th fret level - I'll check) has been dented/chipped. I have not found this to get in the way of my playing at all. The electrics are in great order and it is fitted with Dunlop straploks. I can supply a gig bag (extra £10) or Hiscox case (extra £45) if required. I would like £900 for this or the best closest offer (plus the cost of shipping and case if required). I hope I have properly linked to the photos on Flickr here:

18. I don't have photos yet - but I do have a wee list (in board order): EBS MultiComp EBS BASSIQ EBS OctaBass BOSS CEB3 BASS Chorus All powered by an iSpot.
19. Genz Benz Streamliner 900 - Barefaced Midget After speaking to a friend who had tried all sorts of expensive lightweight options and who settled for (and raved about) a Genz Benz Streamliner 900 and a Barefaced Midget T and a Compact I thought I would avoid all the expensive trying out and I went for the above. I love it - the lightweightedness and the clearasciousness and the loudocity. Well good.
20. I currently use a Series II 4 fretless and quite fancy a 5. Only problem is I'd prefer a through body neck and no head. Shame coz I have a Musicman 5 fretted - black with single active pup - maple neck, rosewood board from the late 90s. If I can get to play an S1 here in London I'll give it a go to see if I'd like one.
