Hi All, having some serious GAS at the moment, just come into some money and its burning a whole in mpocket big time. Looking at replacing my ashdown mag 400 combo. I know i am going to buy a little mark II head but i have to decide on a cab. I am looking at the Aguilar GS112, the Bergantino EX112 ER. I have been to the Bass Merchant web site and i see they have some cabs made by Zoot, i am interested in the ZBB112T. I play a five string and assume all wil be able to handle the low b, a like a warm creamy smooth tone. Which cabs would people recomend, any body got any feedback on the Zoot cabs. Look forward to hearing from you Nathan

Hi there, my 2 pence worth. I got rid of my G&L american L1500 a few years ago. Never really got on with it. The craftsmanship is superb and it looked stunning. But personaly i never really got on with the tone and the neck was to wide for me. I now play a Sandberg 5 string and for me its a much better bass. I suspect you can get equally good basses for less money

Hi there, i have a sandberg california custom 5 string love the bass. Tried loads of different basses when i bought these were lakland, music man, warwick, fender. the only one of those that i would have bought was a music man stingray but it was £500 more. No regrets plays much better than my G&L with such a wide variety of tone. you won't regret" class="ipsImage" /> here's a pic

thanks for the responses guys, had a quick look at the epiphanie, starting to get a bit expensive, although that was the bass gallery and may well shop around for a better price. What about the sound on the G string i be able to get it mellow and heavy with this set up, as an aside would a change to flat wound strings start to give me more of the sound i'm after N

Hi All, the time has come to put a new rig together as i have damaged my back and can no longer carry my big ashdown combo. I have 2 heads and 2 cabs in mind, looking for some feedback and thoughts as i haven't soundtested either yet and would like some feedback before i take the train into london to have a blast. Heads: Mark Bass Little Mark II Genz Benz Neo-pak 3.5 Cabs: Bergantino HT112 Aguilar GS112 I play a Sandberg California Custom with round wound strings in Active mode to give me a much heavier bass, mostly playing nujazz grooves such as D'Angelo, Amp Fiddler etc. I find with my current bass and combo (ashdown Mag 400, 15 inch driver) that the G string is a bit harsh and thin really looking for a thick, syrupy mellow sound. Listen to D'Angelo Brown Sugar album and you should get the idea of the sound i'm after. Any other ideas would be much appreciated, but remember can't go big as i'll have to wheeled into the gig with my back in spasm. Look forward to hearing your thoughts Nathan
