I have this sneaky suspicion that couriers in general treat pickups from/deliveries to commercial addresses a bit more seriously than residential ones.

It depends what you mean by "worth". If you mean financial worth, no way. You will never get your money back on modifications. If you mean to do it for your own personal amusement or to learn more about modding/repairing basses then yes, it is a most worthwhile enterprise. With that in mind, keep all the original parts, if you decide it's not for you then put it back the way it was (if possible) and flog the replacement parts separately, this will minimise the financial loss. Or keep the parts for another project, if you get bitten by the bug

When it arrived, the blend pot was loose (as in rumbling around loose) and when I went to tighten it (hoping and praying that it was the only issue) I found this: A plug in test reveals no output from the neck pickup. I have a good idea where the wire should go, and if that had been the only problem, I'd have fixed it and not another word said. Then as I inspected the body I found this: Noting a scuffed area on the zip on the bottom of the gigbag it came in, I hypothesise that it had been dropped onto a hard surface while in the bag, causing an indentation from the zip and subsequent lacquer cracking. Excellent condition? I think not. Anyway, he held up his hands (almost) immediately. I've been refunded and it's going back today but I thought you all should be aware in case he lists it again without modifying his description.

I had a DeArmond Starfire for a while, it had a pleasant, woody sound to it, light on the shoulders of course, and looked really nice. Short scale though, I ended up selling it for that reason. In the long scale department, I fancy giving an Epiphone Jack Casady signature a shot at some point.

Don't use the truss rod to adjust your action, it's for adjusting the relief in the neck - not the same thing at all.

Yes, I meant the turn of 70s/80s, sorry should have been specific there. They are the same pickups, just made in opaque black instead of clear. For the record I think the clear ones look way cooler. Like on my '78 G-3 I agree it's not worth what he wants for it (it's been mucked about with (switches) and needs a good clean), I was just trying to clear up some misconceptions about the pickups.

The things you point out are more than likely switches to allow individual pickup switching (original setup was a 3 way with bridge+middle, all three, neck+bridge). The pickups changed from being made in clear covers to black around the turn of the decade.

[/quote] Confirmed with a look inside my Indonesian Tribute L-2000: Volume and Treble - A250K, Bass - 1M Doesn't make any sense to differ electronically when the pickups are the same as the USA models and the preamp is a direct copy.
