Two empty 15" ported bass cabs need a home. Come to Somerset and take them away.
More info:
2 x heavy duty (but light) twin ported bass bin cabinets that will take 15 in bass drivers (no drivers fitted). Suitable for bass guitar or PA project. Cabinets are sturdy and in very good condition. The heavy duty carpet covering is intact and the cabs have recessed carry handles and recessed connection panel which has speakon/jack/screw terminal connections. Also there is a pole mounting socket on the top of the cab to allow for mid/high frequency speaker cab to be mounted. Collection only

That is lovely. Sparkle without being tacky. I like it.

eBay have had 9 for sale for quite a while at £305 I don’t think they are selling, Has anyone found who’s selling it at the best price?
Keep an eye on Amazon. They had a couple for under £180 not long back.

I've been where the OP is and it's not nice. I ended up taking a long break. Didn't pick up the bass for a couple of years. Since I've come back I've experienced such a change in my feelings towards what I play that I don't care where or what it is.
Making music is such a wonderful thing to do. In a rehearsal room, at home, a wedding, a pub, jams, open mic nights l just feel glad to be creating music.
So for me it was a psychological change rather than a musical change. But it only came about in conjunction with major changes in my life. Our experience will be similar but our individual stories different.
I hope @spongebob you rediscover the love of music in a way that suits you. Chemistry between players is so vital, maybe rock up at some informal jam nights and see if you click with someone. Could be a start.

Considered a clear one with just a hint of colour?

Beauty. And a bargain too by the look of it.

I always thought that this was an American band... Here's a classic slice of US soul from Merseyside:

Dammit - busted!
I didn't spot it right away, I thought here's a man who's happy with his bass, they will surely never be separated. No this is true love, until death do us part stuff.
It was like you'd cast a spell

Oh it's also a finely written review with great photos.

This is genius, 8th Dan level, Ninja marketing. A superb glowing testimonial, igniting burning GAS left right and centre so when the bass turns up on the for sale page in a fortnight a gagging populace starts a bidding war.
Sir, I salute you

By the way, I f you need TAB for Oh! You Pretty Things, I wrote it out yesterday. You’re welcome to it if it’s of any use.
Also, I learnt Changes a couple of years ago and this You Tube video was a great help as this specific live performance is what we used as a template. I know it’s not in the original key, but it has some great fills in it which are very easy to pick out from the video. Have fun 👍
Oh my! Can't count the times I've heard this song without really listening. Thank you, and the OP for bringing TB to my attention. Wow.

yes, having a great bass line could be why you like the song, and thus the band. But equally having a great bass line may not do any more than roll a turd of a song in a little bit of glitter. So given the choice, for me, a band who play music that I like even if the bass player is pants is always better than a great bass player playing music that I dislike
Absolutely right but you see it's unlikely I'd have been drawn to that song in the first place if it was carp. And I meant to say the bass line would be one of the reasons not the sole reason I was drawn to the song.

And often brilliance is in pure simplicity. It's some of the simplest of lines that make the song. I'm thinking of tunes like Ball of Confusion, Peaches, The Chain and Once In A Lifetime. Try playing along to these and put in a few extra notes and you'll hear how this fooks up the song.
Absolutely no argument from me. When I say the bass part is one of the reasons I like the song in the first place I'm not only referring to virtuoso, faced paced, up and down the fretboard stuff. I love a solid repetitive line as much as the next guy and its very aptness would be what drew me to it.

Just bought a bass from Andy. The couriers tried to scupper our transaction but his packaging was equal to their worst efforts. Great comms right through the deal, can happily recommend Jus Lukin to anyone who is thinking of buying or selling with him.

It's interesting how many people seem able to draw distinction between the song, or band and the individual bassplayer. To me the bassline is such an important part of what makes a great song. It's one of the reasons I love many songs, the bass part reaches out and grabs me, makes me smile.
This isn't to the detriment of the song any more than a wonderful lyric or fine trumpet solo or beautiful voice would be. Yes the song comes first for me but the brilliant bass part is one reason I love the song in the first place.

Order of effects

Really useful thread this. Thanks to those who have so clearly explained their choices.
I've had a love/hate relationship with effects all my bass playing life. They fascinate me but also hugely increase the 'stuff that can go wrong on stage' factor.
I also love a simple clean bass sound where my fingers are the deciding factor in creating my sound. I'm in bands which need them so I've been building my board once again.
However I suspect my main problem with effects has always been laziness. Can't be bothered to put the work in needed to get the results.
The advice here has given me a good head start as I sort out my board, so thank you all again.
