  1. I am investing many hours in a course which would usually cost you. And scrolling back it has been mentioned already. It has already began opening doors in my mind about how music works. It's exceptionally good. But right now free ... so move along nothing to see here etc
  2. I so want to recommend the course I'm doing , but it's free right now and Al is very particular about what he will and will not tolerate. Shame though. It's a doozy
  3. Yep. You can adapt your technique infinitely, but you can't magic a tortoise.
  4. Brilliant! thank you. I know exactly what you mean about the finger nail sound so this could be a straight bullseye
  5. Hi, I know I'm opening myself to lots of people telling me it's up to the individual and to try it for myself. But I figure it's nice to chat about things rather than buy and try and buy again. I haven't used a pick since I was a rhythm guitarist, but want to open every possible door I can into the instrument so I'm going to get me one. So if you have anything other than 'it's a matter of individual taste' or 'but really it is a matter of individual taste' then let's talk. Do bass picks have to be bigger that git picks? Is there a minimum pick thickness below which bass strings are too fat? What weight or thickness or however this stuff gets measured do you like, and why?
  6. wow! Just listened to the first one beautiful stuff. Thanks for sharing
  7. OP must have been very unlucky. Never had a problem with any of the HB I've bought. Could literally take them out of the box and gig them.
  8. Favourite : Hey Bulldog * Least : Yellow Submarine *subject to change on a regular basis
  9. I'm using jamkazam. Improved my latency so I can use it now up until mother loads up a boxset of death in paradise and starts streaming 🤦🏼‍♂️
  10. I would also live without Yellow Submarine, When I'm 64, Piggies and Rocky Racoon. Eleanor Rigsby always been a favourite of mine though.
  11. I hear you! I'm learning to read music at 56 years young and the brain seems resistant to change. Especially when I want it to change.
  12. I'm at it right now. What a lot of work he has put into this. And the early videous explaining how to use the course are an excellent idea. If I ever work again and get some money I will definitely subscribe.
  13. House of Fun. Bit of a tongue twister for the fingers but once you sort position and fingering it's good fun.
  14. Big fan of Vintage basses after picking one up here. This looks lovely. Good luck with your sale.
  15. First time I've ever seen one of these come up second hand. What a beauty! Cash only I presume?
  16. I had a couple of quid come in from work done before the apocalypse so bought myself a crossover. When I take a break from learning my modes and arpeggios I will be having enormous fun trying out various combinations of amps and cabs. Already got a plan for a three way!
  17. @ToolOfIgnorance Want to thank you again. I'm enrolled and on second of the videos from one of his courses. I already like his approach, I understand his explanations and I know I'm going to get a lot from this.
  18. Wow! Thank you.
  19. Thanks both.
  20. I think I want a thumb rest on this bass I bought. I have a thumb rest which I applied with blue tack and I liked it. Blue tack is good but couldn't prevent me pushing the thumb rest over after ten minutes or so. I need a more 'permanent' temporary solution before I put holes in my instrument 😮 Any ideas what wouldn't be unkind to the finish? Hot glue? Sticky velcro? Double sided tape? Or should I simply man up and bang a couple of screws in there?
  21. I know. And there is something about a P Bass / jazz bass matching pair isn't there? However the gigs which might have funded such luxuries are all cancelled.
