  1. Aye, it's a fantastic piece of kit. The sounds are first class and something Zoom never gets enough credit for is how simple and intuitive their multi effects are to adjust on the unit itself.

    Absolutely vital for live work.

  2. Hi guys. Lots of stuff to consider. Appreciate everyone's input.

I suspect that the second hand router I've been using has suffered a bit from being used outside of its comfort zone for so long. It's designed to sit on a shelf after all

I'm looking at a travel router as it's more compact and more robust

  3. Hi. I'm having the weirdest issues with my X Air.

I use an external router (always have) and I have the official app, and the Mixing Station app installed on android phones, on android tablets and on a laptop.

I never know which of these devices (if any) will actually find and connect to the desk.

Last week an ancient Hudl I keep as back up connected first time, this week it just stuck on 'searching' but the laptop connected so it was ok. None of the other phones or tablets found the desk this week.

No rhyme or reason, I never know which device will work, if any.

    Any ideas?

How long does it take to set up compared to a normal mic stand?

Slot it in and tighten two grub screws. I keep the Allen key attached to the side of the board.

It's about the same as setting up a mic stand - quicker than some.

I find it easier to put the board on a table (or on a cab) to get at the bracket without lying in the floor!

Impressive - how is it bolted on and could it take the weight of an ipad (or for that matter, a drunk pub goer falling over it!)

    I used this Screenshot_2023-11-02-15-23-47-96_260528048de7f2f358f0056f785be619.thumb.jpg.c395538d522cb88dd06815128428586f.jpg

and it's very happy with a 10" tablet. The main advantage is no legs sticking out forcing my pedal board away and requiring a long boom which is more vulnerable to audience interference.

Fortunately I never seem to play in front of a crowd sufficiently enthusiastic to knock anything over.

  6. Had a little run of gigs this week and took the B6 for them all. The plan being to use it in the hotel room for a bit of headphone noodling.

Of course I was way too busy with traditional rock star activities to do that, but on stage it performed admirably.

The sounds really are first class. I use it in pedal board mode and I'm finding out more about adjusting effects on the fly, switching between boards and so on.

It's wonderfully light to carry, way smaller than my traditional boards but not so cramped I can't hit the right switch at the right time, and that tuner! It's so stable, so big, so visible - a joy to use.

That's the thing with the filers, it's about finding the one that gives you the sound you hear, I don't ever want to sell any of mine (we'll see) bit one gets used more than all the others out together

There are two envelope pedals on sale in the classifieds (from the same seller), neither of which I had heard of but have GAS for now!

Sounds like we have a very similar relationship with these effects

Right then, this appears to be the correct thread this time...

After having listened to the options listed so far on youtube via some headphones, the EBS is the front runner so far. Will need to speak to the wife as she is the one with paypal.

Thanks for all contributions so far 👍

I have bought so many over the years and the EBS is the best. In a live mix it does the sound I hear in my head when I think envelope filter

  9. We played a surreal event at a golf club last night. German pop 'music', picnic benches indoors, bangers and mash, some people in fancy dress, oh, and us in a big empty room while the punters sat in an adjacent room watching rugby.
