A significant amount of that time was spent designing and having machined the custom headpiece on the bass after both ABM and ETS said they would do it then didn't. This involved getting 3D drawings done and finding someone to machine it. Then a sample made for testing a few changes after seeing the sample. Getting the finish right which took two attempts before the right version was found. Then getting the 20 units finally done because getting one done is not even remotely viable. This set the whole project back a long way. I would like to thank Dave Perry for all his work in getting the headpiece sorted out without him it would have taken longer and cost a lot more. Alan

What they all said. You are more than welcome without any gear but please feel free to bring whatever you have there will be no bass snobbery at the bash.

Hi We have had a drop out so this opens up a space for the weekend. Either a single or a double can be accommodated. Drop me or Dave Perry a PM if you are interested in the space. Cheers Alan

Hi The next MBB has been sorted for the 5/6th of February 2011. All the details can be found on the MBB website (link at the bottom of the post). This year we have been able to Stevie Williams to do a clinic/performance. (The organiser of UK Bassday) Several builders will be on hand on Sunday. Overwater Jon Shuker Haydn Williams Are all confirmed. The resident band will once more be in attendance but with a set list this year so if jamming is not your thing there will I am sure be something you know or could learn. For the weekend tickets the usual B&B plus the curry house and no doubt a few beers. All details are on the site. http://www.moffatbassbash.co.uk/ This is a ticket only event there will be no paying on the door. There are a limited number of weekend tickets left which will be first come first served. Contact details are all on the website if you have any questions. Cheers Alan

That is a fair point Kev, I am sorry to have deprived others of their fun. If you would like to say something inflammatory we can get the ball rolling.

It just plays the same as any other bass you just have more strings to choose from. It is not that difficult to play physically, getting lost on the fret board is a bit of an issue but I am told practise sorts that out. It also helps if you have moved up in the string count gradually. The owner of the bass you linked to was all ready playing a 7 string to the move would not be that difficult. If you only played four strings then the jump would be a struggle. There have been several threads on why would anyone want an ERB all you need is four strings. I don't think they are that helpful and if you want to play a 8/9/10 string bass at the end of the day that is your choice and if all you want is 4 that is equally your choice.
Aye haha, just because im young doesnt mean im disrespectful as most people might think about youths nowadays
I was not implying that because you are young you don't know how to behave. What I said applies to everyone that goes to any bash. -

A few younger guys but I don't see your age being a problem. The only thing that is expected is that you treat other peoples gear with care and respect. -
Ooft, thats a trek
There in lies the problem. If it is not on the door step it is to much trouble. Which in turn means no one organises anything. Not driving however does make things more difficult and that is fair enough. -
Why is always on a sunday??? I got church. Why not a saturday
Most guys work Monday to Friday. That leaves Saturday to get to Moffat and go out for the curry then Sunday for the bash. Saturday would make that all more awkward. -

Don't get me wrong some guys come a long way and it is appreciated. The bulk of the guys attending come from the north of England and most travel a good bit further than from the central belt. -

Last one there was a bit of interest several people said there would be down on the Sunday I made provision for that not one turned up. The next event will be ticket only and bought in advance so we know what we have with regard to funds before the event. This was just post in response to some questions on another forum. Things are under way. We will confirm the date once every thing is booked and I can confirm the number of rooms available in the hotel. Once we have everything sorted out we will update the Moffat Bass-bash website and start taking bookings. There will be the weekend ticket which will include accommodation and the bash and a day ticket for just the Sunday. This is a ticket only event not a turn up on the day event. For the Sunday a ticket must be bought in advance. The ticket prices will be announced along with every thing else and will be the same as before non refundable. We are working on getting someone to come along and give a small clinic /performance same as last year and hopefully a few builders will be present as well. New feature this year will be the song list. There will be a list of possible songs set up in a poll to select a short list of say 10/15 songs. These you can learn or at least the ones you want to play and then played along with the house band. We had the band last time but not everyone wants to just jam so this will introduce some structure and while jamming will still be on the cards this we hope will encourage more people to get up and have a go. I hope to sort out some discount in the cafe same as previous years. Just to be clear this is not a profit making event. All money is spent on the event or on expenses for anyone playing/performing. If there is a surplus it will be donated to a local charity, last year the school piano fund. Once we are up and running any questions can be answered by myself or Dave Perry all cash has to be sent to me. If there are enough ladies coming along the Mrs will sort out something for them to do if they want as I have no doubt listening to basses all day may not be entirely their idea of a weekend away. -

There will be another Moffat bash in the not to distant future we are just sorting out the details. From my own experience trying to get fellow Scots to attend the bash has been difficult very few ever show any interest so that may be the problem and why so few are in Scotland we don't bother turning up. -

5 string bridges with 15mm string spacing
skelf replied to Delberthot's topic in Accessories and Misc
ETS will make a 15 mm spacing I have several headless sets in that size. Not cheap though and would need to be ordered as it is a custom size.
