1. yes just checking alright voted in your competition so wheres the hot action?
2.
Nige, I ignored this bit first time around but now that it's been re-quoted (approvingly) I feel I have to point out the elephant in the room. The plumber isn't plumbing because he/she likes plumbing and because plumbing is fun and sexy and fulfilling and leads to a great social life and some really cool experiences. They do it for the money.
some would say they do it because they see it as a licence to print money
3.
It has happened to me but only with set which are 3-4+ weeks old, particularly on basses which I hand around at sessions. It's usually just grime and oil from peoples skin. Keep some surgical swabs and some rags in the case and wipe down the strings before and after use.
this is why i am somewhat perplexed and felt the need to air it on a thread the strings in question are rotosound swingbass nickels and they had only been on a couple of weeks and been gigged a couple of times (with non sweaty hands) and then placed back in the hard case and promptly ignored for several weeks while i gassed over my new acquisition
4.
Hmm, I see. Sniff your strings. If there's vague whiff of Hai Karate or Censored, it's the keyboard player. If there's a strong smell of Vick's Vapour Rub, it's the drummer.
smells more like somebody been licking the strings after eating fishermans friends
5. nobody else suffering from sticky nickels ?
6. no not the search engine silly i was going to put this in the 'what are you listening to now thread' but it's so bloody lovely ive put it here http://youtu.be/jQWo4tnUMgA
7.
It's hair gel condensing on your strings from standing too close to the keyboard player, simple as that. Keep your distance, no more sticky strings, I guarantee it.
we did forget to put the drip tray down under the drummer one night so it could have been some of the splashback i guess
8. is it just me or does anybody else see any difference regards steel v nickel strings?? i am only a recent convert to nickels but have noticed that particularly if you leave a bass unplayed for any length of time that the nickel strings develope a strange sort of tacky sensation that i dont seem to get with steels i dont wear groovy silk gloves nor do i have a sweaty hand issue in fact i can play hard for a whole gig and still not have particularly sweaty hands like wot i did in my misspent teenage bass playing days a quick rub down with IPA seems to sort the tacky nickels out no problems but having non sweaty hands these days is definitely an economic advantage compared to my sweaty days when sets of swing bass were still well within single figures
9. oui allo bon jour
10. i would suggest that those who can survive on 120 day options are significant in size that cashflow is not a problem to them - one large business to another large business working on 120 day terms might be fine but what i was alluding to in my previous post is large business who dictate unreasonably long terms to small business who really on frequency of cashflow to remain solvent - many small businesses are forced into the option of put up with the contract on long terms or lose the contract when the large business takes their custom elsewhere after the small business dares to complain about length of terms. late payments etc etc - can you guess i am in a small business
11. James Dewar with Robin Trower - I cant wait much longer >>>>> 5:50 ish
12.
Hi steve-bbb, I have the XT (bean shape) and the XT Pro (rack). When connected by USB, the XT can be seen by Tone Locker but the software times out (seems similar to you) whilst the XT Pro works everytime. I have deleted and reloaded the drivers for XT using Monkey, I have updated all possible drivers on my PC too but it's always the same. I contacted Line 6 through the help section on their website a number of times, the response is always update the drivers, BIOS, etc.
hi thanks for reply - ive emailed line6 support yesterday so still waiting for reply have you tried it with midi cables? ive only tried it with usb at the moment because i only possess one midi cable at present
13. 120 tickets sold already - book soon to avoid disappointment
14. Hi Ray thanks yes have registered it and all updated fine
15. this is weird - ive just gone into IE and allowed active x (usually use firefox but the download wouldnt work and trhrew up an active x message in firefox?)- it still keeps displaying the same error message when it tries to read the pod . however if i open up the tone edit dialog window using a downloaded tone, i can adjust all the parameters in real time using the controls on the pod itself - the pod is talking to the pc fine down the usb but tone locker just doesnt seem to want to sync
16. Anybody else use one? have just got one today and having probs downloading the tones to it have installed Monkey and latest Java etc - Monkey can see the pod on the end of the usb and confirms that all the software/drivers/firmware/flash mem etc are all up to date edit-tone locker software is another matter however - the software recognises initially that the pod is at the other end of the usb then when it tries to refresh it shows an error message Your Bass PodXT has stopped responding. P{lease try resetting the power and clicking refresh in the tone locker. ive tried this - and installing uninstalling reinstalling etc making sure java totally up to date rebooted several times and still the same am running windows xp (fully updated) any ideas appreciated not tried midi connection as i only have one midi cable at present and need two apparently so just trying it with the usb for now ta muchly
