Hello all! I'm looking for buying a stand for my bass cab to put it in the "monitoring" posisition. I have a Schroeder Mini 12+ with this measurements: 17”W x 15”H x 15”D Cabinets | Schroeder Cabinets | Bass Cabinets | California Which stand would you advise for me (I was looking for the Mark bass velcro stand option too). So I'm open for everything that would work as long as it not exceeeds the price tag of 25 GBP cca... Thanks in advance for your help. Regards

Strings for semiacoustic - semihollow bass
johnpaulbass replied to johnpaulbass's topic in Accessories and Misc
thank you Marc, so ... exept for tonal nuances which are subject to personal taste, we can consider bronze and flats an equal choice ? Like they're not a "world" apart liek roundwounds and flatwounds. I do understand that tapewounds are the most "incline" to recreate a upright bass tone..- 16 replies

Also would oyu think that the "bronze" ones as someone mentioned above will be a good choice ? Personally i really don't think so.. I fear that there will be a lot of "buzzing"...- 16 replies

cool. here's also a good explanation: https://music.stackexchange.com/questions/2648/tapewound-strings-on-an-electric-bass Had A Yamaha bex4 myself some time ago and a Washburn ab40, both equipped with tapewoods. Since the "nature" of the instruments both felt right on them.. dunno if it will be the same on the Eastwood though...- 16 replies

Hello Matt.. thanks for the Tip. Well since I've got it from ebay I don't know. They're not flats for sure. They sound pretty decent though but I'm more incline to put flats on it I must say. Which are the alternative for the tapwounds from D'Addario ?- 16 replies

Hello, I just bought myself a very nice Eastwood Classic 4 bass and I'm very happy with it. Since I like to put fresh strings on my every new purchase ans since beying my Eastwood my first proper semihollow bass I would like to hear from you guys which strings do you put on your semihollow basses ? Or if you have a reference link, site or blog where I can see/hear comparations and tests. Thanks in advance for your help. Marko

I'm amazed with how much people praise Valenti's work. I've never had the chance to try one but rom what I've read, heard on youtube those are top notch instruments. The hardware and pickup/electronics are high end... but I don't know where does he get the wood (body, neck...). Reminds me a lot as Sadowksy (as stated before Nino Valenti worked for Sadowsky) bump for a great jazz.

Thanks for the answers, since I'm a Fender guy I've wrote to Mark from Limelight today to see what it can be done. I do like stock guitars so to modify or to replace a part is not an option for me. I've also received a nice propossal from MattM which has, I think, basically what I'm looking for. Will see.
I've probably got your ideal bass in my Limelight. Pino colour scheme, hand-wound pickup which sounds outstanding, and a 40mm B width nut. No 181 if you want to reference it with Mark at any point
Fantastic. Wouls you consider selling it ?
Pure guess and no idea of cost but, if the bass is perfect in every other way, can you get a luthier to reshape the neck to B profile? It must be possible in theory and you should preserve everything you like about that instrument. One of those factors would be how compatible the neck and body are and replacing the neck is always something of a gamble, even if it fits perfectly.
I'm not the kinda guy who likes to modify stuff
Colour me interested if you are moving on your Pino
Yes drake... I've seen those Limelight basses that are quite prased here... and Mark is a great guy to talk too. Sadly I didn't have the chance to try one of his basses yet...

So here's my story: After a long search (and sacrifices) I was able to purchase a great Pino Palladino Custom shop P bass. Long story short at least in my ears this is the best P around hands down, great feel sounds massive... etc. I owned some P basses (78 maple neck, 83 Squier JV, etc...) and this bass (although I'm aware that those are completely different worlds) beats them by far. Ok... I'm owning it for 2 months now and playing it daily for at least 2 hours. Sad story my hands are not so "big" (i.e. Pino, at least in the pictures, is a tall guy and has enormous hands ). The result is that I'm not "feeling" so well with the neck, it's just "too big for me" (wide). Said that I'm surely not giving up and will try it for at least some "more time". Ok.. so... are there any "makers" (Fender and such...) that makes a P bass similar to Pino's (so with 60s specs) but with slimmer neck ? Thank you very much
