1. Guys, thanks for all the help. After going through the details, I've decided to see what the GB-10 offers and give TASCAM a second shot... I was swung on the AA battery and SD card. The footpedal is another £50, so I've decided to live without (for a while, at least). If anyone is interested, I'd be more than happy to review.
  2.
The BT1 is still sold but they have brought a new player out- http://tascam.com/product/gb-10/ Never tried this one but it does both Guitar & bass and it records- Hmm will have to have one of these.
I'd seen the GB-10, but there don't seem to be many reviews around. It's only around 20 quid more than a MP-BT1... and now I'm not sure if it's worth the difference - dilemmas!!!!!!

    Schecter
Anyone play Schecter basses? I completely forgot the company existed until just now, and a guitarist I used to work with swore by his (although I can't remember the model) but I just wondered if the basses are just as good. Chance are I can't and won't be able to afford one for ages, especially along with the millions of other basses on my 'want' list, but I'm just curious about them really.
I've just sold my Schecter Diamond 004. It is a great bass, looks fantastic (ash body) worth every penny of its value and a real gem. If money and space were no issue, I'd still own it! Unfortunately, I've owned another Stiletto, which was a heap of junk, I lived to hate and would never buy another... it had a soft, crappy body, and a neck which looked green under lights (someone told me it may be poplar?!?!?). It was nasty, though it looked the business.
  5.
Thanks for the fast response - so they're ECB81, EBC82 etc - the ones without a letter (S, M, SL) at the end. http://store.daddario.com/category/145851/Chromes_Flat_Wound The bass is a Roscoe Century Standard 4
Wow, those things look stunning. Have you any pictures????
  6. Bass players? We're cool... cooler than an ice cube in a snowstorm... cooler than a windscreen in December. In all seriousness, it's amazing how many kids are looking at bass as a viable alternative to guitar nowadays. Trouble is, more bassists means more competition! Are we up to it???
  7.
For a minute there, I though you were after some groovy shoes to get funky in!
Nah, my feet start to stink in trainers! Still a clean sweep for Tascam... glad to hear they're getting stronger. Is the MB-BT1 available? Thought it was replaced by a mk. 2?
  8. I'm looking for some help in choosing a new bass trainer. My Tascam BT-CD1 was a great concept, but rather fragile, and eventually fell apart. I've lived without it for a while, but enjoyed the flexibility it gave me in practice. After putting up with Tascam foibles, I'm not necessarily keen to invest my hard earned cash that way again. Any advice on a suitable replacement / ideas / comments will be gratefully received.
  9.
If you slap flats you get a more 'organic' tone, but they have their own brightness. ALso as has been mentioned, halfrounds are a good compromise between flat and round - loadsa punch but smooth too! I use Picato in all flavours meself.. no silks either!!
+1 for Picato I use the 766 flats. Great strings (they made me a set to custom length when I asked). Price is excellent and they last well.
  10. Just wanted to add my appreciation and say thanks to all who took the trouble to put the day together. I had the time of my life!
  11. Have you tried a Traben? Superfast... maybe. Heavy... yes. Angry... definitely.
  12. Can I just chuck in a vote for the Boss ME-20B... It's got a lot of sounds, makes a great introduction to multi-effect pedals and is stronger than an ox on steroids. It can take a little working out initially, but it's nothing too complicated with a little application.
  13.
Well i love the tone from the spectors. I have tried a Spector rebop and love the sound of it, thats why i'm asking about the spector performer, i dont have any idea if the sound is near the sound of a rebop...
It's definitely a case of getting what you pay for. I have a Performer which is fun to noodle about on, but it's a light weight, budget, eastern manufactured, passive bass. It owes me nothing, but Spector do make much better products.
  14.
If you can get your hands on a Yamaha BB605 they really are fantastic and can be picked up for not a lot. They have the NE-1 pre-amp in them which is superb.
I agree, but.... the reason for letting my BB604 go was that it felt a bit to "bling" for me. Lots of very shiny gold hardware... you've got to want the look that goes with the bass.
  15. I used to have a very nice BB604 that always brought a smile to my face personally, I'd go with the passive plan. If it doesn't work you can always go back and do the upgrade later, and if it does, you've saved the wad!
  16. Isn't mould something of a pleasure? Today's fermenting grape is next-year's worst hangover...
  17. Great job... very tight. May your future be bright.
