1. I get that if I haven't played for a few days, especially if theres a gap in rehearsals. I "crab spazzed" (great phrase!) at a gig the other week and had to jettison the pick and use my ring finger and little finger to finish the song, tough when its RAWK at Motorhead speeds, but I pulled it off by wacking the overdrive on and hitting it hard. I do have that Thunderbird far too low, but its kinda essential for the visuals although it does knack my right wrist a bit. Having broken my thumb twice hasn't helped either. Ooh, me leg, price of radishes, I remember when this was all fields....
2. Good working order, few scuffs, side handle added. If you are interested, PM me and I'm sure we can work on the price if its going to a Basschatter. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=120657517443
3. British made, mid 1970s. They are from the same bunch of people who made Shergolds. Patchy quality, but if you get a good one, you'll love it to bits. Rare but not massively collectable yet...
4. I don't normally go for P-Basses, but that one is gooooorgeous!
5. Be careful with the Maplin soldering stations. I work in the returns field, and there are HUNDREDS of these coming back every month with faults. Spend the extra money and get a used Weller TCP off ebay and you will never ever need to buy another iron. It will also hold its value really well if you ever decide soldering isn't for you. Loads of tips available for all eventualities, and the HEAT RETENTION is really good on these Magnastat tips, so you won't "run out of heat" when you are doing pots or big chassis lugs etc. Something like these (not mine btw...) usually go for 25-50 quid ish. 8.
If the item has a minor fault that is quick/simple/cheap to fix, then FIX IT before putting the item up for sale. I would never buy or bid on anything where the seller says something like "knob is missing, but it's easy to replace - you can get them for £1 from Maplins", because I would always think - "if it's really that simple, why haven't YOU done it?"
2 reasons. 1) The £5 plus P+P for the part, the hour its going to take me to locate and order the spare part on the web (or the petrol to pick it up from the local guitar shop/or Maplin etc), then the time to fit it is usually worth more than the tenner I might lose off the sale if I don't. 2) I have regularly got as much, or sometimes MORE money for "project" lots than a complete instrument in good condition because everyone likes a bargain, and they think they are getting it cheap, so they bid, then when they get outbid, they feel a little pang and think "sod it, I'll go another fiver" then it starts rising. Psychology...
9. My first bash, and had a great time meeting a few people from here. Krakens Ampeg was indeed mighty, I tried 7 different basses through it and they all sounded amazing. Maybe I just like Ampegs Ready for the next one, but might not bring so many basses next time Cheers, Pete.
10. Machinehead are as old as the hills. They had a pretty good reputation in the 80s, but I haven't dealt with them for a long while.
11. Might possibly be able to make this after all and stay til maybe 2pm, can I "pay on the door" ?
12. Jims standing right next to me at the moment, he is humbled, and says you should definitely attend tonight, and give generously to the Guinness fund
13. Come see a basschatters band, drink beer and be merry! We're on at 10 (headlining) Hope to see a few of you there! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=150786931625324
14.
Play a Telebass before you do it. If you like either dub or incoherent rock thud, do it. If not, use EQ, it's easier
"Incoherent Rock Thud", that's a cracking name for an album. Anyone?
15. GEOFIO: I was actually looking at your Schecter a few days ago and thinking it might make a good backup bass for my epi gothic, but now I've read this thread, I'm not parting with good money to someone with your troll attitude. FYI, Basschat is a brilliant marketplace if you are selling good gear at the right price, and its certainly a lot easier and cheaper than ebay, and you know its going to a good home.
16. For Sale: [s]Digitech X-Series Digidelay. 4 seconds delay with looper[/s] - SOLD [s]Rocktek chorus, early 90s cheap and cheerful but sounds amazing[/s] - SOLD [s]Boss OC2[/s] - SOLD Prices include postage. PM me ASAP if you want these. Cheers!
17. Anyone else noticed the rather dodgy looking bid pattern on that black Status thats up at the moment? http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...em=110610083474 I was in the running for this, but looking at the high number of bids from a 0-feedback user who has only ever bid on auctions from this seller, I am not going to entertain it. Unless anyone on here is either the seller or the 0-feedback bidder and can actually vouch for themselves? And no, I wouldn't normally post info of something I was bidding on, but I thought this looked well suspicious, and I wouldn't want a fellow BCer to get ripped off. I hate ebay. Too much suspicion.
18. Bump. 45 posted, brand new, whats not to like? Will trade for pedals etc if it helps.
19. Well, forgive me for speculating, given the extreme lack of info or pic in your original post...
20. Serial 1003 dates it to 1946. I'm guessing you have a standard production "Gretsch Electromatic". Most Gretsch lap steels were made for them by Valco BTW. Got a photo?
21. If SeeTickets werent being such greedy C*NTS and charging £4.85 "processing fee" for a £15 ticket, I would probably have gone. Is anyone actually sellin tix for this at face value (or close to it)?
Skingraft are next playing in Bedford.. Let me find the flyer.. Think it's about sold out!!!
22. Welcome back Whens Skingraft playing again?
23. Immaculate, ex display, boxed with carry bag. Box has a rip in it from the shop assistant no knowing how to open it properly (doh!) They are to all intents and purposes, brand new. £45 posted in UK. Maplin page for these headphones Note: Before anyone says these show up as low as £30 on Yahoo shopping, all the sellers at those silly prices are permanently out of stock/never had any, and you wont find them for sale online for less than 50 quid plus postage!
24. SOLD. As per title, a fantastic little USB interface which accepts guitar, line or XLR mic sources. It has stereo outputs on phono jacks and a headphone output as well. RRP was £119 until the new version came out, which is now £130. Looking for £55 posted in UK.
