Ok. Resistor moved to the board. Turned on and...LED doesn't light up. But!!! It comes on when I touch the LED. maybe a grounding issue? This build is killing me! It was meant to be an afternoon building it for a friend and it's turning into every weekend being a new disappointment

Ignore me...just had a support request response from the guy at Fuzzdog...resistor should be on the board and not the actual led. Currently warming up my soldering iron...will report back asap!

Thanks Bob... It's wired up exactly like the link says... http://pedalparts.co.uk/docs/Rodent-v2.pdf I've attached a few pics too. It's brand new so I'd hope it isn't faulty Resistor is a 2.2k. Grounds all look good to me. I could imagine it if the pedal didn't work and the LED didn't, but everything fine except that Thanks so much for your help

Hi DIYers, I need your help again. Rat circuit is working all fine, but the LED isn't coming on when pedal engaged. LED works [tested on a multimeter], orientated the right way, resistor is soldered fine and connections at board and switch are working. Legs are touching so nothing shorting out...no idea where to go next! Any ideas? Cheer all
Have you tried it in its metal enclosure? That always makes a surprising amount of difference, especially with dirt effects. Also, are you trying it with a battery or power supply?
I haven't actually, might try that first. Using a battery. Built a few pedals before and never had issues so hoping this might sort it

Need help DIYers. I'm building a Poodle Pedal Parts Rat for my friends birthday. Soldered all the parts in today [not switch/led/dc power] but connected it up as in the instructions to check the pcb was working as it should. There is effected sound coming through, but there's major hum - louder than the actual sound. Anything obvious I should be checking tomorrow? I'm thinking it'll be something to do with grounding perhaps? Cheers all
8. I had the same problem with a valve amp moving on a cab. I used a custom cut bit of closed cell foam from e-foam.com or something like that. Gaffa taped the foam too. Problem solved.

Always liked the look of these. What do they sound like? Is that a humbucker?

11. Mighty mite neck are pretty good and can get one for about £100. The internet suggests they may need a bit of fret work etc to be ok, but I imported one from the states and it was fine. I wouldn't buy a Fender neck if I were you, most of the cost is going on the name. Had a couple of Warmoths back in the day. They may be very slightly heavier than 'normal', but th custom options and quality make them superb IMO. You can also get them with graphite rods and slimmer options which will help with weight. Check out the for sale threads here too...something will come up pretty quickly and you'll get a good deal
12.
Excuse my idiocy here but how, if at all does it make a difference to the amp as a whole?
Many would argue it doesn't really. Solid state power sections can get quite nastily distorted [in a bad way] when pushed to their limits. Valve amps get nicely distorted and sound more harmonically richer/more full and alive/just better basically [imo] when pushed hard. I've had many versions of solid states and a fair few valve amps and much prefer valves. Best bet it go try and get to a decently stocked shop and try everything out. Good luck in your search!
13. Just to chip in, the SVT 4 isn't all valve. Has a valve in the preamp I believe, but not in the power section. Nice amp though!
14. Hi Zac, Just after a straight sale, but thanks for the offer. Cheers
15. Hi all, Selling on a few bits I'm not using right now... Only recently picked up the TFR to get my muff fix, but the band I'm in has no need for distortion so letting it go. Comes with original box and papers etc, it's in excellent condition. Sounds superb, gets nice and gritty in a way that other muff clones don't. Velcro on the back. Yours for £100 posted SOLD which is what I paid on this forum a few weeks back. Diago Micropower9 - the smaller brother of the Powerstation. Great condition, some velcro residue on the back but obviously doesn't affect it in any way. Comes with mains plug. Yours for £18 posted. Cheers all! 16. Couch are great. There's one for sale on here actually I think. I've had a couple of straps from them, great quality, maybe a little pricey than usual but you get what you pay for. I'm 6'4" and the straps can go really long which is a bonus for us lanky folk Buy with confidence
17. Cheers all. First gig is next month so I'll give it a good run through then
18. Cheers all. 1970 - it's a thing of beauty! I had an Orange AD200 a few years back and the Matamp s**ts all over it. I would imagine an OR120 sounds glorious too!
19. I was actually surprised by how loud it was with the amp. Amp was only on about 9 oclock and was shakign walls, maybe that's Matamps though 600 watts, 4 ohms, sealed. Speakers are Clestion BN12-300S.
20. Picked up a Zilla 2x12 cab this week for bass duties. Used to have a Matamp in a similar spec but moved it on a few years back. As practices and gigging seem to be picking up again lately, I thought it a good investment to find something fairly lightweight that I could move myself, small enough to be manageable on my own, but still have enough presence to kick it out, was pretty cheap, and most importantly sounded great. Enter Zilla cabs. They're perhaps more well known for their 2x12 guitar cab variants, and there isn't much at all on the website about bass cabs. They seem open to building pretty much anything and have a great selection of tolex and cloths to choose from. I began emailing Paul at Zilla about 12 months ago to discuss what I needed, but no funds and no band put things on hold for a while. I then got back in touch a few weeks back and we hammered out specs of what I wanted. Cab was built in a very reasonable time, about a week, which was great. I had it fitted with neo Celestions and just a classic black tolex and salt/pepper style grill cloth. Tough to say what the weight is - it definitely feels lighter than my old Matamp cab which I believe was 30kg - it's maybe in the region of 25kg, which is an easy enough carry for even a weakling like me. Slides in the back seat of the car and load in and out is super easy. Ideal! Amp came in at £495 delivered which I thought was excellent. There was a slight surcharge for the neo's which is to be expected. Sound wise, I'm running a 70's Matamp GT120 which is 120 watts all valve. Took both out at practice for the first time this week and got to run the amp at un-neighbourly volumes. Cab handled it just fine and the trousers were flapping and filled the room with valvey gritty bass tonez If you're in the market for a new cab, it'd be worth your while seeing what Zilla can do for you. Really open to options, great prices, quick turnaround and much better than most off-the-shelf cabs. Pics or it didn't happen...
