1. Another item to fund the costly restoration of my old double bass. This is a high end German compact PA system. Consists of a powered sub which also contains amps and DSP to power the two passive tops and the passive sub. It can also power another pair of tops if needed (and if you could afford them!) I bought this last year when the band was down to two of us plus a full range backing track (drums, guitars, brass and backing vox) and the sound quality is simply stunning. It is also very powerful for its size and weight (drivers are neo). All the cabs are high quality birch ply and everything is built like a tank. I like "boys toys" so will be happy if my other items sell first and I can keep this even if it's been unused since March as I'm off doing upright nonsense instead these days. Include in the sale: 1 x powered sub 1 x passive sub 2 x passive tops All necessary cables 2 x K&M tripod stands and 1 sub mounted pole Custom Fohhn covers for subs and tops The passive sub was bought new last year (just under £1000!) the rest of the system is a few years old. Demo possible and collection from Manchester Retail price for this full system is almost £5k Links to info and reviews below: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar06/articles/live_fohhn.htm http://www.fohhn.com/index.php?id=56&L=1&tx_fohhnproducts_pi1%5Bfohhnproducts%5D=87&cHash=e49641286add70a9130fee8cdc7040ed Sale only for this: £2750 Apologies for the upside down pics
2. This was supposed to be the fabled "one and only bass forever" and to be fair, it has done a very good job as such. I'm a big fan of these wonderful 80's Yamahas (also have a BB1100s) but am now hankering after a Stingray sound and rueing the day I sold my Sterling plus I need cash to restore my old double bass. This had one owner before me who gigged it for 10 years then it spent a few years idle before he could bring himself to part with it. It's a neck-through design with tiger stripe ebony fingerboard. Fantastic clear sound, huge output and great for recording. Slim neck with low action and great playability. A few marks, scuffing where it has been played with a pick and a scratch on front near the pickups (see photo) Non-original hard case included £600 Collected from Manchester or can possibly meet up across the NW and further afield depending on my travel plans. Trades: All 4 string....fretted or fretless Stingray Sterling Maybe an old interesting P-bass Try me
3.
I've got a Sterling (proper, not sub or 'by') and I played it back to back with a Stingray (and a lot of other basses at Manchester Bass Lounge). Necks seemed very similar i.e. excellent. Body is smaller and lighter than the Stingray but it's not a light bass by any stretch. It's got seriously hyped actives. Mine's the 4H - single noise cancelling Humbucker with a 3-way switch for various modes. Pretty flexible tone between the pickup selector and the 3-way tone. I generally play with them in middle position, just rolling back treble if the room is very bright. The bass-boost is huge. I absolutely love it and the red body with black scratch looks great. I went into MBL looking to pick up a Jazz or similar and came out with this - one of the last basses I picked up in the 3 hours I was there and it was love at first riff. Original photos...
Thats my old bass! I traded it with Drew for a Thumb a while back, the Thumb is long gone and i was planning to go and rescue the precious red Sterling at some point until i saw it was gone (i live round the corner from Drew and his "lounge") Nice to know its not gone far....
4. Thanks Daf, I have them at the moment and am ready to order a set so can send these on to whoever wants them next. Very happy with them
5. Traded my Compact for his S12T....couldn't have been smoother. Great guy to deal with. Cheers Muzz!
6. Hi Daf, Can I go on the list for these? Not sure anyone else is waiting and I can collect from Steve at my next lesson if that's the case. Cheers, George

8. Bit of eye candy to go with the title track from our 2nd album.....these little films cost peanuts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0Cw2vR9Tzg
9. Just polished off our 2nd studio album. Any criticism gratefully accepted....harsh as you like (especially if you've listened to it first) www.pistonfunkmachine.bandcamp.com www.soundcloud.com/pistonfunkmachine www.pistonfunkmachine.com All my ponderous basslines were played on a 1980's Yamaha BB3000 into a Genz Benz STL 900/Barefaced Compact Cheers!

12. Thanks for the PM's, not really interested in trades (unless its a petrol lawnmower....mines just died) Now also listed on ebay.
13. Cheers Bobby, They are great basses, i almost bought one two years ago and it might have saved me a lot of money if i had considering some of the things ive lusted after and bought since! Now looking forward to being a one bass household again.
14. Picked this up on here after Xmas and liked it so much i snapped up a BB3000A recently. After much swapping i have decided to keep the 3000 and let this one go. Partly because i like the simplicity of passive basses and its a neck thru as well. This is a 1992 model, made in Taiwan (built to last!) Active or passive Wineburst (i think thats the name of the colour.....i call it purple) When i bought it i had the following work carried out by Steve Curtis in Manchester: New nut Electronics re-soldered where appropriate New jack socket Replacement knob (this is identical but slightly different shade of black) Full set up.....LOW action New set of DR Neon strings in hot pink....apologies but i couldnt resist as they go so well with purple. It sounds great and the necks on these are famous for their playability. Usual dinks and scratches for a bass this age but nothing unpleasant. Price is low for a quick sale but is firm at £200 Collection from Manchester (soft case included in the sale) or could meet up in NW.
15. Now listed on Ebay....you have one week if you are interested!
16. Cash your way if appropriate (just in case that isn't clear above)
17. Hi, Its trade only and yes i would consider shipping in that case.
18. I went straight to this bass from an ACG Finn4 and Warwick Thumb before that and it outlasted both! It was the tone that did it....the pick ups are great. This one has had the following upgrades: Tusq nut GOTOH high mass bridge Tone control added A sticker of a very attractive female to obscure the silly red bat decal (she is lovely) I used it on all the tracks on this album, recorded over Xmas. www.pistonfunkmachine.bandcamp.com Only moving it on as have just got hold of another vintage Yamaha and 3 basses is way too many in my book (and my wife would agree) Condition is top notch, no marks that i can see other than a teeny bit of buckle rash on the back. Collection from Manchester or can deliver locally. Price: £150
19. Looking to trade my Compact (bought new from Alex last July) Its an amazing cab and i am very happy with it but would like a 4ohm cab to extract all the goodness from my amp and am not keen on 2 cab options at the moment. Ridiculously light and can take everything my GB STL 900 will throw at it and still wants more. The amp us running out of steam at very high volumes and the clipping light will come on.....hence my desire for a 4ohm cab. Based in Manchester
