  1. Please post your new bass once you get it
  2. Hard pass. Unless the backing track is doing something that requires doubling, I would ask to remove the bass track or I'm not doing it
  3. It's at the top of your budget and doesn't have humbuckers, but I think it would serve your purposes well: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/508040-xotic-xj-1t-5-sonic-blue-price-drop-£2000/
  4. I am also keen to get an answer on this one. I'm always concerned about the original power supply being the point of failure
  5. I'm glad you got it, the rapid price descent on it got my wallet worried!
  6. Exactly. Stuff designed for lowest-common-denominator listening sells well because that's what it's designed for. Excellent independent music exists and is more varied than ever, and finding it hard never been easier.
  7. With mine, I have one simple "basic good sound" patch that I always start with. This is what I use when I'm practicing or just using it as an interface for recording. This stops me spending hours tweaking when I should be working on something else. The tweaking for me comes when I have a function/wedding set list to get together. For instance, we were asked for Pink Pony Club on a set, and I was able to get pretty close to the original bass synth sound with some funky routing. That just sits on a preset now for whenever I need it, without having to worry about adding/removing pedals or doing some sort of tap dance to get everything in place
  8. If people keep calling you a Nazi, maybe it's time for some introspection...
  9. People seem to forget that USA Spector are a proper boutique, much like F bass, Ken Smith, or Fodera. They've just managed to capitalize on their success much better
  10. Sorry, my dry humour once again appears to have been too dry
  11. That's just a feature of all 5 string MusicMans (MusicMen?). A G string you have to hold on to for dear life to stop it slipping off the frets!
  12. I'm just trying to read it without having a stroke
  13. Every now and again I miss my old Bongo, but I use the Spector so much more than I ever used the Bongo!
  14. $699 will likely be something mad like £1,200
  15. Seeing as Basswood is traditionally a cheap wood, it should be a no brainer?
  16. I see he's got something in the works with Giacomo Turra. Not a fan of his mimed videos, but will be nice if it gets Jones some exposure
  17. I mean, I would assume the person who made the video decided that. YouTube isn't a centralised service, it's user made content
  18. Man those Alphers look so cool, I fully expect some recordings once you've got it!
  19. I get that feeling. Unfortunately there is somewhat of an expectation that you can use as DAW (digital audio workstation, i.e. recording software) already, when in reality that's a whole extra skillset. It's not hard once you understand it, but it can be a bit like trying to read "How to Learn Greek: Greek edition". As others mentioned, download a copy of Reaper and try and follow a tutorial from there
  20. I think (think) the name comes from a portmanteau of "Simulator" and "Amplifier", rather than the word "simplify"
  21. I suspect you're likely right. There was an email chain posted on TB where Ken pretty much stated he had nothing to do with Brubaker right in the middle of the contract. I doubt that went down with Kevin Brubaker, and is probably just a glimpse into their relationship
  22. I'm just relying on the fact the defaults on the Atlas are all very good and useable
  23. I would feel pretty bad learning my Ken Smith is built by someone else, but at the same price. Not that Brubaker couldn't make it just as well as KS, but that's why I would be paying the premium. Kinda like if Warwick built Sadowskys just cost the same as the ones built by Roger
  24. I was about to say that Ken Smith and his workshop don't even make the basses anymore (it was subcontracted to Brubaker guitars), but apparently they've taken back production. Still it's a crazy price right?
