5. Hi Richard, Have a bump on me, great superb instruments these. I still have the 59 burst No.70 I believe you brought into the country. All the best with the sale.
6. Having a bit of a clearout of unused stuff to here is my Trace Elliot Dirt Box and DOD FX10 BiFET preamp up for grabs. The Dirt Box is UK made 2 stage distortion with level and gain controls and bass, middle and treble tone stack. Although mainly intended for guitar the manual states it can also be used with bass, keyboards, vocals, zither etc and also warns that it caution should be advised if you have, a weak stomach, are in labour or iron creases in your jeans. Runs of 18 volts or 2 batteries I think these things are quite rare but it's a quality bit of kit so how about £55.00 posted The DOD preamp is a USA made item with single tone, and level knobs that can give 17 dB of boost. I found it particularly usefu for giving my ovation acoustic a bit of boost during solo's etc. This has one small scratch on the side of the casing. Runs on the usual 9 volts or 1 battery. I was thinking £40.00 posted for this one Overall both are in excellent condition and come with orginal boxes. Any questions just ask.
7. For sale my Tanglewood TW1200N 12 string Dreadnaught acoustic guitar. I bought it last year as a cheap guitar for taking camping and to BBQ's etc, (for playing not cooking) but got bitten by the 12 string bug and ended up with some thing quite a bit different. Its in excellent condition and still has the plastic on the scratch plate. The satin finish seems pretty tough so its unmarked. The strings are well past their best so I will include a new set of Martin strings which I could put on for you if preferred. I would like £70 for it and would prefer if it was collected from Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire or Sandy Bedfordhsire but would be willing to post for £15. It does not have case or bag but I am sure I can find a box to pack it securely. The stand in the above photos would not be included. With spring being in the air it might be of some interest to some one. Any questions just ask.
8. I got one and I think they are pretty cool, and look good in the lounge, but I do think it works better on my acoustic guitars and 6 stringers rather a bass. Because of the shape on my jazz bass's body it doesn't sit quite right and think the neck gripping hercules type stands do a better job. I much perfer it for my acoustic for which it is hard to beat and have noticed Taylor now sell these but the rotorsound website is cheaper
9. Received these the other day so thanks very much. They do feel very good.
10. Hi if its still available I wiil take it of your hands will PM
11. Hi, Unfortunately having been bitten by the bass bug and made a rather serious investment in another bass so my starter instrument is up for sale. It’s a Squire Vintage Modified Jazz but I have upgraded the bridge to a BABICZ FCH 4 which is absolutely astonishing and really makes the bass feel alive. These bridges have been described as a Badass beater but take a look at what others think too http://www.fullcontacthardware.com/customer-reviews.htm The bass itself is mint and although use for some rehearsals has never been gigged. It is set up with a nice low action which is my preference being an erstwhile guitar player. It also comes with Gator semi-rigid case which is also like new and still has the tags intact, and I will include the stock bridge in the sale. I am looking for £260.00 including shipping within the UK mainland, which hopefully you think is reasonable considering Babicz bridges retail for around £100 mark and the inclusion of a decent case. I have attached some pictures below but any questions just ask. Cheers for looking G.
12. I would vote for Hiscox too, I looked various option for my Jazz but after see a friends Hiscox case I was convinced, its much better than a SKB case I have for an Ovation. If you have any doubts take a look from at the Hiscox website http://www.hiscoxcases.com/ Got it from Sounds Alive, I don't think you will do better for the money. Hope this helps.
13. Being an old git too I remeber reading a guitar mag article back in the day where Dee Dee said his basses were stock apart from being full of silicon, even the journalist at the time did not seem to know what he meant and thought he may have been talking about active electronics but it makes sense now.
14. Hopefully I will get along Sunday afternoon if I can pay on the day. I will bring my VMJ to which I have just fitted a BABICZ bridge which might be of some interest, and I would appreciate some feed back on what you guys think of it.
15. Hi I am really interested in this I guess this is the 2 x 10 plus a tweeter will forward a PM
16. Well I took a punt on one and have just received it from the Bass Centre (£69). I did not like the thought of faffing about filing grooves in the Badass and the Babicz seemed to be a more advanced design with its novel cam feature. I intend to fit this to my Squire 70's VMJ but cannot comment on any difference to the sound yet as I am banned from my workshop (the kitchen) over the holidays especially after the managing to smash the kitchen light with my bass (but that's another story). Any way if the theory holds true it should make a difference. I guess I will try it with my existing strings first to get a valid comparison before restringing Although I cannot comment on the tone yet one thing I can say is that the design appears to be well thought out and very sound with an additional screw on each cam to lock it in place once the action is set and another screw for each saddle to clamp the saddle to the base plate once the intonation is adjusted, so it should be rock solid in use. Overall it seems very impressive with super smooth chrome plated finish but I was surprised to find out it was made in Taiwan not the good ole US of A, but if it was I guess it might have been a bit more pricey. I will update this post with some further feed back once fitted. Happy New Year.
