Yes, Pierre is a good guy. He has good connections with Danny Stewart of Bass Direct (Japan) and they work a great double act in getting high-end Japanese instruments to Europe. I bought one of my Atelier Z's that way. No problems.

Pierre also has lots of other stuff available..........as well as a pet ferret in his showroon!😀

lol - are you the guy who bought atelier Z JHJ custom order ?? can't remember

    Ferrets are long gone lol

Its actually going to be 32" scale. Changed that. Yes, hipshot ultra lights.

All my other basses are rosewood and sunburst so my wife should be non the wiser!

had a customer like that , only ordered ash maple sunburst ever

as far as I know he's still happily married

Wow, just found the joys of the Public Peace site and it's custom configurator tab. I think this will be next bass.

    It ticks all the boxes,

    -32" scale

    -P bass

    -3 colour NITRO sunburst.

    -Rosewood fretboard.

dangerous place to spend time on

I put so many orders through that I never planed lol

On the one hand: Yeah, of course. Everyone else in this thread ordered their Frogs and Elwoods from atop their radium-powered velocipedes while holding back Wat Tyler and his pangolins. I get it.

On the other hand: TK in Vegas' Jake - as seen on this very page! - was ordered in September, and he's currently spanking the derrière off it[*] as we speak.

Frankly, I'd quite like my sofa shot just to stop daydreaming about the bloody thing 😛

EDIT: Anyway, point is... Like Pierre says, assume 20 weeks. That way, you'll be delighted if/when it probably turns up earlier :)

[*] I imagine. It's hard to tell, given Vegas' famously tight reins on local happenstance.

dunno , generally I'd advise to assume 3/5 month and hope for the best

in case goal is not met , please be patient , I know that all supply chains have been savaged , sometimes badly (not speaking about Adrian , generally brands I work with)

just remember that every body is doing their best

I saw this on their Facebook today and am tempted to make an enquiry. I don't need it, it probably wouldn't work so well with my band, but it's so tempting. What sort of lead times are people getting from order to UK delivery?

    FB_IMG_1639136906777.jpg

generally speaking any order is about 4/5 month.

I haven’t read the whole of this thread, but had a quick look, and searched through Bass Direct’s stock and sold list. I didn’t come across a 30” or 32” 5 string, specifically a Jake or Elwood.
    Anyone experienced one?

Usual questions regarding a low b string etc

hey , B on a 32 actually works fine to me , should you hope to play metal music and down tune it , answer is probably not

but standard tuning ... I dare anybody listening to your or your band to be able to say it's a 32 inch bass , it's fine....

Apologies if this has already been asked - skim read but couldn’t see an answer.

on the Public Peace shop the prices include 19% tax; therefore UK landed price will be remarkably similar I presume. What about customs duty etc - how much have people paid on top of that price since B-xit?

I shipped 3/4 times to UK since that , seems to be UK VAT + a sort of processing fee.

If you want to deal direct with Adrian , you'll have to pay that

if you want a UK dealer , they'll pay all import duties and retroactively charge it to you but at least you'll get a price "delivered to your door"

same stuff overall generally speaking , doesn't change much

@pierregansemanis there a benefit to ordering through a dealer as opposed to ordering direct from Adrian? Price, etc?

depends how you see it I guess

price wise : through me no , as I apply strictly his prices , how other dealers do I don't know , I personally disagree with dealers doing price wars (general statement, not speaking about public peace dealers) to get orders .... if every body applied list , life would be beautiful

I've seen some ppl overpricing from direct price too , so all in all who knows and who's to say

probably easier to have a fluent person in English , I guess that could be a benefit ?

    dunno

I was fairly lucky that I received my couch pic for my Jake 30" exactly at the 8 week mark a week ago. It is currently on its way to me here in Las Vegas. My last build for my Elwood was right at 10 weeks.

this is a very cool build .... well done

Heh! Tk, it was seeing your gorgeous and ultra-quick couch shot on Talkbass that ramped up my unease :D

I can only assume that there's something in my build that is currently hard to get hold of. I know gold hardware isn't as popular as it once was, so maybe that's it. 🤷‍♂️

It doesn't help that it's now getting close to the manic and delay-likely Christmas postage period.

Oh well, just gotta be patient, I guess! Thanks, folks :)

Hey man , as a dealer for Adrian and dealing worldwide for custom orders on and off. I can tell you that supply chains have been savaged by COVID. Just about most and any company have had issues of some sort with production.

    patience will be the key.

Absolutely ridiculous! You could ship something from EU to Australia back and forth probably 5 times in that time period...

Although I was reading that they had finally sorted the "backlog" at the border, but it's still pretty ridiculous...

in the mean time I have shipped to Australia in 4 days

many times to USA in 48 hours and even reached Hawaii in 72 hours

be aware that if you are to order from Public peace - it's well out of their hands

I did hear from somebody at UPS that there's generally a gigantic backlog from UK packages (going in and out of the country)

It has been 12 days since I ordered this thing. 12 weeks seems like it’s gonna be a really long time! And I’m assuming the border situation will add a few more days/weeks on as some others have experienced. Nevertheless I am excited!

just took 5 and 7 weeks to deliver in UK. UPS.

I sent him photos, and he replied that “it’s possible to do but is this good? There’s no shine to them”.

So he understood the question but doesn’t understand the appeal for a satin/matte finished metallic colour. Too bad, coz I do.
Sadowsky did the Satin series a few years ago, and a whole lot was metallic finishes. Looked stunning. Much better than opaque finishes in satin/matte.

Question is: does he have to like it or understand it to build it?

He's definitely a man of few words but I learnt to know that it's not meant in any sort of rude way

rarely answers more than "yes" "no" "ok" but has always sorted me out for anything I needed

as to wether he has to like something in order to build it - I would say that after dedicating 16 years of his life for his company he's pretty free to do what he wants. Metallic colours with a Satin finish are 100% possible so while I , myself , don't care that much for it I do get his point that to some (maybe him?!) a Metallic colour without a gloss could look dull.

however if you insist - maybe he will build it?? I don't know :)

I would take issue with the word 'become'

    yeah quite surreal really

sent basses 11th of Jan and 13th of Jan I think

still not delivered - being processed at border

even Mexico and Chile are faster

  16. 12 hours ago, Ian McFly said:

Yeah, by law you can't pay VAT twice so that's why he removes the German VAT, and you'd pay the British VAT + custom fees.

No idea, didn't ask. It used to be free... Maybe he's got additional paperwork to do indeed and decided that any shipping outside EU would be charged.

shipping companies are charging extra for export out of EU

obviously anything out of of Europe has no EU VAT

I sent a Bass to UK customer  early January - UPS is currently having a backlog of around 3 weeks to process shipments entering UK.

    still not delivered
