Pierre - you may know this ... what pickups does Paul Turner’s white Stenback have in it?
Also - you may remember a Talk Bass Sei bass thread from years back. I was having a through neck Jazz built (cocobollo top, Nordstrand pickups). I think you may have been waiting on one about the same time.
I have had a few Sei built along the way so that sounds like something I could do. lol

I very much doubt they the original Moon pickups. I could be totally wrong. 😆I thought they used Barts in the 80s Moon Jazz basses. Why would they route them like that unless the casings are missing.Lovely bass though.
they're original. I've sold many Moon's like that over the years through my store.
that bass is very very early 80's.

I’ll see if I can get a weight.
to be honest didn’t know the pickups weren’t original. I’ve never seen pickups like them before. They sound superb
those are standard 80's Moon Pickups. They're original.

Interesting.... mine has the same controls bar the master tone.
Mine is front vol, rear vol/push-pull active passive, mid, bass/treble stacked pot.
Yes, I love the abalone inlays too!
master tone and extra mini switch are custom options.

Have you sold from US to EU before? How does the customs and taxes work on used basses?
indeed. About 25% tax on any commercial transaction..

Beautiful both alder or is the fretless that “sen ash” you see used?
both alder as far as I know.
Fretless is a bit of an enigma as it doesn't exist on catalog but it's original.
Factory Request.... custom order , who knows
Original board , original dots...- 1

Oh son. You're gonna regret this. Only ever found ... 3 CAR Fender.
I saw it on Martin's site and wondered if it was yours.

Before I moved to Newtone strings I used DRs most of the time, I always got mine from these guys >>

Don't think I ever paid much more than £30 including shipping from the US for a 6 string set. Never got stung for any import tax either, unlike when I bought some custom La Bellas, but all that might be down to the package value maybe?
Still, even with tax they're still cheaper than buying in the UK. Madness...

Yes , that's cause there's a Local Distributor who keeps prices high.
I've heard of shops / colleagues who I won't name buying from USA and bypassing them as their prices are ridiculously high in UK.

I might have to look into those on my PJV. I normally use DR Sunbeams, but at about £55 a go they can get a bit expensive after a while.
That's because there's a DR distributor keeping price high in UK. Probably cheaper to buy Abroad.

Just bought some 5 string Maruszczyk Nickels from Bass Direct. Nicely priced at £25. Shame Maruszczyk don’t seem to sell their pickups separately.
i. don't know for a fact, should just email adrian. he'll tell you.

Ah, yes, sounds like you may be correct here re: Häussel pups! I didn’t see any logo or branding on them so assumed they were Maruszczyks.
Might have to get me some Maruszczyk strings now. Thanks for the heads up.
as far as I remember they're made in Italy to Adrian's request / Specs. To be confirmed though. Could be wronng.

Just to add that in the past, when using the Maruszczyk configurator online, I’ve always spec’d my fantasy builds with “upgraded” hardware and pups at extra cost. My experience today has convinced me there’s zero need to do so. If the bass already feels and sounds that great with the in house parts then why bother spending more money??
I should also say that the strings (presumably Maruszczyk’s own brand) and setup were sublime too. It was genuinely effortless to play. It’s been said before but setup makes such a difference when picking up a bass in store and can easily make or break a sale. I’ve oft walked into a music shop ready to spend money and been turned off buying great basses “on paper” because the strings and setup are poor.
yes , i often get customers asking me if they should upgrade hardware
the "you can , i will make more money but i don't think it's needed...." usually gets them confused.
the standard one absolutely does the job to me.

Yes. Very different. And 1900 pounds cheaper.
I think it was not on purpose, but now the fact is I get no news.
And I don t want anymore the bass to be sent by a company that throw it in my garden when I am not at home.
oh right , sorry to hear that. That's obviously a whole other debate.
How can a seller send the wrong bass i'm not sure.
Are you talking about a private entity or a shop?

Bad experience with GLS. They threw the bass over the garden gate when I was not there. I only found her at night on my way home. And bad experience also with this used purchase on basschat. The seller sent me a bad bass. And does not answer to my proposals to return the bass and refund.
while it's not gracious he has no obligation to do so. As it's likely a private sale.
Unless it was pre agreed before sale to have a return window. Then it's very wrong.
