Yes, mine was about 8 weeks. 16-20.. really would have a problem waiting that long!
well its still not bad in the custom world ! however demand is raising ... its been crazy in last 12/18 month.

I have thought about it, but then justifying €1750 isn't that easy either, and don't they have a crazy waiting time now? Not sure if I am psychologically capable of waiting longer than 12 weeks!
lead time is about16 20 weeks now. + -
used to be 8 .... not so long ago

I’ve spent a few days mulling over my dream build but the configurator doesn’t let me create exactly what I’m after. Basically it will kind of look like this:
probably with a single P pickup, passive, a bit like the Mark Hoppus sig
In shell pink (not roadworn) with tort guard
But with a transparent finish over a textured ash body like the “white rabbit” basses:
heyyy its my pic ! !
just send email to adrian, the configurator is really time consuming to setup so they cannot do every single possible option in the world.
they do still do old fashion / style orders where you write emails and all

Awesome testament to his work ethic and success, nice!
I have about 5 or 6 Elwoods specced oh my phone, just trying to decide which way to go with it now. A classic (eg white/tort) or a bit different (that would be telling!). Once I’ve played some at the London Bass Show next week I’ll be closer to a decision
for full disclosure .. i have 3 of my own lol .... that's how much i believe in the product lol

That's lovely. Looks like a great spec level too. I'm at 15 and a half weeks now and not heard a peep so hoping it won't be too much longer. My last one only took 7 weeks so clearly their business is growing nicely.
Hi ,
i started working with Adrian about 2 years ago and the lead time for a custom bass was around 8/10 weeks (roughly). Its now up to 16/20 I guess (if you keep in mind those are made to order only , so delays can happen i suppose. That's just the way it goes....). And prices have gone up to kinda control demand (even if Adrian is not about money, he told me he would never build a 5k JB). Factory has recently expanded to be able to use all machines at all times (in previous place while X was using machin Z, Y couldn't use machine B) and keep up with orders.
1st time i went to Public peace (about 2 years ago too i suppose) it was literally FILLED UP with basses. My DREAM place to be ....probably about 500... not sure.
Well its now getting emptier and emptier. Every time we go there's less ... (im about 90 minutes away i guess) ...
starting from 4 instruments in 2005.... proof with patience ... anything can be done.
4 instruments , 3 luthiers , a Factory about to go under...
13/15 years later there's around 450 custom bass per year (600 total , around that) and about 14 luthiers full time...
Amazing success story and i got so much respect for the boss for that....

wouldn't surprised me that much coming from them ... order one thing and get another

The length between the nut and the string retainer is 32 inch, which would make the scale length slightly less. Sound about right?

Indeed... it got me very confused on my first one, someone less cautious than me might have created some damage!
yes , i'd have to agree. I've heard of troubles happening in the past on orders

Ah - that'll be why, then. I guess they must be confident that enough winds on the tree will do the job..?
I'm not gonna answer for them but i've seen drastic differences in "buzzing" (usually on open strings) with more winding. I'd personally advise the full lengh of the peg , or about 3 turns + .... and then wonder about the rest (string tree or whatever, even if that's too a very small fix either way)

Tried the string, slight improvement, filed the nut a bit, took a bit longer than 76 seconds, but all is good now as long as the string comes out from the base of the tuner.
I think it is probably lacking one of those string tree things to hold it down, I suppose that is a problem with a non angled fender style neck.
Maruszczyk standard heads are slightly angled so you specifically do not need one of those but you must have enough winding and sometimes some minutes of nut filing are needed.

I have a file, and more than 76 seconds, so I will give that a try.
There actually isn't much winding around that tuning peg - is that a problem?
"isn't much" is hard to say but can be yes indeed ..... so try changing strings and put enough (more?) winding around the peg before going for nut filing

I have a rattle on mine at the moment, which I think is related to the lack of tension across the A string (as I can just push it out of the slot easily, which I can't do with any other bass), and it goes away when fretted (anywhere).
Action everywhere is fine though (on an elwood 3+2 24fret neck)
all you need is a round file and 76 seconds. Take off the string and carefully make the nut "deeper" on the A string. Step by step ... until it goes away.
I have had that 3 times on customers basses. 1st one went to a local luthier and got told it needed a refret / levelling for 300 euros. Adrian sorted it in 39 seconds at his HQ.
do make sure you have enough winding around the tuning peg.

Thanks both. Appreciated. I always thought you tightened truss rods clockwise but I guess not.
I wonder if I was just unlucky ( as well as being a numpty) with the neck. They are quite a soft wood so must be prone to more movement? Has anyone else had problems with low action consistent across the fretboard with Elwoods?
Such a shame because as everyone says, the sound, feel, look and quality for the price is great.
I have emailed Adrian. Let’s see if he has the Christmas spirit.
hard to say. 1st time i hear about such problems as a dealer and a customer however if bass was bought used i suppose its hard to know what happened to it before you owned it.

So here is a tragic story. Acquired a lovely Elwood from this site about a year ago. Action has never been right. Mid to upper positions appreciably higher than first position. I hate that. Neck isn’t straight. Truss rod tightens anti clockwise and was already maxed out when I bought it. Bridge saddles can’t go any lower.
So being the idiot that I am, I took the neck off yesterday, loosened the truss rod then re tightened and, bang, the nut came off with an inch of rod with it. ?
I will contact Adrian tomorrow, I guess my options are limited to ordering a replacement neck unless miraculously someone can fit a new nut as the break is so close to the nut..unless it’s a welded unit.
if anyone has any experience of a situation like this, knows a great fixer in the London area, knows what the nut size is, or has bought a replacement neck from Adrian, I would be eternally grateful for any advice you can provide.
These basses have a lovely sound and nice feel so I do want to sort unless economically stupid.
Thanks, David
Martin Petersen at the Gallery is still one of the very best I have met. If somebody can fix it in the UK its definitely him.
If you wanna order a new neck be aware they'll need the Body anyways.

The only ones who haggle are the Americans. They're the only ones making offers below dealer price on a very regular basis.
Last one offered me 1240 USD on a 2000 USD Elwood I have in stock. And then gets sort of offended when i turn him and starts PM's me on Reverb swearing he's gonna give it a good home....
Actually not even "haggling" in my books , just plain rude and offensive
