Totally agree!
The trade off for the chinese models seemed good value when they were introduced at £1k or so, but now that they're getting to £2.5k (the price of an AB1 the last time I bought one in the not so distant past), I don't know anymore. There are a LOT of basses out there you can get with that kind of money.
absolutely agree - you can get so so so so many things for such prices.
now you cannot much if at all with their custom shop for less than 3,5 3,8k (I'm speaking in euro) but hey .... they have 2 and a half year waiting list officially (so probably closer to 3 year) so what can I say 🙂

Not a bad shout really, they Chinese basses do seem to be going up in price more than the Canadian, relatively speaking?
I'm not sure to be honest - I just suppose demand is far higher on import
I do think that Canadian are 10 galaxy further up from import - so if one is able to afford them I'd highly recommend them
absolutely world class

I was lucky and got my hands on one during the dingwall preorder so I’m all set 🤘Do you know how many of the 82 went to dealers then? I’m just very curious as to how many were actually available for the first preorder
what I can tell you is that 30 went to Europe
10 to Bass direct apparently
I know Dingwall sold a few direct - sold out in minutes .......
rest for North America I guess

Starting to see some listings on Reverb now, there’s currently 1 available
each European dealer got two ....
so go for it if you feel like it
once gone ... they're gone

That's interesting, definitely against everything I've read about it, that this colour is unique to this run?
as far as I understand that limited Run of 82 is sold out and has no plan for another one. Comes with a D tuner , Inlay on board , custom bag.
however a "production model" is planed for late 2023 too.
again as far as I understand : No D Tuner , standard bag , no inlay and will come in white , sea foam and black but for the rest will be identical ....
it's still very beginning so a change or error on my part is possible - never seen one in the flesh
I can tell you too they'll be a 5 string but I have no definite information on that
-
Probably sold out worldwide by now.
I hear of "standard production models" coming for 4th quarter of 2023
virtually identical without the fancy bag , inlay on board , D tuner
(disclosure - I'm a dealer)

Its probably cheaper to change it than to repair it. How old is the bass, and as you are not the first owner im not suprised they will charge you. I reckon the previous owner could have broke it and moved it on
I wouldn't know for sure , much simpler than a proper repair that's for sure.

Actually, they didn't even bother to ask if I was the first owner or if it was under warranty.
They simply stated that they were too busy to do repairs but would fit a new neck.
It is surprising that a bolt on neck has to be individually fitted by them and is not interchangeable
Such a shame as it is a beautiful instrument.
10 hours ago, wateroftyne said:FWIW this isn't a new policy from them. I enquired about buying a new neck for one of mine (for cosmetic reasons) and he wouldn't entertain the idea unless I sent the whole thing back to him.
as far as I understand to have a perfect fit you need the body at the factory.

indeed , warranties are close to never transferred to next owner. No brand will cover an instrument bought on used market.

Both mine were/are fine as was the off the peg Jake I had for a while.
as a dealer the amount of "issues" I had were excessively small and were all sorted in seconds. Probably less than 3 or 4.
and sold 100's of them around the world

Just had a look at the site again and noticed the Jake TB, looks very interesting. Does anyone have one? I can't seem to get the configurator to work for this model type, which to be fair is probably a blessing in disguise as I'd be pretty tempted to order one.
I've heard it a few times
sold a bunch along the years
they're basically a J with a fat donkey pair of bollox

I’ve never bought from his shop, I briefly studied music with Pierre at ICMP and bought two instruments from him privately. He’s got some great instruments in stock.
long time , who's that ?
