My Ibanez has had the 3 band EQ ripped out, replaced with a KiOgon J bass loom, which was then taken out and is now (about to be) wired straight to the jack. My Fender has an EMG active pickup in, which wasn't done by me, but i'm going to replace it with a SD SPB-3 or the current Fender model, and another one of KiOgons, looms, as well as shielding it all. That's the extent i get with mods, so far.

two BB preamps?? how do you use the two - stacked, or just set for different levels of gain??
slight change to mine - get fed up having a full mini with one extra pedal on the floor, so benched the EQD dispatch master. thing is, it's an amazing 'bedroom' pedal for bass, but gets lots in a band mix, especially the reverb :/
The only problem I now have is my pedaltrain mini softcase is falling apart. The mini is the ONLY PT board Mono don't do a case for, and have no plans to do so, plus no hard case options, so what do you do???

I would get in touch with Flightcase Warehouse/Castle Cases/Other flightcase provider and get one made. Though the big question is, is it worth it?

Thankfully the electrics still work (One of KiOgon's lovely wiring looms), just the pots and knobs get in my way now i've decided to make it lefty due to boredom. Does anyone know the best way to wire it?

Thanks for the quick replies. I was just wondering if anyone here had done it. It's only a practice bass so i'm not that fussed on sound, i was just wanting to know that it wouldn't destroy anything in any of my pedals or preamp.

Evening all,
I'm just wondering if anyones ever wired a P bass pickup straight to the jack, and whether it sounded usable or not. I want to pull all the pots out of my bass as they're getting in the way now. I have seen some people mention that it might be sensible to add in a resistor and/or cap to make the signal similar to what it would be with the pots, so if anyone knows how i'd do that?
Thanks,

White pickguards on black basses/guitars look cheap and tacky to me, even if it's a Sadowsky or something. The ONLY time it looks okay is on a Telecaster. Not a fan of tort 'guards or rosewood fretboards either.

Morepheus Droptune though i think there was a thread on it a few weeks back where people were saying it wasn't that useful on bass.

Not a bass nor mine, but one of my old teachers at high school had an 80's Monaco Yellow Telecaster that i thought looked absolutelly brilliant, and sounded just as good too.

Compression, delay and chorus are what i tend to dabble around with when i'm recording my acoustic.

The original EBMM US made SUB basses are very highly regarded on here, and after trying out a 5 string a few years back, i know exactly why. Briliant quality and tone, for a pretty small price tag. At $280 that's beyond a bargain, cheaper than a brand new SBMM SUB bass.

I hope you don't spend as long as i did finding the right pick. I've been trying different ones for 5 years and now finally settled on Dunlop Tortex .73mm. I've been swapping between pick and fingers a lot in the past, usually for long stints with each. It's definately a useful skill to have in your arsenal.

Halfway to what i've always wanted, which is a MIDI controllable rack mounted VT Bass Deluxe. If i move back to a rack rig there'll be some series contemplation about whether to get one of these or not.

A gig at a place in Bolton called San San Studios (After it became crap and changed it's name from Soundhouse), i was sat on the edge of the stage for an acoustic section. I tried to jump back up onto the stage, didn't go high enough, so i ended up falling backwards. Hit my head twice on a cymbal stand, twisted my wrist, and got the crowd laughing. The best bit was afterwards, i recieved a few compliments on the fact that i managed that entire feat with missing a note.

Is the website down at the moment because i can't seem to access it (From Chrome or Firefox)? I have some sets somewhere that i can dig out and post off next week if i can get the address.

The easiest way is to remove the pickguard, but it sounds to me they`ve gone in at an angle trying to miss that, and messed up. It takes no time to take the pickguard off. If the pickguard is removed, the Fender tool fits fine, without needing to remove neck etc.

This is exactly what I do when I have to adjust the truss rod on mine, though I don't have the Fender tool, I just use a screwdriver.

Providing i have train fare, i'll certainly be up for that.

A bit long winded but that is how i wish more people would do signature instruments, go crazy and do anything they can think of that would be good.
Liam -
Some do some don't. I expect Mikey Way uses a Fender CS version of his signature bass, which is actually not a bad bass. I think most people with lower end signatures (Price not quality) tend to use more expensive versions, except a few like Eric Bass (Shinedown, Dean Signature) who will literally just use an off the shelf model.

The first thing I would do is go and test the BH500 with a 2x10 cab, and also again with a 2x12, and see which you prefer, as they are very good amps. Youtube demo's can be good, but hearing them in person is always better, so i'll add in that if you can't find something you like in the shops, ask around on here, as someone relatively local may have what you want and allow you to demo it or hear it at a gig.

We bought a zoostorm at work on a whim to run a couple of massive printers and RIP software, we figured if it died, then it died, it's been really good. Not a single problem in the year and a half we've been using it, and cheap as all cheapness too.
Don't diss the zoostorm.

Not got a problem with Zoostorm (Except my dads netbook dying) just i want something faster and more robust, and with multiple monitors.
Liam -
Sorry for the atrocious picture and the mess, i'll take a better one when i have it set up again, but here's my very cheap and very mediocre setup. Lexicon Alpha into a £150 Zoostorm pile of cr*p running Win7 and Reaper. Using my old Phillips Hifi as DIY monitors along with a pair of Logitech headphones. The tablet is there to act as a midi controller once i get the app running properly.
Liam -
I can't see any problem with that. I've seen a few people with tuners last in the chain using it as a complete mute, so you should be fine.

Happy Birthday Clarky, hope you have a brilliant day.

I was recognised by a bloke who served me a burger at a local festival, who asked me why we weren't playing. I've been recognised in Wigan town centre too, about a week after we'd opened for a small time band who'd just been on tour with McFly.
