  1. I did have to laugh at your comment. Think my earlier post made me out better than i am. I do those gigs too usually with the punk band but i just tuck the fan under the legs of the PA cabs in a way not to trip audience members passing by on way to the loo.. Stage to me is where the band play. That's how i convince myself i'm a famous bass player on a worldwide tour of Scottish pubs. Dave
  2. Get yourself an 18" gym fan and sit to the side of the stage hidden out of sight. Black version isn't as noticeable under stage lighting. It works a treat and at 18" it shifts a lot of cool air at you. I generally aim it towards my lower half as i don't like it blowing my hair (see my avatar) Dave
  3. Had a wee shot of WoT's in his back garden and believe me it was bloomin loud. It has that valve warmth from the pre-amp and a nice clear tone. No muddiness and i'd rate it pretty similar to my Mesa Mpulse 600 in tone. When you search the interweb on these amps they are not short of volume. Dave
  4. Aye you should know better. I always do my finger stretches before playing now. I never start playing too soon after carrying large cabs about as that causes my hands to ache and cramp a bit. I always drink between 1 - 2 litres of water at a gig depending on the band and heat. I carry a large 18" gym fan with me for the glam band and on hot days with the punk band. You'd be surprised the difference a decent sized fan makes when playing. Were you in Lanark last night as i was sure i glimpsed you coming out front door as i passed on way home. Dave
  5. We played an all ticket sell out gig in a club outside Edinburgh once with our 70's Glam covers band. The venue had our posters up and it was well advertised as a 70's Glam covers band. We had a guy shout for some funk music at one point in between songs. He then approached our Agent with same request who then pointed to the poster on the wall and said the band were a 70's Glam Rock covers band. Why did you even buy a ticket and handed him his money back and told him to fosters off. He was a tad drunk even tho it was an afternoon gig. Are those G&L tribute basses really that good. ? Dave
  6. Mike, might be worth showing a pic of the control panel. I'm guessing you forgot that one. Fantastic price for a great bit of kit. GLWTS Dave
  7. WOW just wow. That is one serious bass rig. GLWTS Dave
  8. You seem to have posted this twice or is it just me that's seeing it twice ? Dave
  9. So basically you had brain improvement therapy to become a bassist. Dave
  10. yes that's 100% the tape counter was great for finding that difficult part of the songs. Dave
  11. I had forgotten all about the cassette tape thing So many memories coming back since you mentioned it where tapes stretched or got caught and ruined because i kept rewinding one song. They were fine if you played a side all the way thru like an album. Dave
  12. Lessons for approx 18mths if i remember right and from there self taught with a combination of music books that we had back in 70's and listening to albums like Brand X, Jeff Berlin, Camel, Mahavishnu, Colloseum II, Dave
  13. Sorry about that Jimmy i went onto their site and saw them AFTER i posted the comment. Bit of a "DOH !!!" moment there. Just ordered one. Cheers for that Dave
  14. Had the Smooth Hound wireless before the Shure and altho i never got drop outs i did seem to pick up noise or interference on it in some venues. I've since played same venues with the Shure and nothing, it was as clear as the proverbial whistle. Dave
  15. The wireless or the Shure cable ? Dave
  16. That's another CON for me too. I would have preferred the angled jack. Did you have to give them any details of the cable or do they have them on file ? Dave
  17. My boots are nowhere near as high as yours plus you're a good bit taller than me so you have my sympathy there. Luckily you never fell over any time i saw you. Dave
  18. Best move i ever made. Few things make me say that. Pros :- 1. i never get any interference. 2. it doesn't affect my tone 3. transmitter battery is charged via USB either from mains or any other source. Receiver is mains powered. 4. simple to use, literally plug and play, its honestly that easy. 5. built in tuner saves setting up an additional pedal. 6. battery can be charged any time in its cycle, can be used direct from box. You don't need to fully charge first or run flat and recharge several times. 7. if for any reason Tx fails or battery runs flat, the pedal has a jack input you can use and still have the use of the tuner. 8. i get approx 10-12 hrs use from the battery 9. if you forget to turn Tx off it automatically switches off after 1 hour if not being used. 10. it transmits 3 frequencies at same time and if the selected one fails or picks up interference it switches over fast enough you wont hear anything. Cons :- 1. cable from Tx to bass is very thin and may get damaged after a few yrs of use. I intend buying a spare cable. I plug it in and totally forget about it to be honest. Its also built like a tank both pedal and Tx. Its just the small cable thing that lets it down a bit. One other personal opinion i didn't really like the belt / strap clip but i was always gonna use my holster that's fitted to my strap. Highly recommended IMHO Dave
  19. Thanks for keeping us posted and up to date @Mickeyboro. Sad sad news. Dave
  20. I have 2 basses for each band as the bands sound better with certain basses. One is just a back up. Punk band - Sandberg MarloweDK main bass and a Geddy J as a back up. I've tried getting used to a P bass for this band but just not taken by it and gonna go back to the Geddy as my back up. Glam band - Sandberg VM4 as main bass and Fender PJ active as back up. Other basses i have were bought in 80's and / or have sentimental value ie birthday presents etc. Dave
  21. Didn't think of that. I had assumed it was the amp. Dave
  22. That's interesting. Towards the end of the gig i tried turning the gain down just a notch and upped the master and it did improve so you might have answered the question Steve. Dave
  23. Yep that's annoying when bass is ramped up on a guitar amp. One of my pet hates. Dave
