Two North Korean Ladies playing a bass duet
dmccombe7 replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
I enjoyed that. Very nice relaxing bass music. Dave -
Def like those red VS4's that @ead and @Cuzzie have shown. That could be the direction i'll go if i decide on a passive P Dave
-
Like that passive red one.
-
That's a lot of Sandbergs @TRBboy. Your fav one at the moment from that lot i'm guessing the last pic. Dave
-
To be fair i quite like the centre point but i know what you are talking about with it dulling down the tone a bit. Dave
-
I wasn't even aware there was a humbucker with split coils option. Have to say i do like the humbucker solo'd on my VM4. Gorgeous punchy tone thru a loud Mesa Mpulse rig. Not my usual tone but i do love trying it at rehearsals. Normally i have it set mid point or slightly towards the P pick up depending on song. The volume balance between the P and MM is pretty close on my VM4. Ideal for what i play at the moment. 70's Glam Rock covers. Dave

Aye i wish you good luck with that one and it was nice knowing you. Just remember that Hospitals are dangerous places to be in at the moment Dave
-
You can hear the album on Youtube too.

No probs. Happy to help. That's what we are all here for. Just advising caution with basses you've been attached to. Dave

I'd wait a bit before selling the rest of your gear. Sometimes the novelty of even a custom bass wears off a little and you start playing your other basses sometimes because they suit the band you eventually join. Once they are gone you might regret selling them on a whim. I've bought custom basses over my many years and loved them but eventually i go back to my Geddy Jazz which is currently the cheapest bass i've bought as it was on sale at the time. My main bass at the moment is my Sandberg VM4 but every time i lift my Jazz i just love it. Unfortunately the Jazz doesn't fit with my current band. It may well be that your custom is the bass to end all GAS but it takes time and gigging to find that out. Its just my own personal take on it tho. Dave
-
Looking forward to the finished site @Bilbo Cant thank you enough for all the work you saved me Dave
-
Kinda where i'm heading but i wont change my current VM4 cause i really like what it can do. I do fancy a 2nd hand VS4 preferably passive but if not i could use it as a starting point for what i have in my head. Dave
-
quite a few owners have commented on how the tone is affected when in passive mode. Some enough so they removed the active circuit and made passive. (don't know the details on what was done)
-
Another question about Sandberg necks. Are they all the same dimensions ie width and depth of neck like Fender P and J necks are different. I love my VM4 but i generally prefer my Jazz and Warwick Thumb necks being a bit thinner. Dave
-
Do all Sandberg necks get the same fret levelling treatment (PLEK) Was just wondering about the passive VS4's Dave
-
Very nice indeed
-
I had exact same fretless P bass in early 80's

Never heard of the shop. Is it a local shop or an online one. Edit : found it on line Out of curiosity is it the white or black ones you use ? I bought the white ones
-
That's what i had been doing. Maybe 2-3 gigs of 2-2.5hrs or 1-2 6hr rehearsals and i'd pop them on charger when i got home. Dave
-
As far as i know they were. Think it was Amazon and i have been caught out with Amazon before where items haven't been legit. Where did you buy yours I brought them home and recharged them again and wife used them for Xmas lights around the house but again they lasted maybe a half day and done. Small set of LED lights. I just remembered my cordless phone has the original first set i bought and they've been in over a year now so maybe the 2nd batch i bought were duffers or non originals. Dave

Altho i'm a big fan of Guy i'm having the added bonus of hearing bands and albums i'd never heard before. What's not to like about Guy Pratt. Great Bass player, likeable personality and funny too. Dave

I bought a set of the Eneloops batteries after recommendation on BC and all 4 have failed on me with the Smooth Hound. One set during a gig went from full charge before leaving home to zero in about 3 songs during sound check. Replaced with standard Duracells now which will last me about 3 gigs before needing changed (approx 12hrs or there abouts) The set came with 4 AAA & 4 AA batteries. Oddly enough the AA's are still working fine. Dave

I put new batteries in when i arrived yesterday and they were showing full bars. Anytime i've had low batteries it just died on me eventually but i was down to the lowest indicator. Didn't notice any other issue with it. At gigs i normally plug it into the rack mounted 6-way mains and its fine. I'm going to do some more checks on it on Tues when i'm back in studio and see what more i can find. Once i've experimented a bit to nail it down i'll contact Chris at Smooth Hound. Failing that i may look for a different wireless system. One thing that was blatantly obvious when i changed over to a lead again was the depth of tone that appeared. Sound seemed fuller. I need to check the setting on the wireless as i know you have a setting to make it sound more like a cable. Dave
-
Cheers Vinny good to know its a more common issue than just mine. (that didn't come out the way i meant it ) Dave

Was using my wireless today and it developed a loud buzzing like an earth loop issue. Heard a couple of "popping" noises too. Unplugged and used a lead to ensure it wasn't my amp and all was fine. Played a few songs with the lead and no issues plus i did notice my tone was fuller with the lead. Moved the wireless receiver off the top of my amp and used a different socket instead of the amp case rack mounted one and the fault seemed to disappear. The amp is set up in our bands studio so there are other items plugged into 4-bar sockets etc. Should i be worried that its developing a problem. Anyone else experienced this with the Smooth Hound units. I've gigged this unit with the receiver sitting on my amp and plugged into the rack mounted sockets and all was OK. Its got me baffled a bit. If anyone can shed some light on it i would be grateful. Dave
