  1. I do like the look of them plus it's got shiny bits and I'm guessing no truss rod ?
  2. Oooohhhh shiny bass neck. Nice one. Post a pic of the bass for my GAS. 😆
  3. My Mesa mpulse picks up low hum when connected to same 4 bar as one of our powered monitors. Doesn't do it with powered pa cabs or any other amps. I tend to plug bass amp direct to wall socket on its own to avoid such issues.
  4. Is that how it works ? Never had to do this before. I'll look into that. Dave
  5. Thought it was time for an update on my WB-100. Took the amp down to our very own WoT who confirmed there was something not right with the amp. While there Leszek asked us to complete some tests and vid record it and send to him. Leszek offered a replacement or refund right at the start of this and again made the offer and assured me it would be resolved to my satisfaction We agreed a plan that my local tech guy in Glasgow would have a look inside first to check valves and look for anything obvious. He did a test and found valves ok and that something was happening inside the amp to cause clipping. At this point he contacted Leszek directly and they agreed it would be better to return the amp to HB. I can appreciate from a privacy point of view he wants to have the amp back at HB for a thorough test and repair as required. Leszek sent me a message last night while i was at rehearsals telling me about it and will cover all / any additional costs. I will pick up the amp from tech guy today but i'm going on holiday for 2 weeks but Leszek has no issue waiting until i get back to ship the amp back to him. He will send the replacement amp out next week. I have to say that Leszek has been fully supportive in the issue. I cant fault HB in their response so far. Its unfortunate that the amp has an issue but these things happen to all manufacturers at some point. No-one's fault, it happens. Hopefully in another few weeks of anxious parcel tracking i will have a new working WB-100. Anyway i'll let you all know when it arrives again. Dave
  6. No probs always happy to help fellow BC'ers Dave
  7. Perfect. Sometimes when loading pics i forget to "insert" them in the post. GLWTS Dave
  8. Oddly enough i've only ever been in once or twice and they didn't have anything i liked. Been a while tho. Dave
  9. Very nice indeed. 3 pick up basses i just think "strat bass on steroids". I've never heard of this manufacturer but will keep an eye open to try one. Dave.
  10. Yep i do that too.
  11. Its quite annoying when you take a break and some people leave. I've often thought it would be better to play right thru. On another note i've never heard of a Reverend Triad bass. Any chance you could post a wee pic or two. Dave
  12. When i first joined the band and one of the early gigs i had it in my head that it was drop tune to D# and played the full song like that and absolutely no-one noticed, not even the band. Dave
  13. Dont change what works.
  14. That was our first after a 3 week break. My daily practicing at home must have slipped by the wayside. Enjoyed the Jean Genie there. Bass sounds nice. Dave
  15. Had a bad mistake last week doing Into the Valley by Skids. Bass E string detuned to D for it. Bass starts and after a couple of bars the guitar joins in for another 2 bars. That was fine until i went to the next line a bar early causing the guitarist to get lost and the drummer couldn't come in with his cues. At one point myself and guitarist were on different bars, he stopped and i just kept playing the intro riff until they came back in. That's the worst start i've had in many years. Some of the audience who had been drinking a fair bit said to me at the end of the night that they thought i was having a wee bass solo 😂 Happy days but it's live music and sometimes things go a little astray 😀 Dave
  16. yep that sounds like what we experienced as the bass amp (an ampeg 810 cab) was facing forward and adjacent to drummers snare so his mic was slightly behind the front edge of the bass cab. Was def a weird one. I'll let him know about that off-axis issue. Cheers Dave
  17. Was one of the mics picking up your bass causing the long drone you mention. ? One time in a well known Glasgow rehearsal studio the drummers mic was picking up the bass on certain notes. We narrowed it down to his own personal mic (shure 58/59) that he bought on ebay and he reckoned it was a dodgy copy as his other mics didn't do this. Our drummer owns our PA and almost all the mics of varying types. The studio has a good quality well looked after PA system. Dave Dave
  18. I was hoping they might do a 4 string version but dont see anything there. Dave
  19. My twin neck Shergold in late 70's had a 4 & 8 string necks. They didn't make an 8 string and we agreed to convert their 6 string neck to an 8. Fantastic basses. Will have a look at the Enfields. Not heard of them before. Happy days Dave
  20. Is that an old Shergold bass you have there. Nice
  21. Under the circumstances one mistook on the night is pretty impressive. I've been playing same songs in 2 different bands one Punk covers and the other 70's Glam Rock covers and i still make the occasional mistake. When i do it annoys the heck out of me and i polish up on that particular song for the next gig. I do tend to run thru parts or all of the sets every day even if its just one set. Dave
  22. It always amazes me how some of you guys can dep at the last minute. Huge respect, i couldn't do that without some practice at home beforehand. Best i've managed was 2-3 weeks before a gig altho the songs were all new to me. Dave
  23. Emergency Exit punk gig last night. (freebie) Was a weird one. It was to honour a friend of the band who passed away during covid and the family asked if we would play as she was a big fan of the band. This was before i joined. Large fancy hotel gig with all the women wearing party frocks / dresses. That was a sign that we were not an ideal band for this kind of gig. 1st set was quiet with hardly anyone dancing but we were getting plenty of clapping, whistles and cheering after every song. (maybe not enough drink involved yet). 2nd set saw a big change with some songs filling the floor and then all of a sudden we were back to 5 or 6 dancers. By the end of the set we had quite a few back on the floor for most songs and we got an encore but it was hard work at the start. Using my trusty Sandberg Marlowe and my Mesa Mpulse and Subway 210/115 cabs. Hopefully we wont be asked to do that again. Dave
  24. 100% agree. ELO Experience one of the best bands i've ever seen. If you get a chance go and see them. The girls on cello are brilliant, bopping away and singing along all night. The full band is superb Dave
