1. +1 to Narnias advice. The paypal system protects you up to £500. Report it to ebay ASAP and also inform paypal of the problem. It will be sorted but its a total pain for you!!!!! My advice would be to share a few details with the seller during the auction. Ive bought and sold many a bass on the bay and always rely on contact during and after to gain confidence this includes sharing numbers etc etc. Hope this helps Good luck Col

 8.
hello an ashdown compressor popped up on a google search for an alright price, wondered if anybody had any experience of them? They look like they're well put together, but are they any good? I know the only real way to find out is to pull the trigger on one, but if it's no good it's readies I could have put to something decent. Ta
Hi, Ive tried one and didnt really enjoy the experience. Im a big fan of Ashdown amps but cant say the sound quality of the pedal did anything for me. If your after decent compression I'd most certainly go far a valve driven unit. Im just keenly awaiting delivery of a DHA Bass Comp reasonable costs and hopefully top notch sounds. The EHX Blackfinger is excellent but is very large if your using a pedal board. I'll let ya know how the DHA goes if your interested. Col
 9.
Hi Col, When did you order the compressor as I can't see an order from someone called Col or Colin? The Vt1-Bass-Compressor will draw about 150mA at 12VDC but will require about 300mA at switch on, can the Diago supply 12VDC? It needs to be well regulated or there will be hum. The pedals do work at 9VDC but there is a reduced output level and some loss of tone so we recommend 12VDC. Dave
It came through ebay under Ali Price. Make any sense?
 10.
Nice one. Do you know if they sell them to Joe P ? Cheers Steve.
Yes, Im just a Joe P too. I dealt with a bloke called Guy who sorted it out. Their number is on the website. best of luck
 11.
Me like. How did you split the combo, looks cool?
Just a bit of carpentry Steve and a little help from Ashdown. I got the amp out and bought a new sleeve for it direct from ashdown. I then cut the top part of the combo off, sanded and recovered. The connection plate on the back was lying about in my mates house so I stuck it on the back. Truth be told the covering is not as hot as id have hoped but with the weight difference its a small trade off. She looks great from a distance, not so pro on closer scrutiny. The sleeve cost £75. cheers Col
 12. Heres some pics of my kit. Firstly, my Ashdown Evo 500 4x10 Combo that I split into separates. Best thing I ever did!!! Heaviest amp Ive ever owned. Ive also included a pic of my pedal board as she stands, I am awaiting 1)MXR Flanger and 2) DHA Compressor + the delay is for sale. Last but not least my sleek and lovely ladies... my stunning Warwick and Stingray mmmmmmm I love them!
 13. Cheers Dave, Thats a fair deal. Im attempting to deal a few items in order to fund a VT2 Dual Bass Custom. Im waiting for the Bass Compressor at the moment. Will the compressor draw enough juice from a Diago power supply? Cant wait!!!!! Col
 14.
I was having a looksie at the Sky listings for the next week or so and there's a show about John Entwistle on Biography (Channel 156) next Wednesday evening. Can't confirm the time...6.00pm I think. Not a big Ox fan to be honest, but he had (and destroyed) some great gear. P
In his own words he was a "Lead Bass Guitarist" which I guess was quite an unique position for him to be in. He also stuck fervently to 4 strings adding some substance to the 5,6,7,string debates of old. Very rarely do Guitarists step aside for the bass to take over. I doubt Townsend had much of a choice, his Ashdown ASS speaker stack was like manhattan!!! He did a grand job for the fat string. Anyhow, he's one of my Gods and I'll most certainly be watching. Wonder if theyll have some unseen footage Col
 15.
Sounds good to me lol… in one of my threads ‘jwbassman’ has shown me pictures of his VT1 with a custom black/red paint job… how much would one of those set me back?
The black and red does look rather sexy. Id also like to know how much extra the custom paint job would set me back. Cheers Dave Col
 16.
just added a pic if you were interested, tim
Yo Tim, Whats this baby like then? Is it a bass specific O/D?
 17.
Hi mate, I used to own a DHA VT2 so could be of help. The sound it seems you're looking for sounds very much like the vt2. I used to keep channel 1 on as a mild grind then use the second channel for more hardcore distortion, but it never really sounded harsh or synthy. Has a very 'organic' sound as you say so it looks liek you may like it. There is (or was, not been on it for a while) soundclips on daves site so check them out maybe? I only got rid of mine cos I wanted a green big muff and had no other way to fund it! Good luck in your search for sonic niceness
Many thanks for the reply, much appreciated. Im getting more and more into the idea. Sounds cool C
 18.
i was looking at this on ebay, but im not convinced its analog at all, 1.1s delay for an analog under £50?? and analogs usually have a blend pot?? sound samples would be really useful for this one, im still not sorted for a delay
Wouldnt know where to start with the soundbites Kev. Its smart enough pedal, ive compared it to my mates danelectro delay and it came out on top. As long as the input gain isnt startlingly high the drop off is very cool indeed. At the price its a real snip, as you know im selling to fund another avenue of effect. Col
 19. The Biyang AD-7 is an analogue delay, with a max delay of 1.1sec or 1100ms. Adjustment controls, Blend, Time and Repeat. 20. Ya know, I admire you for being so commited to learning these techniques. I LOVE bass and have played for over 20 years but I still cant get my motivation to learn these intricate or micro techniques. it probably comes from my fascination with the groove as opposed to forcing the bass to make different noises. I usually get those rocks off when I play guitar. My influences do include pretty pushy players i.e Claypool and Entwistle but once it gets to the micro techniques Im unconvinced the bass is the right instrument. Am I missing something?? I dunno, but good luck with the practice. More power to ya.
 21. No nonsense buyer. Immediate payment - No quibbles A good honourable man!! Col
 22. My Warwick is called Lizzy (custom order and had to name the project) and the Stingray is called Black (descriptive). The names have stuck.
 23. I went for the Buzzard in the end. I used to own one but sadly moved her on as she was too much of a statement to walk on stage with. Sounded the dogs bollox tho. I got the Fortress Masterman which although discontinued is still my fave "standard" Warwick shape. A very well balanced beast. The dolphin would come next.
