Oh yes... and the new rig as well if anyone is interested.
Ill wait this one out and see if anything happens further south. Enjoy the day Col
 2.
Hi guys I have been playing bass for about 6 months. We formed a VERY informal band and because we could all affoed it, and had the time, we started a group. The problem is that the group consists of work collegues. that should not be a problem normally but I am getting flak from the one guitarist, who started learning at the same time as me, that because I am not up to "his" standard The band should be dis banded. The company ranking goes as such. Drummer, the company boss, without a musical nounce in his body. But is listening to this guitarist and blaming me for the breakup of a band. The guitarist keeps suggesting, and learning, "easy" songs, and has quite a library of well known songs. This is not done intentionaly, but please remember the boss is the drummer. My fellow band members have very little idea of what constitutes a band, and (unknowingly) will pick a song that is very hard for me to play. Then I look stupid. the who is an example that I can give. I have tried to explain to my drummer, who is the center of influence, that this man learns songs that are easy to play on the guitar but are very hard for a beginer to play on bass. He thinks the sun shines out of his rectum and I try to tell him.....If the song is a classic, either the guitar is easy or the bass is easy. But never both. I have posted on here previously, I had a Warwick bass, which I have now sold and am now looking for a Rick. What I would like from you boys is 200 songs where the Bass is a lot less difficult than guitar. Thanks in advance.
Yo Dazco, Id have twatted him an left the band. LOL Some good advice on here a few +1's from me. Unfortunately the hardest part of being a regular muso has less to do with your playing ability than youd think, its more about getting the right chemistry with the band in amongst all the politics. This sounds like it can only get worse unless there is a compromise from the "main men". Dont take it personally, as youve mentioned earlier, you are realistic about your strengths and weakneses. Some people just cant get their head out of their arse for long enough to analyse their own issues!! Twat him anyway LOL, not that Im inciting violence you understand. But seriously think about finding a new band, its meant to be fun!!!!! Good luck Col

 6.
I know this is a bit of thread necromancy but could you explain how you went about separating the head and cab of your combo? I really want to just have a head and my extension cab instead of combo + cab for gigs but I'm not too hot on DIY so it'd be cool to see how you went about it. Did you source a head enclosure or make one, also where did you get your covering and stuff from? Cheers, Pete
Hi Pete, I sourced a new sleeve for the head from Ashdown. I explained my project to Guy there and he sold me covering and corner pieces etc. The carpentry work I did myself but Im sure if your not confident any chippy worth his salt will do a grand job for you. The covering is a tricky job tho, very messy with spray glue. Im not happy with my DIY job so may get the whole cab re covered by a pro. Depends on costs though as it looks fine from a distance Hope this helps Col
 7.
Wollop! I'm sure most of you know already what this is/does (very, almost identically, similar functionality to the sansamp thingy people rave about, but underrated by comparison - I personally believe the sansamp is a little overrated in actual fact, this is much more useful if you're after distortion, as it has a separate channel for't), but for those who don't: GOOGLE!! It's in good condition for 3 years of constant use. I'm selling because I'm looking to diversify my effects and I find I get a really sweet tubey crunch with my EHX Black finger, rendering this redundant (I've only ever really used it for the wicked distortion!) This is a really handy little box of tricks, as any online review will likely tell you. So let's say trades for effects or small powerful(ish) combos or maybe a cabinet. I bought this new when it was brand new for £200, so I'd like to ask £80 plus shipping for this if people are interested in a cash purchase: I'll be looking at trades first though, I'm not desperate for the money, just a new sound! I do have a feedback thread if you want to check my compatability with your stuff/money Thanks. Theo.
PM'd

 9.
OK here's the situation guys and gals - I've just started a new band and I have decided to change my setup. The main reason is for travelling to and from practices and gigs with my Ashdown combo isn't handy especially in the car so I'm looking for a cab and amp with the cab being a reasonable size. I play most type of music but especially metal (\m/ lol), rock, funk, pop etc. and don't want to spend too much over £300. I was looking at this cab to go with this amp head Any suggestions on this or anything else you have in mind? Will it work well? Will it achieve what I want?
I had a similar problem and decided that I loved my Ashdown so much that I split the combo into its component parts. I now have a managable set up with no deterioration or compromise sound wise. The 4 x 10 now fits in the boot of my hatch with the head on top. Its the best thing I ever did. Cost me a smidge over £100 for everything including a service from Ashdown. Well worth considering. Col
 10.
i think this can be classed as a sign.... KEEP THE BLOWTORCH once its fixed
Looks like the case Kev, she dont wanna go anywhere!!!! Well I have a choice now between the Jekyll & Hyde and the MXR. Cant be bad having 2 boutique effect option just for growling Nice precision BTW.. mmmmmm
 11.
Hi Col, Not worth sending it all the way back (£45! ) for just a pot replacement, which is couple quid at the most. I would either get replacement from MXR, or if you're in a rush to get it fixed, ask them for logarithmic or linear value of pot, & buy one. Anyone reasonably competent with a soldering iron should be able to repair this (easy job), & it shouldn't really cost any more than a tenner. If not possible at music store, try TV repair man or similiar. Shame you're not Bristol based, would do it for you. Hope this helps Cheers
Cheers Nick The pot is ordered and I'll replace it with my trusty iron and sucker. Im just preparing in case its a little more than that. The PCB looks very complex. Hopefully its just the pot. Thanks again Col
 12.
i'd get a replacement pot from MXR and fit it yourself, unless Dunlop agree to refund you the postage as your sending it back under warranty. Have you contacted dunlop in the UK via JHS?
cheers john, Ive got the pot on the way, my only concern is that if it turns out to be something other than the pot....... I didnt contact JHS in the UK but most certainly will do. The reason JD USA wouldnt pay the postage was that the pedal is over a year old and the repair would be done as a "good will" gesture whcih is cool but postage is just too much to make sending it viable Cheers Col
 13. Helloooo, A little advice if poss Ive recently sold my MXR blowtorch to a BC member only to find that the gain pot wasnt working on delivery. All has been sorted and the pedal returned and refund given etc etc. However, Ive been in touch with the Jim Dunlop factory who asked me to return it and theyd repair it free of charge. Excellent, or so I thought. The cost of shipping via parcelfarce was £45 which is steep but Id also have to pay for the return. Is there anywhere in the UK that offers an economical repair service on these pedals? I cant seem to find anywhere. Its a shame to let the pedal waste as everything else works a treat. BTW MXR have offered to replace the pot as a starting point which I'll install but if this doesnt work im stuck. Any suggestions? Col
 14. More details on first post and a great big BUMP for my ad
 15.
At the moment, I'm fiddling about with some solo bass arrangements, Blue Bossa which I played live for the first time last night ( busking the bits of the arrangment I haven't written yet!) and Smells Like Teen Spirit, plus relearning songs I recorded about three years ago for some upcoming gigs with Panic Room. I also have the urge to relearn "Holy Wars" by Megadeth as it's fun to play and a great picking workout. Cheers Alun
LOL a little megadeth is always good for the picking exercises. Is see your local to me Alun, any gigs coming up please let me know, i'll say hi. Col
 16.
Higher Ground - Chilli's version I know it's not the hardest thing in the world but I've not really slapped before so it's taking some doing. Making progress though.
A very nice song. The slap into is one of the best examples of beauty in simplicity. Not as easy as it seems as Mr Flea aint that consistant so all isnt as it may seem.

 18.
Thanks for linking me up to that. The pedal I have for sale is the exact same model as this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brVjt5ZTU1U Its in an eastern language but the sounds speak for themselves. Any questions? Drop me a line Col
Would be interested in an exchange for something interesting of a similar value. Let me know whats on offer. Cheers Col
 19. I used to use an MXR Blowtorch but she was a little too modern & synthy for my taste so Ive just bought a Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde Overdrive from a fellow BC member. ITS A MONSTER. Im soooo impressed with the flexibility and quality of drive. From warm growlin' to total B52 bomber drones with enhanced bottom end. A very good pedal.....cheers Tim Col
 20.
This is a great tube compressor either for live or studio applications. It's about six months old and I still have the original box and packaging including the bubble wrap..! http://www.ehx.com/ehx2/Default.asp?q=f&am...FBlack%5FFinger Bit of a long link I know but it's worth taking a look to get all the details, it really does do what it says on the tin. I'm looking for £80 plus postage, it is in 'as new' condition and you won't be disappointed. Paypal is fine and if you want to come and pick it up even better. I'm based near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire (PE28 3YX for multimap purposes). Cheers and thanks for looking
I used one for a while and it is indeed a STONKIN quality bit of kit. I sold it to a basschat member Thosd, he'll tell ya what its like. A good luck bump for ya
I used have a serious neck diving fire breathing 76 Thunderbird. My mother warned me about them when I were growing up!!!! I had things running up and down my leg for a few weeks after the Tbirds fire was extinguished!!! Loved the neck dive sessions tho
