1. Can you say a bit more about the condition of this bass? How old is it? What kind of nick is it in? Little hard to tell from the pics. Cheers
2. Should I assume you're based in and around brighton and rehearse there?
3. Little update. It's hard for me to compare the new pup with the old one cos I hardly ever used the bridge pup as it was pretty weak imo. So, on it's own, it's difficult to asses the sound other than that it is louder. But, it really shines when both pups are selected. I guess it's cos the KA is a hotter pup, so the balance is better and it therefore adds more of its sound to the mix. I get a real nice growl out the 2 pups now, whereas before, I used to just have the P pup selected most of the time.
4. Hi, Browsing through the forum I see lots of lovely images posted, especially in the for sale section. However, a lot of these images are tiny attachments which need clicking on to see at full size. The thing is, these images are very large (if you haven't compressed them) so every time you click an image you are downloading quite a large file. You'll know this by the time it takes to load the picture. I feel that this is a bit un-user friendly. Many folks have download limits, plus it's not a great way to view the images. If I wanna view a whole set, I have to open each one, view it, close it, open the next and so on. It's better to embed the images into the post isn't it? Or, upload to a photo library site such as flickr, or Picasa where images can be viewed as a set. Is this discussed anywhere on the forum? Thoughts?
5. The fretboard is so shiny! Amazing. Out of my budget but kudos on a well cared for bass.
6. Deal done I know, but may I drop in to say what a beautiful bass! I'd never really heard of Lakland's until recently after I found out Adam Clayton uses them.
7. They're here, if this is the one. http://www.guitarandampshop.co.uk/acatalog..._032-1500_.html
8. So, this is actually a P bass special yeah?
9. Fixed. By the way, it's a Lakland 4402
10. Not sure where to post YouTube Videos. Will here do? Found this today. Great bass line. One of my favourite songs. Enjoy. By the way...it's not me!
11. Ooh, tempting. Was looking at Squire Jazz/Precision/Jaguar's but this is nice.

Which Squier?

Nice one Joe. I'll remember that and tell the shop too. I assume yours has been trouble free since you sorted it? Hasn't slipped back up at all?
14. The one in the shop had some space underneath the pot.
15. p.s. Anyone know where you can get replacement scratchplates for the Squier Jaguar?

Which Squier?

I also realise now that the Bass Collection bass must've been a Bass Collection Jive bass but with the bridge guard taken off.
17.
well....mines off to the bass doctor tomorrow hopefully, for a badass & some flatwounds.....will report back in a while......perhaps the doc will also give his verdict too.....
Isn't it simple enough to fit a bridge yourself? Don't get me wrong, I'm just wondering if I've got it wrong and there's something more to it than merely screwing it on.
18. Great, thanks Joe (if that is your name). Ignore my question in the other thread, as you've answered it here.

Which Squier?

I think the guy turned the amp up a bit when he plugged in the Bass Collection bass. Can you give me some info about the vol/tone control issue? Is it easy to fix?

Which Squier?

Had 20 mins in a shop today where I tried out a VM Jaguar, a VM Jazz, and a VM Precision. They all felt nice, and easy to play, although I thought the Jag had a bit of neck dive, but I didn't try it with a strap, or stood up. The jag had a problem with the controls actually. The concentric stacked VOL/TONE controls were sticking, so when I changed the tone, the vol changed. I was careful not to touch the vol control. The guy in the shop reckoned that the vol is disengaged when you turn the tone pot but I proved to him that wasn't the case. I think I read somewhere on here about this being an issue, but it being easy to fix. I can't find the post in question now. Other than that, I didn't really have much time to judge the sound of the basses. I was just getting a feel for them really. Before I left though, the guy suggested I try a Bass Collection Jazz Bass. It was what he uses and he claimed that he was very happy with it and in particular, felt the pups were really good. I don't know anything about the Bass Collection brand, so any more info would be great. Cheers.
21. I tried one of these in a shop today, and both Tone controls 'took' the Vol controls with them when I turned them, and I was very careful not to touch the Vol control. Is this a known issue?
22. Job finally done. Didn't get round to it the other day. Piece of cake really. Little tip...I used a straw to get the wires through the body without snagging Think I've done it right as it sounds ok with both pickups selected, so not out of phase I guess? Only tested through Garageband at the mo as my amp is in the car, but it sounds nice and beefy. Definitely an improvement on the old pup. Only slight issue is that the poles under the E string are not central, but I think this is more down to the pup slot and where the current screw holes are than any problem with the pup. Here's a pic
23. I'm about to tackle this job. Now I know that the hot cable on the Kent pup is white, should I assume that the old pup's red wire is the hot?
