1. I have one [s]P bass bridge ashtray[/s] and[s] two[/s] one jazz bass pup cover[s]s[/s] to go. They are replicas, not Fender bits. They have never been fitted but have languished in the parts box for a few years so they are not pristine but they are OK. Free to the first three who PM me with their address and who commit to giving a fiver per to the basschat fighting fund or a cancer charity if preferred. Clearout time....
  2.
Blimey, a SW bass bash! I never thought I'd see the day. I'm up for it. I can bring: Eminence EUB Aria Lite one EUB (could be an interesting point of reference for the Stagg EUB owners out there?) Musicman Sterling Markbass Little Mark II 2x Bill Fitzmaurice Omni 10.5s
Ha ha, yeah Be nice to try some Omni's and a few other EUB's. I may bring my Stagg EUB if no one else brings one.
  3.
I'd be up for this, can bring bass if you want but im not sure a mexican fender jazz would interest many people, on the other hand my Ibanez EDB 500 is an interesting bass worth trying out maybe.
Generally more people will be interested in the unusual basses and gear than relatively normal stuff. But bring your MexJazz if you want to try the amps and stuff that show up. There's no rules on what you bring.
  4. Bump for a few added pics
  5. Oh I know that one ... I use a prompt system for depping situation (as we've discussed before) but you really need to commit this stuff to memory for your proper band. If you know there are prompts available you'll not do it and the burning in process will take longer You'll just have to keep doing it Al, oh and keep your head away from your speaker magnets: KRYTEN: Kryten personal black box recording. Time: unknown. Location: unknown. Cause of accident: unknown. Should someone find this recording, perhaps it will shed light as to what happened here. My short-term memory has been erased. This, I ascribe to the proximity of the magnetic coils from Starbug's rear engine. Secondly, due to the proximity of the magnetic coils, my short term memory appears to have been erased. This, combined with the erasure of my short-term memory, has left me a little disoriented... disoriented... disoriented...

  11.
+1 to the Squier and Vintage suggestions. Both safer bets than the two you've suggested. Within your budget you can get some decent stuff - especially if you buy used on here. Look out for some of the cheaper Yamaha and Ibanez models. Consistently good quality.
+1 Yamaha BB414 is fine.

  14.
Hi Guys i recently introduced myself on the Intro page. I am looking to buy a Bass guitar and i am looking for a really good or at least decent one that's under 150 at the moment. I have been looking at: Johnny Brooks P-Bass Stagg SG Bass can anyone please help Thx
However, if you must have a new one then the Jim Deacom 1962 style Precision is a fine bass for the money (£120 from my local store) especially with a decent set of strings and a setup. (but then that goes for all basses) http://www.gamlinsmusic.co.uk/musical-inst...-sunburst-1191/ Dusty Pink one one ebay right now with bag and stand etc. Item 220475602652
  15. Vox Venue 30 1x12 practice Combo Nice small practice/small gig 1x12 combo Solid construction and decent sound. Kettle lead DI and Slave out, headphone socket, Effects loop. Fine for acoustic gigs and I've used it as a stage monitor for my Stagg upright, DI'd into the PA, and it coped well enough. Loud enough for gigs with a sensitive drummer £50 plus delivery/postage Available at the South Wales bass bash on Nov 29th if I havn't sold it by then.
  16. To minimise your financial loss buy used ...... I can't really agree with the Squier starter pack. You get a fairly average bass - the lowest quality of the various types of Squier available - and an amp that's hardly good enough for bedroom parent worrying, let alone playing with someone else. if you do decide to go that way then look in your local free ads paper for one that some kid has given up on. Those amps also come up in Cash Converter etc for about a tenner so you could buy a decent bass and one of those little amps so you can hear yourself to get started then buy a decent combo when you have a bit more money. For the same bass money you'd get a decent used Squire Vintage Modified Jazz bass or that Classic Vibe Precision bass linked above. Either of these will sell for the same money when you are ready to move on. They are of such quality that they may be good enough for the first few years of your playing (say 10 or 20 if you stay out of the basschat basses for sale section ) Then save up about £100 or so for a decent sized bass combo that will at least see you through your first jams with mates and smallish gigs Get 100 watts or so. There's loads to choose from. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=60062 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=49254 Also you shoud get a few lessons to get going so ask the tutor as they often have basses for sale, or know of students with basses for sale. oh and good luck, 'tis a mighty path you have chosen
  17. A little update .. Red 57 is on hold for someone for a few weeks pending their sale of their current bass ... Red 1979 Fender Precision is now for sale
  18. Ooh Doesn't a backwards P pickup look strange ...
  19.
i bought a Status energy with LEDs in the neck for £200. Didn't like it too much though so sold it on here for the same price. Iv never seen a bargain at cash converters. All the ones i have ever been trawl through ebay and google before buying any instrument off anyone so they work out its value.
My mate asked them and they said they had no idea what a Smith was and so coulldn't find it on the web or thought it was a weird Gordon Smith. I suspect they paid £50 fo it from some theiving b'stard for his habit.
  20. Not me, sadly, but a mate sent me a picture of a Smith 6 string bass hanging in the window of his local Cash Converter. He asked me what it was and what it was worth. I filled him in and at 8.30 the next morning he was third in the queue behnd the very happy young man who bought it - for £130, with a Smith case ....

Best to see the full gallery if you need details. Weighs in at just over 9 lbs. The flight case is airline baggage handler resistant and weighs in at 16 tons (approximately) I'd like [s]£950[/s] £900. Plus postage or whatever. 22.
I leave all my basses bar one, in a safe and secure lock up. At the time, I had swapped the pups and scratch plate and they remained with me in my house where as the basses were in the lock up. When my house got broken into, they nicked my stereo, CDs, spare bass at the time (a Washburn 6 string) plus my box of spares which included the pups and scratch plate. I hope that helps Tait. Not a happy story but so glad I decided to keep the basses else where. I am now in a very secure neighbourhood but my gear is still locked away where I know it is safe.
probably wanted them for mine - nicked in the 80's, mind. It had no scratch plate and Dimarzios when it went missing ...
  23. Have a Bump matey I'm guessing that's not you and this bass in the clip?
